  My DF'd brother will never go back!

  some years ago my brother was disfellowshipped.

  not for apostasy, but for more mundane reasons.

  he has not had the internet, he has not studied the bible much since being disfellowshipped, he has been feeling guilty and considering returning for the last six months.. i had no way of contacting him, having lost touch in the midst of his many moves.

  i don't know if its coming down from the impossible high of the aposta bbq weekend or just hormones but i feel horrible today.

  all last night i tossed and turned unable to sleep - i felt like i was going through a series of hallucinations rather than dreams.

  i kept hearing voices - really sharp right up in my ear.

  merrymagdelene is back home and agreed to me letting you know that her mother died on friday morning...understandably she doesnt feel much like posting at the moment..but will let us know her feelings as soon as she is able...the memorial service will be held on the 29th... (((((merry))))))

  no, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.

  it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".

  of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.

  Highlander - I noticed the same thing you did regarding the elder and his "wife's daughter" - It shows that there was "a lot of love going on there". My husband has never said "those are my wife's sons" (he is their stepdad) He says "those are our sons". I feel sorry for the wife's daughter - if he refered to her this way can you imagine how she must have felt growing up with him?

  I agree with Yesidid, there must be a lot of young ones leaving (thank God!) for this to be an issue.

  (Pg. 4) …At any rate, there is nothing to be gained by indulging in “if onlys”….Then look to the future, not the past.

  This to me is a submininal message as JoeGrundy brought up. "If only" the end had come in '75 "this" would have never happened. Don't look at the past misgivings of our belief - look to the future.

  (pg. 5) Remember, if we were to leave Jehovah, we would still have problems.

  Are parents turning their backs on Jehovah due to their children leaving? Are they trying to reinforce that "without Jehovah's" blessing their life would become only a problem. When first leaving i felt that everything that happen wrong in my life was because i had turned my back on Jehovah. I felt guilt and felt that I would never be able to go back and completely please "him". That my destiny was to live a miserable life full of problems due to me turning my back on Jehovah. This reinforces that they are still using the same pitch that they were using before '75.

  i was raised from the womb until the age of 16 as a jw, i was never really a part of it.

  i never got baptized, by the end i hated everything about it.

  the worst part was not being able to voice any opinions i had on the religion, not unless i wanted them to fall on deaf ears and be considered immoral.

  Wouldn't it be rather remarkable, if all of “this” was ran by “some guy” who decided to get his jollies by playing God to see if he could get people to follow him? Some guy making up a religion (non-profit/non-taxable) to see if people would actually fall for it; finding a landfall; and living the good life off of a religion created simply to see if it could be done.

  Did Rutherford have any wealthy relatives/friends that could have helped him out with this?

  I am halfway joking about 'the theory".

  I have looked on other sites, and I can’t find any names. No way can anyone make that much money and not have a trail to follow.

I know we have discussed this on JWD, but my question is the same as buildupnotteardown, who is living "the good life"? I understand about the amount of real estate bought and sold. I learned on this site about the distribution center on Furman St. being sold and turned into condos. I understand how each congregation has to pay back (with interest) money 'loaned' to them by the WTBTS. And I understand the scam with the WTBTS 'rebuilding' homes for brothers and sisters that were hit during the disaster.

I understand that they are a (tax free) multi-million dollar printing company.

But who “has the mansion on the hill”? Whose pocket is all of this lining? Who is living ‘the good life’ off of the ‘works of the brothers and sisters’? Does the GB jump in there “limousine each evening and go to a mansion on the hill”?

I would like to know, as buildupnotteardown ask Cult News from Rick Ross , who is benefiting from all of the money? A person, a body of people has to be benefiting or why keep up the façade of being the only true religion?
