  Underlining the answers in the Watchtower magazines

  i found it funny how some people would literally underline just about everything in the watchtower magazine.

  the more the magazine was underlined and notes were written, the more a person looked spiritual.. did it ever happen that you didn't read your watchtower magazine, and you underlined just about anything just to look as if you read it?.

  One elder gave a talk about pre study once, he mentioned that 'back in his day' you would have been ashamed to not do prestudy and not have underlined the WT.

  The sunday following, EVERYBODY had used thick pink highlighters to underline their Watchtower study. Never a company yes man, I simply turned around and asked that exact elder what Watchtower we were studying, as 'I hadn't looked yet'. lol

  From that moment on, I decided never to do underline the Watchtower again, and I didn't. Six months later, I had left.

  Whats the craziest thing you've done at the Kingdom hall?

  i was given the "privilege" to open the kh early to switch on the heating.

  they even gave me my own set of keys.. every saturday night, me and another jw would drive to the kh with our amps and guitars and .

  jam until the early morning, using the stage and the kh's pa system.

  lol maybe it was.

  I know it certainly wasn't me on the platform; not at an assembly anyway.

  I worked for an elder once and he told me that the songs are not 'inspired or anything' so as long as I was respectful I could do anything to them. I really wish I would have kept the front cover to the mock CD case we made; somehow it got lost in time. It was a doctored picture of one of the prophets in a rap type pose.

  The funniest part was our name : THE UNRIGHTEOUS BROTHERS

  I remember getting a group of people together and 'remastering' one of the kingdom melodies ; adding some drum and bass and one of us rapped over the base beat, it was so funny.

  More to the point, it sounded brilliant , we were all musically minded and it worked a treat. We burnt the track on tape, and placed it in the Kingdom Hall sound system. We were going to play it as the opening song, but the C/O was visiting so we had to be good....

  If anybody out there remembers the time we done this, get back in touch !!! I miss you guys !!!!

  sorry if this has been brought up before (and i'm sure it has) but what are your nicknames?

  what people nickname you can be very telling about your personality and it's funny that they sometimes become more a part of you than your given name.. i have a long list of them..lol!.

  when i was a kid: carrie canary (cause i walked around singing all the time).

  Doubting the Trinity and Paradise

  i don't doubt the trinity, but again i had a talk with one of my jw friends and he gave me several bible passages which he wants me to explain, most deal with the trinity, and others deal with the belief in heaven.

  he says that they show that jesus was less than his father, and was a separate person, and the others state that paradise will be here on earth.

  argument: how come no one has seen god, not even jesus?

  The trinity is a load of rubbish, in my opinion.

  Jesus is not God in flesh, this is a crazy idea designed by early church leaders. Jesus was God's prophet, not part of a crazy 3 way godhead.

  .... those meetings are soooooooo boring.

  and don't get me started on the 3 days of hell i just spent at the district convention.

  (actually, if there isn't really a "hell", then it was 3 days of "non-existence") ok, ok, i get it.... as a witness, i should "give god glory", and make sure everything i do is being done in the glory of god.... but i don't need 3 days to get that point across.

  many here don't believe in god anymore so can't believe in any resurrection.

  so what do you expect once you die?.

  and if you believe that there is nothing after this life, are you working overtime in this life to get the most out of it because there is nothing after...

  A question that leads to great fear amongst those that at one time believed in God. If you were a dubya, you were so sure of things; such as everlasting life and what you can expect when you die. Yet when you find out information that contradicts that, you begin to get scared.

  We can let go of fear when we stare it in the face and consider the harsh realities that face us; that we are going to die. Remember the saying, the only thing to fear is fear itself ? Once we condier the fear of death, it will no longer scare us.

  Nobody knows what happens, yet I still feal there is an afterlife of somekind. Maybe more fool me.
