I would LOVE to hear something about a talk saying "like Noah's ark we're now closing the doors." I don't think it will happen, but man oh man would it be phenominal if it did. I'm assuming he just got back from a session where they stressed how really, REALLY, Superdy-duper close to the end we are.

Shocker! Watchtower says DON'T share experiences with demons..."it's promoting Satan!!"
by Witness 007 inan incredible turn around when you see the watchtower index full of demonic handbags, houses, idols etc.
etc.. the new bookstudy book "keep yourselves in god's love.
" p.191 was a shocker for me!

I think this is a good step, when people talk about demon attacks it usually makes them seem rather crazy. Perception is reality, can you imagine being a study going to your first talk and hearing demon stories from the platform or in the audience. I wouldn't even hear the next sentence I would be gone from the meeting before it was completely out of the speaker's mouth.

My o' My, How Things Change. I Never Even Noticed.
by AK - Jeff infour years ago when i first came to this site, i was quite actively still proving, and reproving to myself that i did the right thing in leaving my lifelong religion as a jehovah's witness.
some of the key components of my research were found at randy's site, especially the section on 'spiritual food at the proper time', a listing of thousands of watchtower quotations without commentary.
another was the 'quotes' site, and spin-offs of those ideas in a site called 'reexamine'.. i had bookmarked many of those sites.. now, just out of boredom, and with a desire to find a couple of favorite watchtower quotes for use in a future bit of blogging, i find that none of the above are even there anymore.

Doctor Bob's website is the one that made me leave, it's funny how it's the simple things that effect some people. For me he had this fantastic gif up where it was a man running around a box constantly and it had the schedule of JWs and underneath asking if they really had time to examine anything.
It was the single greatest thing I saw JW related, sadly that's gone.
I think youtube is the next medium that is going to get folks out in droves, that is if youtube stops with their ridiculous terms of service. Or if JWs ever figure out false flagging...

What positive things can you take from being raised JW?
by Mickey mouse inrather than getting too down about wasting the best years of my life in a cult .
i have a really great imagination.
you have to have one to get through five hours of meetings per week at a young age.

I learned public speaking, and speaking from notes.
I learned how to come up with a convincing argument.
Leaving caused me to research how all those convincing arguments were filled with logical fallacies LOL.
When I left I didn't have any friends, so I learned to be self-sufficient and very self-reliant.
I learned how to read extremely fast to get through the studies.
I believe there's an article online regarding the creativity that most JW children come into due to the restrictions placed on them. I think I'm a pretty creative guy and I think it's because of the restrictions placed on me as a child.
Alot of times though I can't help but think what could've been if I wasn't a JW, I'm curious if I'd be more well adjusted...

The "They Are Imperfect" Excuse
by LouBelle indoesn't it just make you sick to your stomach?.
dozens of doctrine changes that effect the lives of the rank and file: the fds are only imperfect men and didn't understand the bible truths at the time.. pedophiles that are protected or not reported and allowed to stay in the congregation: these men are imperfect and this sin isn't unique to jws.
the organisation has it's problems just like any other...they are not perfect after all.. all their prophesies - failed: the fds are only imperfect men and have never claimed to be a prophet.. i am truly sick of this overused excuse.

