Just wondering - - - Who actually votes on changes in doctrine? Is it just the members of the governing body? Do they have another group of advisors? My JW husband recently informed me (during an argument about the same) that there are MANY, MANY people involved in making these decisions - not just the GB. I always thought it was the governing body members who voted on it. Does anyone out there know?

Help! Spouse thinks JW religion the most logical
by bittersweet inmy husband and i were discussing what makes some people become jw's last night.
i was saying that if i hadn't grown up in it, i would have never been drawn to it at all.
i'm not a very spiritual person.

Are dubs sicker than average?
by SpiceItUp inmy mom is always complaining of something or another every week.
she is not that old and is in fairly good health.
she eats good and gets moderate exercise but she always has something wrong with her.. do you think that dubs get sicker than normal people cause of stress or maybe their body just overwhelmed with all the requirements finally says ok...if it takes you being sick to rest then you'll be sick?.

I'm sure they're just trying to "see things as Jehovah sees them." Although, between you and me, I would think that even HE would have to draw the line somewhere!!!

What is it with the stools already? My mother-in-law is a devout (fanatical) JW and she actually wrote me a LETTER last month about some new homeopathic remedy she is trying and she says her stool is now much larger and shaped like a pretzel. She was so descriptive I was surprised she didn't send a photograph!! And she just went on and on like it was her proudest moment ever. Just like your Mom, she always has some new ailment or malady. She says that "these last days are supposed to be difficult for people - lots of sickness" I think she makes herself sick just by thinking that way. I thought she was a complete lunatic before - - now I'm sure of it. This is a funny coincidence - we should check the latest Awake articles. I can hardly wait to read "Paradise Earth - Where Even Your Stool Will Be Beautiful!"

Do we have double standards about JWs?
by Skeptic indo we have a double standard as far as jws are concerned?
yes, i know that their claims of being better than any other religion sets them up for higher expectations.
and yes, generally jws are judgemental.

And to think that a free home Bible study could have cost so much is almost unimaginable, but it indeed has.
That statement is so sad, yet so true.

Mystical Medicine - Breaking Their Own Rules
by worldlygirl inmy jw husband's jw parents in florida (the ones who shunned him for years when he was disfellowshipped) were recently raving about their new ceragem massage bed.
the actually purchased one for their home for around $2,000.
they say many members of their congregation use these beds at a ceragem location there in ft. lauderdale.

It all seems hokey to me. Like I said, these people are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. What about the jade stones in the bed? Wouldn't they be like crystals, etc? I know I should just let this go, but the double standards they practice never fail to piss me off.
Anyway, thanks for all your input.

My JW husband's JW parents in Florida (the ones who shunned him for years when he was disfellowshipped) were recently raving about their new Ceragem massage bed. The actually purchased one for their home for around $2,000. They say MANY members of their congregation use these beds at a Ceragem location there in Ft. Lauderdale. The funny thing is, now on the Watchtower website they are taking a strong stand against Yoga because it is based on Eastern Medicine, mystical powers, etc. BUT, check out this Ceragem website:
http://www.ceragem.com/cgm_submenu4.htm
How can statements like "With the push of a single button, the CGM-3500 employs state-of-the-art technology directed in strict accordance with the holistic principles of traditional Eastern Medicine to deliver the most healthful and refreshing relaxation imaginable for the body, mind and spirit." be unlike the principles of Yoga?
Sooo... I need someone's help. What is the best way to make a big deal out of this? If I send the info to my in-laws, they won't read it because they are very suspicious of my worldly ways and efforts to "stumble" their son. These idiots really think the bed does all sorts of things like lower blood pressure and cholesterol, improve bowel function (although that was more information than I wanted), help with weight loss, etc. I'd like for the Society to find out about all the Brothers and Sisters using it - many even purchasing their own. (And the not-so-nice side of me wants to see the inlaws lose the two grand they paid )
Any suggestions out there?
