I haven't cracked a study book in forever. I love to go to the Sunday meeting and everyone pulls out their folded marked up WT and I pull out my obviously new never opened study copy. Also i have my bookbag open in my lap and have the magazine covering my phone so I can surf and text.

Can the Demons infect a computer?
by Comatose inno self respecting jw would doubt the demons ability to attach themselves to physical objects.
for example if a jw put a poster on their wall of a pentagram or some other "satanic symbol" that's a "doorway" for the demunz.
it's inviting them into your home.

only if you bought the computer from a rummage sale

Education Double Standard
by Tech49 inthis is the kind of thing that really burns me.. .
wtbts holds out an extreme double standard in regards to education.
most, if not all, of you know how they feel about obtaining an education past high school (in the u.s.).

I am a prime example of this. I was raised JW. I got straight A's all through school without even trying. I was an excellent athlete, but of course, could never play sports. I was constantly hounded by coaches who saw me outperform their prime athletes in physical education class. This too I did without much effort. I had no real ambition to be a full time servant, but this is what was pounded into my head. So I never tried in school, graduated early, being told I was doing the right thing. Soon after graduating high school I moved out and immediately quit attending meetings and began indulging in drugs, alcohol, and sex. I ended up in prison for a few years because of an altercation. When I got out I moved back in with my parents and began attending meetings again. I went to a community college to get a AD in auto tech and now make a decent living, though we do struggle.
I often think about how my life would be if I had been allowed to pursue my passions.

lol....that reminds me....I don't know how many jws I've heard say don't shop at rummage sales because it's all demonized. I've often wondered....why do the demons only inhabit used items?

Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw
by Daniel1555 ini have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.
actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).
however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.

I'm in a similar situation. Although my wife isn't quite as zealous. Our meeting attendance is very sporadic. She doesn't have doubts like me....she's just lazy and doesn't want to go. I think the main question is do you want to have contact with family and friends who are jws? If you do....fading is the way to go. If you dont care....why not DA yourself.

I agree that it's just more of the 'dumbing down' that's been going on. I find it laughable that much of the new literature is nothing but pictures because all the new people they get are just illiterate barely functioning over-medicated zombies who can't form a coherent thought of their own. An elder in my cong actually told me he wished we could switch to studying the simplified WT. I told him if we do, I won't be there.

Wow! My brother is just too dumb for words....
by Witness My Fury inok we know it's a stupid mind control cult but sometimes to see it in the flesh is just a slap in the face.... i lent my brother karen armstrongs the bible - the biography, which is a great book to help understand the bible, i have read it twice and it was very informative.
i had hoped my brother may find it likewise and actually learn something.. not a frickin chance.
he gave the book back today with an agitated tone and told me it was crap and that he didnt want me to show him any other books, he had got to page 21, so had only managed the introduction and 12 pages of chapter 1 of a book with 229 pages (300+ if you include glossary and appendix).. inside were some postit noted with notations he'd written about dates quoting from insight volumes and scripture inspired to "correct" the dates in the book for events and dates of reigns like manassahs and hezekiahs.. basically he got mad that the book disagreed with what his drone cult brain read in the wts volumes and refused to read any further.. ffs he didnt even look at another outside source at all, just assumed the book was making error after error on dates and got annoyed.. i am shocked he could be just that dumb.

Truthseeker: my wife s a witness. She knows how I feel. I've explained my feelings and things I've come to realize. I thought if I laid it out in a factual reasoning matter she would see what I see. She doesn't. She thinks the "evil apostates" have infiltrated my mind. She even went to the elders when she was angry with me about something totally unrelated and told them I didn't want to be a witness anymore. I was able to explain that away without much to do, but I'm sure I'm on the radar. I haven't been in service for over a year and meeting attendance is sporadic. My wife does respect my feelings though. She used to tell me to just tell the elders how I feel, thinking that they would "help" me. I finally helped her realize that the only thing that would come from that is I would get df'd, shunned by everyone I know, lose my job. etc.....

Help needed: JC standards/questions for "Drunkenness"
by respectful_observer ini'm hoping those of you in the jwn community may be able to help me out.
an acquaintance (of legal drinking age) may soon be sitting for jc under the charge of "drunkenness".. to those of you who have direct experience either serving on a jc, or being the subject of a jc related to the misuse of alcohol:.
- could you provide a list of questions that were asked of the accused?.

It's all who you know. At my brother's witness wedding, we all got drunk. Like stupid drunk. Lots of elders there. Not a word was said.

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I've been lurking for awhile. A little background...I've been a JW all my life. Baptized at 16 because all my friends were doing it. I'm now in my 30s.....married with children. I live in a very small town. I work for an elder who is basically viewed as Jesus himself in this area. He's a very nice guy and a great guy to work for.
For the last couple years I've been having serious doubts. Doing my own research I have come to the conclusion this is a hypocritical cult that I want nothing to do with. Also believe they are wrong on some major doctrines. However, my whole family are JWs. I'll be shunned by EVERYONE if I leave. Also, I'm very established at my job. And there aren't good jobs readily available being that's it's a small community.
My question is..has anyone been in a similar situation? And have you lost employment because of leaving the org? And is there any legal recourse if I did lose my employment over this?
Thanks in advance.
