After a 20-year absence because of disfellowshipment, it took me five years of sitting in the back row to be forgiven by men. That process of reinstatement was very enlightening. Two years later I DAed and never looked back.

How Did The Elders Treat You?
by minimus indid you get along with them?
did you ever incur their wrath?
most jws want to be “friends “ with the elders, kind of like having a policeman that you know who might help you out if you are in need..

There was one elder who exemplified everything an elder ought to be. Brother Kallquist,... RIP. He even told me after my reinstatement how unethical he thought the disfellowshipment/reinstatement process was. He was SO kind. SO loving. There were other brothers too, (not elders) who really were the definition of "christian servants".
But the other 5 were most assuredly "company men". One of them was a regionally acknowledged asshole. He got up in my face a couple of times because he knew I was trying to get reinstated and knew I wouldn't fight back. Since I disassociated myself, I went up to him at the local grocer and greeted him enthusiastically.
"HI BROTHER G****n! How you been?"
He was horrified and walked away. I told observers he had no choice but to ignore me because his Watchtower cult demands he shun people who leave. He kept walking.
That was a very nice day for me. (I also found out that his 2 teen/early 20's daughters left the cult shortly after I did.)

Wacky Baccy Eh! Cannabis Now Legal in Canada
by Simon inso canada has legalized pot / marijuana / cannabis and you can go to stores today and buy some.
the local news is covering it here in calgary with crowds of thousands expected at one of only 2 stores licensed in the city but last i saw, there were only 7 people in the line so who knows how popular it will be.
i imagine all the people who really wanted to get it could already get it easily so this is more about expanding the market to new users who will be less inclined to queue for hours on day 1.. apparently you'll also be able to purchase online with discreet delivery by canada post.

Sincere question to those who no longer believe in God
by nowwhat? ini get it, not a fan of yahweh the desert god.
but what about jesus?
anything wrong with his teachings like the sermon on the mount and the example he set.
-
Zoos
Nothing wrong with that sermon at all. Nothing wrong with any of the Don't-be-a-dick admonitions in the bible... and so many other books. However, it's all just a collection of human common sense, not "inspired truths" or "wisdom from above"

Anointed Delusions of Grandeur
by Kohanic inso here is something i've been wondering about.
how do the 'anointed' come to the conclusion that they are chosen?
is it some weird collective delusion of grandeur and how is it manifested in such ones?.

I think they have little tingly experiences and conclude they are now of the spiritually enhanced royalty class.

JW's on my front sidewalk
by OnTheWayOut inso last weekend, the jw's ring the bell and my wife answers.
we live in a heavily spanish neighborhood but don't really speak spanish.
i thought my wife was quite clear that she is a "sister" to them, but maybe the one in charge of the group didn't get the message.