Reniaa if I may comment here...
I don't want to sound confrontational to you really, you're happy being a JW which is cool. I'm glad for you. I just want to give you some facts to think about OK, you don't have to agree with them, just some things to think about.
Show me the religion in our times that is so good that not a single member is a pedophile, murderer, taxman, liar etc?
I assume you mean tax cheat here. If you do enough research you'll find a religion that is like this, I'd like to say Quakers or Christadelphians. The last one is just ridiculous because you need to qualify the type of liar. If my wife gets a horrible hair cut and is just so happy with it then asks me what I think I'm going to tell her she looks fantastic. Does that make me a liar? I suppose it does, but would you really use something like that to discredit a religion? Remember Jesus said a fine tree cannot produce worthless fruit, please don't use the no true scotsman fallacy here. I also don't think that people have a problem with FORMER murderers and FORMER pedophiles being in an organization at all. However the problem (at least that I have) is that there are numerous cases of stuff like this being covered up. I have an 18 month old daughter, I know there is an accuseed child molester in my former congregation. However if he was disfellowshipped for it, I wouldn't know what he was disfellowshipped for, if he transferred in from another congregation I wouldn't know he was disfellowshipped at all. So if I brought my daughter to the Kingdom Hall and let her talk to and play with other JWs (which any parent would let their child play with trusted church associates) I'm essentially playing Russian Roulette.
That's the issue here, it's not that people are sinner that are JWs, it's that because of the policies the sin can cause GREAT harm to people. Imagine my daughter got molested because I didn't know the man she was playing with at the hall was a former, or accused child molester. Would you think someone should've told me or would you chalk it up to imperfect men? My child's innocence stolen, she's going to be in therapy the rest of her life, she'll never recover from something like that, would you say that a policy should change or would you say "hey it's imperfect men, get over it"?
You are the ones using imperfection as an excuse to condemn which is just nuts because you then end up looking for perfection where it doesn't exist.
Gods imperfect followers on earth weren't marked by their perfection but their ability to take Godly instruction and refinement when they have let mistakes creep in.I'm pretty sure, and correct me if I'm wrong here that what folks are talking about is the inability to admit when they're wrong. That's the problem with calling yourselves "The Truth", because if you have to change a teaching then it brings up a dichotomy. If they simply said "We try to follow God's laws in the bible as closely as we can"; I don't think there would be an issue at all. If you ask someone "The teaching that changed, does that mean you were teaching something false" the answer you'll usually get is "No, it was truth at the time." You've probably heard this before but when JWs were teaching that organ transplants were wrong, if someone interpreted differently and received an organ transplant they would've been disfellowshipped. However then the teaching changed, they wouldn't say they were wrong about the disfellowshipping and the man was right, his disfellowshipping would remain and he should've listened to the organization. There's testimony of Fred Franz to verify this. There wouldn't be any issue if the organization didn't claim to have truth and that all their current teachings are right.
Do you understand what I'm getting at here? If you would like me to explain further I can try.
One of the reasons I am not in a christendom religion is there inability to be refined from false teaching they accummulated from the great Apostasy hundreds of years ago.
Reniaa, you're not being honest here. Every single christendom religion has changed their teachings from what they had at the Great Apostacy. In fact if you just go back 50 years, I defy you to find one religion that hasn't changed their teachings.
Jws have ripped themselves away from these teaching and still need constant refinement so they are a work in progress until 'what is imperfect is made perfect'
But they already say they are "The Truth", if they need refinement then what they're teaching now cannot be truth. It's a dichotomy.

Video response that typifies JW Stereotype...
by Tuesday ini received this video response to one of my questions today, it was the question about where the great crowd is located.
you might want to see the video but basically it talks about my questions offending "almighty jehovah", also talks about me being disfellowshipped (which i'm not).
i think it's a must-see for the absolute epitome of jw knee-jerk reaction to any sort of questioning of their beliefs... without further ado, here's the video.... .

Obviously it would have to be worded right, but I would like to ask her if she needs my question translated into Spanish so she can know what I'm talking about before she comments.
Well then I'm glad I didn't comment on that LOL. I thought the accent was spanish, apparently I suck at spotting accents.

Oh yeah she hurt my feelings by assuming a bunch of information about me that was wrong and made herself look ignorant LOL.
Obviously it would have to be worded right, but I would like to ask her if she needs my question translated into Spanish so she can know what I'm talking about before she comments.

Quite a few times, local stuff though. I was on in Maine alot for the promotion I worked up there, around here I've been on a bunch of news flashes regarding the promtions I'm involved in. I was on TV in Kentucky a few times during my stint in OVW. My goal was to get a quick spot on Raw just getting squashed or something, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

To each their own, I really hated the book. I didn't find her humor that funny, more so because every joke I'm pretty sure I heard at some point on VH1's I Love the 80's. I also feel her falling into EVERY SINGLE stereotype that JWs have about what Ex-JWs do once they leave is harmful. Here is my opinion on the book found on this thread...\
