Paragraph 9 and 10 state
9. Why were the temple arrangements being disrupted, and whom did Nehemiah blame for this?
9 Read Nehemiah 13:10-13. It appears that contributions to the temple had all but stopped by the time Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem. Not having this support, the Levites were abandoning their assignments and going off to work in their fields. Nehemiah blamed the deputy rulers for the situation. Apparently, they were not caring for their duties. Either they were not collecting the people’s tithes or they were not forwarding them to the temple, as they had been assigned to do. (Neh. 12:44) So Nehemiah took steps to have the tithes collected. He appointed trustworthy men to oversee the temple stores and future distributions.
10, 11. What privilege do God’s people have in supporting true worship?
10 Is there a lesson here for us? Yes, for we are reminded that we have the privilege of honoring Jehovah with our valuable things. (Prov. 3:9) When we make contributions to support his work, we are merely giving to Jehovah what already belongs to him. (1 Chron. 29:14-16) We may not think that we have much to give, but if the desire is there, all of us can have a share.—2 Cor. 8:12.
What do you think? In London and NY, new bethels are being built.
good morning folks!
i have believed in the 1914 jw core teaching for more than 20 years.
but now, after seeing much about this date, i find it uncomfortable and odd to believe it unquestionably, much less defend it against opposing thoughts.
ProfCNJ,
Well done for learning TTATT this year. You make very logical coherrant points. I think 1914 is nonsence also
Take care on your journey

this is what some spiritual women in the troof and that have been honoured with an invitation to the historic agm will be thinking.. i am going to admit one of the reasons i enjoyed the meetings was getting to dress up.
how many women out there found the meetings an excuse to dress up.
how often did you shop or co ordinate outfits so you looked great every meeting.. .
Absolutely!!! Shoes and bags. False nails. But I have to admit me and my duaghter didn't go as far as fake tan and eyelashes. We had to draw the line somewhere I suppose.
unconfirmed rumors (but credible).
new bible.
new insight volumes (starting 2014 theocretic school year talks will be taken from the insight books).

I'm assuming the online Study Guide will replace the Reasoning book?
Should be fun when they tell all the JW's to put an ipad in their mino bags
..from the scriptures why.... 1) material wealth is a sign of jehovah's blessing in our modern day.. 2) why jehovah blesses the growth of chicken populations, but allows active jehovah's witnesses to die in field service, or on the way to conventions, and on the way to celebrate the memorial?
3) why jesus is not your mediator?
bibles and a concordance only.
I think if you're loaded, it came from family, you earned it, or conned someone.
Nothing to do with God! I pray to God for money, and I ask my dad for it. Who answered me when I get it?
it occured to me on my way to work this morning that the concept of honor is rather silly at best, and more often quite dangerous if you really believe you have it.. think about it, what good is honor supposed to do?.
right of the bat we can all name a number of really stupid things which are associated with honor: honor killings, for instance, where a member of the family is murdered for insulting the families honor (you wonder how the honor ever actually tells people it has been offended), or duels which was a sport between aristocrats.
then there is the honor of dead people which can linger on for centuries, a certain prophet comes to mind, and it seems even dead objects like flags, banners, documents or nations can have honor which can be invoked to kill or maim others.. what are the legitimate invocation of honor as a reason to act a certain way?
cantleave- I think you have shown me and my family honour. You have made us feel like we matter.
now we have to answer...... 1) is there more than one god?
how do you choose the most senior god?.
2) if you chose religious texts to make this desicion, how do you know they are not purposfully misleading by an ill willed god?.
Cofty- I also admire what Jesus said in Matt chapter 23. It helps to read it in the meeting when my Judicial comittee members are commenting or taking meeting parts.
I imagine myself standing at the back and just reading it out loud to them in a colourful tone

cofty- one of your points about Jesus having charisma and using it in a decptive way is interesting. I think Matt chapters 5-7 have a lot of good advice. Don't you?

Cofty and Tammy,
You had a great 3hour exchange. Very funny you both make good points. Both winners this time. Good clean debate.
