  Does The Governing Body Believe Their Own Lies? Are They Deliberate Liars? Are They Using the Common Human Trait Of Self-Deception

  when we awaken from the indoctrinated coma of the watchtower corporation and starts to see all the lies and half truths one naturally wonders: does the governing body really believe all the stuff that they have printed in their publication?

  are they so indoctrinated that they too are victims of the falsehood that the watchtower prints?

  and now with the grandeous claims that the governing body a lone are the faithful and discreet slave of god doing his will do they really beleive such grandeous bullshit?

  i believe they know what they're doing, 607 is enough to wake up almost any brainwashed jdub. the question i have is why?

  what do they get out of this?

  riches? i don't see it. i mean...they still gotta live in bethel, it's not like they can really retire to the carribbean with a stuffed 401k or anything.

  can't be the women. well it could, or could it? i was never a bethelite, but that's pretty balsy if they can pull that off in "god's kingdom on earth"

  fame? pshhhhh famous to approximately 2 million cult members...i say 2 because i seriously doubt all 7 know who these people are from a hole in their rear. ok, i never did...

  so what do they get except, living at bethel, with no real money, and no real wealth to blow?

  i'm 15, and i'm an unbaptized publisher... so i've been what you call "lurking" here for the past few weeks and i have some questions.

  i hear you guys constantly mentioning ttatt so where can i go to learn more about this (links please)?

  also i've already told my mom that i don't believe in the governing body and she is making me do even more!

  as was mentioned, start planning NOW for your life once you turn 18.

  save/start looking toward university and what you'd like to study.

  build up a network of friends outside the jws. you're gonna need some.

  After 2000 years since JC was executed ,why have we heard not a whisper from GOD ALMIGHTY ?

  he/she had no problem talking to adam and eve ,though they were sinners in his/her sight .throughout the hebrew sriptures, ot, he /she had no problem communicating with fallen man ,imperfect humans , to dictate his will to his subjects by means of prophets , male and female ,according to the bible , the old testament ,the hebrew scriptures , god communicated not once ,not twice ,not even thrice ,but dozens of times during the first 4000 years of human history according to the bible.. why has this god been so silent these past 2000 years ,when their have been atrocities above the scale of anything that has ever been seen these past 6000 years of human existence .. oh you may say that the atrocities were not committed by god they were committed by man.

  fair enough .but god intervened in human affairs in such smaller infringements.

  with prophets or so the bible says.. the so called apostacy after the last of the apostles , the influence of satan in the world ,( or was that after 1914 ,) and the 2000 year gap when christ was supposed to return ,never mind about all the crap that went before it .. the fact remains we have never heard from god ,any god, or even" a " god, with either his/her approval or disapproval of events good or bad these past 2000 years... smiddy.

  letter from a close family member... need help responding.... what a powerful illustration of the affect that our choice of friends can have on us, especially if we leave jehovah after being 'raised' by him from infancy!.

  pack of wolvesthere was a farmer who raised sheep and had trouble with wolves stealing his sheep.

  he loved his sheep and didn't want to lose even one of them.

  lol it might be helpful to point out that the shephard was gonna either eat the sheep or sell them to someone who was gonna butcher them for wool and meat anyway.

  i think, and this is just me of course...i'd play "stupid".

  that was an interesting story...what's that gotta do with us?

  not knowing your specific situation and the things you may have said to their "sheeple", i couldn't give you guidance and frankly...i dunno how they'd respond being as i dunno your family, but for mine i'd play stupid and have them spell everything out to a t and question every single little thing until they give up.

  allegories/illustrations...sigh. especially ones from a cult.

  (I wonder if someone were to dig up Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' 2,000 yrs from now after some natural cataclysmic event wiped out 99.9% of the Earth's population, and conclude there were tiny creatures who walked the Earth by taking it as a literal history instead of seeing it as a fictional work, or even set up a religion awaiting the return of the Messiah Bilbo, praying to him to return to redress the current "evils" they experience in their lives.)

  i prefer the universal truisms of aesop's fables to my book of horror stories. :)

  living well is definitely the best revenge. it's an uphill battle but i'm hoping to get there eventually.

  @adamah - only in the figurative sense, but you must admit, i look FANTASTIC in that suit ;)

  as far as revenge meaning they still control...i don't see it that way. i suppose to an extent, depending on what "revenge" means to you.

  i haven't been to a meeting in about a year, made up my mind about six months ago that jw's are just another religion and that its not for me.

  started dating a "worldly" girl 10 months ago and got engaged this past weekend.

  i'm having a hard time deciding who to invite to the wedding.
