The End...Finally!
by XJW4EVR inthis morning the bastard that attacked my wife with the intention of raping her was sentenced to 25 years to life plus five years.
he must serve a minimum of 30 years.
thank god for the three strikes law (i know that some of the liberals on this board may not join me in my gratitude for the voters of california's wisdom in making that law).

I'm glad you received justice.
I'm a liberal and I'm not opposed to the three strikes law, in a case like this though the crime he committed itself would warrant to me a long prison sentence. The problem that I have, or most liberals have with the three strikes law is that there are cases where the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Like if a person commits three crimes that involve theft to get drug money, then maybe they would benefit more from getting off drugs than a long prison sentence or life imprisonment.
Violent criminals liberals and conservatives agree should be taken out of society.

Found Out I'm a JW urban legend...
by Tuesday ini don't think i've said but i have a sister that's a bit older than me, well actually 9 years older to be exact.
about a year ago we were discussing our whacked out childhood and she started talking about my mother at meetings sitting with a guy that she was interested in.
it kind of made sense to me because my parents got divorced around the same time i was born, my father ended up with a live-in girlfriend shortly after, my wife always tells me that couples don't split up unless they have another person in mind.

I don't think I've said but I have a sister that's a bit older than me, well actually 9 years older to be exact. So it basically fit that my Father had someone in mind and so did my mother.
My sister tells me about this guy who seemed like a nice guy, he was really interested in my sister and playing with me (since I think I was 2 or possibly a bit younger at the time). She said my mother really liked him, he sat with us at meetings and then all of a sudden out of nowhere the guy kills himself. Apparently he left a note, but my sister didn't know about the note or anything.
So cut to last week, I've been contacting people from my former congregation left and right. One of the guys I contact tells me about this scandal in my old hall where a guy who was accused of being a child molester (apparently there were some witnesses) killed himself, there was a big thing in the hall because he was dating a single mother with two children. I couldn't believe it, after the obligatory "Holy Shit!" I had to connect the dots. Only one guy had committed suicide in my hall, and he was dating my mother at the time. Now I've heard that story quite a few times since being on the ex-JW boards, the child molester who got away with the crime is dating a single mother with a small boy (that he can go after) but he's confronted by the elders has remorse and kills himself.
Who knew, I'm the urban legend.

James Hetfield from Metallica was raised as a Christian Scientist so his lyrics seem to hit a bit close as he was in another cult. I think his best lyrics for children who are leaving "the truth".
Dyer's Eve
Dear Mother
Dear Father
What Is this Hell You Have Put Me Through
Believer
Deceiver
Day in Day out Live My Life Through You
Pushed onto Me What's Wrong or Right
Hidden from this Thing That They Call Life
Dear Mother
Dear Father
Every Thought I'd Think You'd Disapprove
Curator
Dictator
Always Censoring My Every Move
Children Are Seen But Are Not Heard
Tear out Everything Inspired
Innocence
Torn from Me Without Your Shelter
Barred Reality
I'm Living Blindly
Dear Mother
Dear Father
Time Has Frozen Still What's Left to Be
Hear Nothing
Say Nothing
Cannot Face the Fact I Think for Me
No Guarantee,it's Life as Is
But Damn You for Not Giving Me My Chance
Dear Mother
Dear Father
You Clipped My Wings Before I Learnt to Fly
Unspoiled
Unspoken
I've Outgrown That Fucking Lullaby
Same Thing I've Always Heard from You
Do as I Say Not as I Do
Innocence
Torn from Me Without Your Shelter
Barred Reality
I'm Living Blindly
I'm in Hell Without You
Cannot Cope Without You Two
Shocked at the World That I See
Innocent Victim Please Rescue Me

Let me condense every single e-mail sent by JWs that's ever been posted on this message board.
Ignore EVERYTHING that's going on in life, ignore when brothers do bad things, ignore any information contrary to what JWs believe, ignore any doubts you might have.
There's paradise close-by because we're in the end, ignore EVERYTHING and ONLY think about PARADISE.

Even if I thought it was evidence for a creator I wouldn't say a sense of humor, just unique. But it is most certainly proof for evolution given it's retro-viruses.

Are You Still Thrilled With President Obama?
by minimus inhis motto is "yes we can!
" has he done what you expected?
any concerns?

I'm getting less and less thrilled with everything he does it seems. I was a super gung-ho Obama supporter. I even volunteered to be a phone representative for the battle ground states. Everything that I voted for him on, closing Gitmo, ending the Iraq war, a healthcare optional plan, it's just failure left and right. I'm not saying that I won't support him if he picks up the slack and starts getting some of his campaign promises done, but at this point I'm really disappointed. I've said before I'm willing to give him a full year before I'm REALLY anti-Obama; protesting and such like I was with G.W. Bush.

New Changes the WT Society should make next
by monkeyman inok, here are some things to think about for fun since they wont ever be enacted.

I guess if we're going with some changes that NEED to be made.
1.) Get rid of the two witness rule in cases of molestation. Accusations get reported to the police immediately which disfellowshipping is subject to their investigation.
2.) Blood doctrine- Since blood fractions are a conscience matter and blood transfusions are only made up of red blood cells which are technically a blood fraction blood transfusions are relegated to a conscience matter.
3.) Disfellowshipping - Since Jesus got rid of the OT law, this custom is gone. Essentially people can be reproved and their priviledges taken away, but the shunning portion ESPECIALLY that of family members has to go.
Now for the ones that I would like to see:
1.) Accepting Evolution: It's time for at least one Governing Body member to read some sort of scientific text to see just the OVERWHELMING amount of evidence for evolution. They need to stop attacking science.
2.) Encourage higher education: Ignorance breeds ignorance, if JWs accept evolution then really they won't have much to fear about what kids might learn in college. You know except those critical thinking skills.
3.) Door to Door preaching is optional: The scriptures do not support EVERY person preaching, so make it optional and stop counting time.
I'm sure I could think of more, I'm really tired out though. Having to keep up with a toddler is just draining.

What would you say are THE core teachings of the JWs...
by Tuesday inhey everyone,.
getting some feedback, what would you say are the core teachings or were the core teachings of the jehovah's witnesses.
the teachings that make them unique, the teachings that if they weren't there the jehovah's witnesses wouldn't exist.. i would say the teaching of 1914 and god choosing jws as the right religion would probably be the core teaching.

Approved association with Jehovah's Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah's Witnesses. What do such beliefs include?
That the great issue before humankind is the rightfulness of Jehovah's sovereignty, which is why he has allowed wickedness so long. (Ezekiel 25:17) That Jesus Christ had a prehuman existence and is subordinate to his heavenly Father. (John 14:28) That there is a "faithful and discreet slave" upon earth today 'entrusted with all of Jesus' earthly interests,' which slave is associated with the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. (Matthew 24:45-47) That 1914 marked the end of the Gentile Times and the establishment of the Kingdom of God in the heavens, as well as the time for Christ's foretold presence. (Luke 21:7-24; Revelation 11:15–12:10) That only 144,000 Christians will receive the heavenly reward. (Revelation 14:1, 3) That Armageddon, referring to the battle of the great day of God the Almighty, is near. (Revelation 16:14, 16; 19:11-21) That it will be followed by Christ's Millennial Reign, which will restore an earth-wide paradise. That the first to enjoy it will be the present "great crowd" of Jesus' "other sheep."—John 10:16; Revelation 7:9-17; 21:3, 4.This to me is the most interesting because it outlines the specific teachings that you need to accept in order to be a Jehovah's Witness and what specifically separates them from other religions. The really funny part about it is that most of these teachings have changed over the years.
