So speaking as an ex-JW how I would've answered when I was a JW

1. What is the most fundamental reason you do not accept the Roman Catholic Church to be the one true institution of God?

Because they pray to Mary which the bible strictly tells you not to pray to anyone but God. They also make graven images of their God, they use a cross in their worship which is a pagan practice. Finally the problem with Child Molestation in the Catholic Church using the scripture that "By their fruits you will know them".

2. What is the most fundamental reason that you accept your organization to be the one true organization of God?

When I was a JW I guess the answer would be that they were the only ones who would change their religion as they learned truth instead of sticking with their proven false teachings. They only worshipped God, they didn't worship any other deities, they didn't take part in any pagan traditions and the followers knew their bible far better than any Catholic.

Now I know that essentially everything that applies to Catholics also applies to JWs, which in turn applies to all religions. Hence why I'm an atheist.

Science is not God’s enemy. I’m all for science, for example, Einstein’s theory of Relativity helped to determine that the universe is still expanding. Meaning that the universe had a starting point, that’s what we know as the “Big Bang” theory. The Big Bang theory sounds a lot to me like the creation account in Genesis. Science helped me to change my stance regarding what I believed to be one of God’s commandments for Christians, to abstain from blood transfusion. Through science I learned that blood is not a liquid but a tissue (or an organ), that a blood transfusion is not the same as eating blood (due to the way that the body process blood in the digestive system). So, if science proves beyond reasonable doubt that there is no Creator and/or that the flood (regional or global) never occurred, I’ll be the first one burning my bible and in line to worship the flying spaghetti monster.

I don't think this is exactly a fair statement. Mainly because there will always be unknowns and through those unknowns every believer will insert God. For instance Ancient Greeks believed Zeus hurled lightning bolts to earth, now we know the cause of lightning and it has nothing to do with Zeus. However a believer of Zeus could simply say "That is the method Zeus uses to hurl his lightning bolts". There is a .00083rd of a second before the big bang that is unaccounted for, that .00083rd of a second is where God is inserted. God was said to have created everything immediately into existence just as they are now, we have a fossil record to prove otherwise. The Old Testiment says that a Global Flood occured because God flooded the ENTIRE Earth. We now have ice cores amongst other things that prove otherwise. The Bible says that God made the sun stand still, Astronomy has shown otherwise that the Earth is moving and the sun is stationary. With every passing discovery the window to insert God into becomes smaller and smaller, just because CURRENTLY there's a small space of unknown in the origins of the universe doesn't give anyone a free pass to insert whatever they want into that gap. It would still require proof of some sort, and proof does not mean that because it can't be proved otherwise or there's no other answer. I'd say if I were you, I'd start practicing the "Rather you didn'ts" and get ready for the beer volcano.

i had decided to take it but now i've read some more about it and now i've no clue...my appointment is tomorrow.

i'm 35 and healthy other wise so i'm not in the risk group.. thanks.

I would take it, my wife got the vaccination and I didn't. Guess which one of us got the H1N1 flu? If you guessed my wife, you guessed wrong. The H1N1 is no joke, it sucks royally. I didn't know it was possible to be as cold as I was while still sweating profusely. I had asthma at one time and the H1N1 was the first thing to bring out an asthma attack in me since I was 14.

I'd like to see Neanderthals to see what their regular life was like, if they had spoken language or not.

That's the number 1 thing I'd want to see, other than that I wouldn't mind checking out 6000 years ago to prove the earth wasn't created then, check out ancient Israel to show that it was nothing more than a small desert tribe, I'd like to take pictures of the ancient world wonders. Oh and Woodstock, I would've loved to have been at Woodstock.

As for going back to make sure CT Russell met an untimely end, I don't think Russell was the problem it was Rutherford.

I almost shat myself at this thought being that Warwick is where I live. I realized they meant Warwick, NY and not RI. That would've been one of the funnier moves of irony I can think of, the headquarters of the organization moving to my town.

What is the WORST witness social function you went to and WHY?

my sister called me tonight, and reminded me of this, i had forgotten.

- there was an engagement party and the whole cong was invited.

- the fourth of six kids, and it was in a function room with no bar.. everyone was allowed one glass of wine and no one was allowed to bring any.

I went to a JW wedding where the kitchen at the venue ended up having a grease fire so the fire alarm went off. That sent the entire wedding outside in the pouring rain. When everyone was let back in it wasn't 20 minutes before the alarm went off again and we were all out in the rain again.

I did go to a JW bachelor party as well, we just went to Wright's Chicken Farm and ate a bunch. Of course a bunch of food I don't really care for, so I ate the normal amount and watched an elder eat three bowls full of roasted chicken. This place serves entire chickens in a bowl too, it was insane. I couldn't believe anyone would eat so much.

The homeless sister and the $60,000 RV

i was in a congregation once which had a large number of desperately poor people in it.

there was an elderly sister, she lived near me, a sweet woman, who became homeless because her ramshackled old house caught fire.

around that same time one of the overseers (imagine that using a slavery term), i forget if it was district or circuit overseer, came to town wanting a new rv/truck combo.

People change over the centuries and the God's they invent change with them. Imagine if we invented a God now, he would probably actually make sense now.
