Oh man, hubby and I love Prince's old stuff. It makes me sick that he's a JW now.
WHAT?? I heard he had studied at one point, I didn't know he'd gotten baptized???!!!???!!!!
i always found it funny that jws hated pop groups with a passion.
here's some groups, that i was always being had a go at for listening to, or told that they shouldnt be listened to...
guns n roses - for sexist and viloent lyrics.

After reading COC, it sparked a new interest in the bible for me. I am currently reading it without an organizations interpretation...For those bible readers out there, what bible do you read that's not New World Translation by the JW's?
i got the idea for this thread from one jessika posted and which contained a response from dede.. which form of final resting place do you prefer and why?
personally, i want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered at a particular place on the beach on deserted st. catherine's island, a barrier island on the georgia coast.
my children could get there by boat (the only way) and visit my spirit there - even though i know my spirit won't be there, i believe that somehow i will know they're there and what they're saying.. being buried in a box six feet under to lie in the same position througout all eternity doesn't appeal to me in the least.
Cremated. Burn baby burn.
.
spending so much time with the dubs, you probably regret losing your presious time with them all those years.. are you taking double bites, trying to make up for what you lost?
I also play all them "evil" video games.
JWbot - hehehehe...me too! I LOVE Mortal Combat. I remember when the witnesses lectured us about that game because of the mortalities and blood. What's your fav game?

Also our national anthem, Amazing Grace, and America the Beautiful were too patriotic to be sung. I also got lectured for my Nirvana album and had a friend tell me after playing her Rob Zombie CD she woke up in the middle of the night because she heard whispers coming from her closet door....
I say rock on to Pantera, old school Metallica, Godsmack, Static X, Fear Factory, Hatebreed and Mudvayne baby!!!! Thank goodness for my freedom from that cult!! WOOOO-HOOOOO!!!!
the witnesses like to always talk in black and white.
either you were saved or damned.
either you served god or satan.
The Bible says that any person who does not provide for his household, is worst than a person without faith!
J6OCR9 - excellent point!! I've known many brothers in congregations mooching off others...
No, I don't consider myself a worldly person. In fact, I consider myself to be more moral than many witnesses claim to be. If people were to look at strictly personalities, and ethics, they would discover that little ol me, an "apostate" was better association than many others that attend the hall.
Freedom96 - Your comment is often what I've thought myself growing up!!! I had "worldy" friends at school behave more morally than any of my JW friends.
And like others who've posted on here, I also feel the term "worldy" is of mere JW mindset. I do have to admidt when I discuss my fav porn with friends, I think, "how worldy of me" then I laugh an evil, proud, laugh.
your baptism date is supposed to be the most important time of your life.
i was 9 years old when i took the plunge.
i remember my baptism, mostly because, i was baptized twice.
October 26, 1991...I was 12. I agree with Pr_Capone...that was much too young. My father and I got baptized together. I did it to please my mother. Like most of you posted, I thought I'd see something beautiful. But after I was baptized, I got a bad feeling in my gut that I'd made a horrible mistake. 11 years later, thankfully my father and I don't believe a word of that bullsh*t.
ok, we all get them in the mail, but here's one geared towards us that i just wrote up.
feel free to add to it, as i'd love for it to go around a bit ^_^ .
copy and paste this into your response box because i just wrote it and i figure whattheheck, this could be good!!!
when you were a jw, did you witness a rather large enthusiasm from your congregation for passing fads?
what i mean is, one dub would start something and everyone would join in?
this was especially prevelant with the women of the congregations.. for instance, for a while every female dub was undertaking this strange diet where they basically drink this really odd and particularly disturbing looking mushroom that they kept in their fridge.
Amongst the sisters in the Hall, I'd say anorexia or bulimia is all the rage........let's see who can disappear first!!
LOL, like yeah, if I was anorexic I'd have more money to give to the society than on food....
In my congregations they even attacked Popples and Care Bears!! Saying they both had supernatural characteristics and how we need to be careful not to get caught up in that fad...Also, the sisters in the Chicago area were into Shacklee vitamins and lots of sisters with Candida problems.
anyone got plans to attend the memorial?.
i am going again this year.
not out of duty or for anyone else but for myself.
HELL NO I WON'T GO! This is the first year I haven't gone in my entire life!! w00t!!! Last year I went to a new congregation with my mom and sister and the people were typical asswhipes. When my family and I sat down in the back, an elder came up to us and asked us to please move up front. I started to argue, but my mom encouraged me to go with the flow. Ug, the dreaded front row seats...and we'd gotten there in plenty of time to get decent seats too. I wore a nice pants-suit. That's probably why.
