If she is not of legal age you STILL HAVE TO SIGN for her. Are you going to sign if she says "daddy please, I want to live" - you would be approving it - doc's won't do it without your signature. I hope this never happens to your daughter! I hope she doesn't die saying "daddy please......."

How bad did Worldly people treat you when you were a JW?
by El Kabong ini grew up in the society and had the pleasure .
some worldly people would actually hit jw'w because they did not salute the flag.
(this in a country that prides itself on freedom of religion).

Of course, I reasoned with myself that Jehovah's People always were Persecuted. Just look at our Brothers in Malawi and what they were enduring...the Society had many stupid urban legends. Like for instance Smurfs are demonic.

We must be about the same age. That was pushed so far that now it seems comical. I had not thought about that in a long time... LOL. I can't believe we fell for that. But... i guess we were just kids.
My "best friends" at the KH; I really never hardly talked with them after I graduated and moved away from the congeration. My "best friend" in school (who also happen to be my cousin) still talk today. I can call her day or night about anything. She was with me thru my divorce, thru my son's drug problem, thru every problem I have ever had (even when in school and I wasn't suppose to be associating with her).
She treated me better than any JW. The girls in the congeration would use me as a shoulder to cry on but when they had their problem worked out, I didn't exist. They could be very cruel.
I would pick "worldly" over a JW any day. -

I have.
I went to bars and got drunk. I went to college; I joined a club and 2nd year was president.
I took my boys on Easter Eggs hunts when they were still just crawling and them not even knowing what was going on. I hang Christmas lights every year whether my family is in the mood or not. I have kids at my house almost every weekend; I don't have to get up and go in service.
When my kids were old enough to play sports I became involved with the park and ended up coaching. I fought County Commissioner & the park board to save a pool that they wanted to get rid of; I won; the following year I joined the same board. I served an a board member 3 years.I became President over the entire park. I fought park volunteers, football players and cheerleaders that soccer should be allowed to become part of the park. I won. I have now been coaching 9 years.
I could never play sports, so i am "living my sports life" thru my sons. They play any/all the sports they want. When they decided to sit out a season, they sit out.
I am finally slowing down now and relaxing; to the amazement (and approval) of my husband. That is why I found this site; maybe I can put my "demons" to rest. -

At what age did you join the Witnesses?
by JH in.
at what age would a person have to be to join the witnesses and not suffer too much?.
if they are children, it robs their youth.. if they join in the teens, they won't get a decent education.. if they join at 20 years old, they will have to marry a witness.. if they join at 30, i guess that would be less destructive because they already are married, have children, have a house, an education and a job.. at what age did you join, and how did it affect you?

Born into it.
Baptised at 12.
DF'ed at 17. Reinstated at 18.
Began fading at 19.
Unless I am DF'd again, I will stay this way. Closure on JW's would be a closing with my family as well. WTBTS isn't worth written closure. Unspoken rule when I go and visit them, we don't discuss religion or my "real life".
Embalmed - Are you baptised? Are you planning on going to college? I suggested to a daughter of a JW that she start planning for college now. (she is also 16) Talk to her school counselor, tell the counselor honestly that her parents are not supporting her in continuing her ed. The counselor is helping her to began applying for grants/scholarships. If you are planning to leave when you are 18 you only have 2 years to prepare. -

Considered Suicide ?
by Guest 77 inafter reading about the two jw's committing suicide and larc's comments, how many of us have considered suicide?
i saw a movie about a man trying every trick in the book to committ suicide and failed.
it got to the point in the movie that you know his next new attempt would fail.. most likely some people prefer to die without committing suicide.

Flower - why is your situation depressing? I am asking because my son, 15, is being diagnosed with manic depression. I need help! Can you please enlighten me?
I have had major problems with coming to deal with JW's being a false witness. My son was not brought up as a JW, but he is depressed.
Could you possibly enlighten me on depression? I thought I knew but apparently I am totally ignorant on the subject.---thoughts just pop into my head sometimes and I have found myself just wishing I had succeeded when I had the chance since its no longer an option.----
My son has tried. I can not consede to losing him. Pleae help me understand. Please help me help him. I can not bare to lose him.
Please,
Deborah
