by Tuesday ini got an e-mail asking me if i wanted to get it so i said what the hell and got it.
it's not too bad, i was expecting the usual "pity me" stuff, but in truth the stories were interesting as they were just the normal "i left because i wanted to" stories and not the absolute horror stories out there.
just a curiosity question.

by snakeizz inokay you guys here is my story.....it might be a lil' long winded, but please bear with me....it's interesting.... well i have been away for 8 years...i stopped when i was 17 and i'm 25 now.
it all started when i became a non baptized publisher at age 14. i was a very good speaker/reader.
the elders were waiting for me to get baptized and encouraged me to do so.

Sounds vaguely similar to my story, I was good on the stick and they pushed me to the moon. Similar reason I was counselled too because I grew long hair. Thanks for writing this, it was an ecouragement to hear someone else had the same problem with the same trivial rule. I once sat down and came up with three pages of scriptures saying it doesn't matter what you look like God will still love you, but I guess the one scripture saying that it's a shame for men to have long hair overrides the three pages.

Old WT book values...
by Tuesday inmy father decided to get rid of all of his wt books and various apostate literature, the wt material i really don't want to keep just because i'm sure i'd end up reading it and getting angrier and angrier as i read it.
i was thinking of trying to get rid of this stuff on ebay any ideas of how much these might be worth (i put the copyright in parentheses after the book title)

I was researching a bit on abebooks.com and some of the Rutherford things were over a hundred dollars. I'm sorry if I'm being picky but since my Dad spent so much time doing reseach on this the price definetly has to be right or I'd feel bad just getting rid of them just to get rid of them. I promise not to post too much on Ebay LOL, I'm too busy buying old AWA remco figures on Ebay anyway ;) Thanks for giving me ideas for the prices thanks for the help

I feel kinda wierd he wanted to get rid of these saying he spent ten years in the divorce case with my mom all about witness stuff. But hopefully I can fetch a couple hundred off these and help him out a bit. I'm hoping for like a price for some of this stuff so I can figure out a minimum bid and a possible buy it now price. Thanks for any help you all can give me.

Yeah the bless you when people sneeze I never would've done. I lived with my wife before getting married about a year, I don't think I could've gotten away with that as a witness. I frequent christian shops to buy overly christian things to put on my desk at work and laugh at during the day, I probably wouldn't be doing that as a witness. I laugh at everything and have a good time during the day, which I wouldn't have done as a witness, on cold Saturday mornings I stay in bed. Tuesday nights I watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy which I would've been at the meeting for and probably wouldn't be allowed to watch anyway. Sundays I go to training which I wouldn't be able to do because I would be at the meetings. I'm voting in the next election and actually pondering running for office, which I never would've done as a witness.

Hard to get over: No New System
by confusedjw ini have to tell you something.. i really find it hard getting over the idea of no new system and all that it meant to me.
to be with my children and their children forever in perfect health.. too many days it just leaves me empty.
i just wish i could shake it and enjoy life, but the idea that we just live for 70 years and die kills me.

Actually I found that a little creepy anyway, if you think about it if you lived forever what happens if you end up marrying your great, great, great grandparent. Since they'd be resurrected it's entirely possible, and how would you know that you were related to them? Plus living forever? I get bored with my life now, I can't even imagine if I had to do this forever. Do you want to swim today? Nah I did that for 6 years every day, I'm sick of swimming. Do you want to go horseback riding? Nah I did that for 10 years everyday, I'm sick of horseback riding. Do you want to play guitar? I've done that for 25 years, I know every instrument ever created....you get the point. New system never appealed to me.
