CONFUSEDANDALONE....he's been a little MIA lately, but I can't forget, his post were some of the 1st I read when lurking...I almost joined just to respond them.
absolutely weird.
minding my own business while pumping gas - this 60 year old short jw lady with fluffed bun styled 60's hair and her 30 year old attractive 5 ' 10 inch jw lady partner came straight up to me as i'm pumping.
they picked the wrong hombre .
Great job flipper! You are one of the reasons I hate and rarely do street work. I personally don't like people walking up on me at the gas station and therefore feel really uncomfortable doing it to others. So I'm already uneasy, then to get someone, that flips the script on me and take issue with the org, I would be done. Like someone else said, it would've been time to go for coffee or breakfast break after that. Lol
I like that you made sure to tell them that you researched and mentioned the name of the recent court case specifying the amount. I think this is key. The way you handled it gives credibility to your concerns, motives and shuts them down. A lot of times when leaving these types of encounters, JWs find a way to resolve in their mind the person's intent so as to discredit them thinking something like "oh he probably just doesn't like JWs", "he must of been stumbled before", "he's mad his family are JWs", "he must be an apostate", or "he must of gotten his information from a unreliable source". But that key information may have them go and do their own research, even if just to discredit something you said or to help them prepare for the next time they encounter this same issue.
at the moment i can't get these books, they are not available as ebooks and i can't risk having them in the house.
but i have heard so much about them and how helpful they are that i am just wondering if any who have read them can give some insights they have gained from them that would be useful to know.
thanks in advance.
Thanks ABS, I will do the same. I did click on the section on Amazon that says something about notifying the publisher that you'd like to see this book on kindle.
i have recently joined the site.
i was just appointed an elder this summer.
i started discovering the ttatt (the truth about the truth) last year after putting a few things together myself concerning the leadership and then doing some research online.. i really enjoyed jwfacts.com, jwsurvey, and others.
Welcome!

DS211- great plan. It will have to be my last alternative. I work with my husband, so there's no lunch time reading for me, at least not of that book. Lol.
I just finished reading the PDF of C.O.C., it took about a month while tryin to be descreet from my whole household. After I got down to about the last 75 pages, I finally figured out that I could set my settings for voice over so that I could listen to it instead.

Does anyone know whether these books (more specifically, Combatting Cult Mind Control) have been made available via ebooks, kindle or some other electronic format?? If so, where? I haven't had success on Amazon.
told my husband to put a muzzle on my mouth over the blood dogma.
we all were driving around in field service when the topic of "which fragments would you take if you were in a car accident or cut yourself badly".
said his choice is a personal one, another sister with chronic health problems said she had no problem with the governing body's new light on taking various fragments.
Great thread!
so, as a non-jw, one of the queries i leverage after taking them to realities within their literature is, "why do the 'worldlies' know this stuff about your religion and you don't?
why didn't they explain the evolution of your doctrines?
" ...and "who really is the faithful and discreet slave and how is the information transmitted again?
I'm wondering if this "appearance of transparency" trick is really a preemptive attempt to thwart the attacks of the evil Internet god (clearly ruled by Satan).
NeverKnew- I think you are right on here. I think with the spread of information on the internet, there's a need to hurry and "adjust" matters before majority of JWs catch on to what's out there about the org. That way it appears to come from "new light"-instead of the org being exposed by various outside sources.
I was thinking along the same lines. It couldn't be by coincidence that there has been so much focus at the assemblies and conventions about association with Df'd/Da'd family members; Apostates and their use of the internet, TV and personal letters; bad association in general; preparing the heart for trials ahead; resisting doubt; independent thinkers; obey the org at all cost, etc.
This way all basis are covered when "adjustments" are made to "old truths". There's no room to question, doubt, or listen to apostates that put bought to light the organizations flaws.
It's pretty slick if you don't know TTATT because if or when you encounter any such things they've focused on, you view it as, oh thank Jah for the "proper food at the proper time" how loving! Meanwhile the org has known what was coming down the pipeline all along.
I wonder if it could backfire on a larger scale? Right before I started to learn TTATT there was a talk about apostates at an assembly, at first I didn't give it much weight as I didn't know of any, or much about them. I'd just heard stories of them back in the day picketing in front of the KH. But after so much focus at this assembly, I became curious just what's going on that there's is a need to focus on apostates? Well here I am learning TTATT and posting on an apostate site.
ive been around this board for quite awhile.
it has helped immensely.
lately i just read everyone elses experiences and try and forget the whole nightmare...but i cant.
Maybe in the video, G'ma can reference JW.org, and how glad she was to see under FAQ "Do You Shun Former Members of Your Religion?" that the JWs don't shun family members and that as long as there is no religious ties the normal family affections and dealings continue.
"What of a man who is disfellowshipped but whose wife and children are still Jehovah’s Witnesses? The religious ties he had with his family change, but blood ties remain. The marriage relationship and normal family affections and dealings continue."
Maybe this will spark something in your daughter...maybe it will cause her to at least notice how deceiving the WT is to public about their shunning policy. The site doesn't mention as they have in the recent conventions that this only applies to persons living within the same household.
So G'ma being away from the JW for so long could be very delighted in the answers on JW.org...that may open a door for your daughter to at least clarify her current behavior to grandma.
