Should I send wedding pics or no?
by Billygoat ini've been thinking about esmerelda's post about her daughter being the flower girl of a jws wedding and not knowing about it.
then someone else posted about how they didn't know when their daughter got married.
(can't remember who...) it got me thinking...

Andi / Billygoat,
There is just not one right answer: you are mixed-up with a lot of emotions.
Your pride is demanding you not sending these pictures, and just the opposite when hoping for a better relationship.
I think that you have to send these pictures, can't hurt you (more then you are already) and maybe it keeps the door open for a change in your relations.
I've seen in my family how it hurts when mother-daughters don't see each other due to stubbornness. (from mother's side) My sister-in-law has been trying several times over the past 15 years to re-establish the relation with her mother, it is causing her a lot of pain - and she is still hoping that her mother will be her mother once again.
None of them (except me technically) or any member of her family are JW's.
Stubbornness and hope to reverse are just human I ‘m afraid.
Wish you and your husband lots of happiness

Would you take blood now that you are not a JW and why?
by Joyzabel ini have a friend, xjw, who is having medical problems and no matter what i seem to say to her, i can tell she has not gotten over the issue of <gasp> no blood.
since the no blood stand was so ingrained in us as jws (almost like the unforgivable sin) my friend just cant seem to let go of that thinking.
i know i get too clinical at times, so i need some help with reasons why taking blood is or is not an issue for you anymore.

I'am very much afraid for contaminated blood these days, so only when there is no other alternative - and not taking should cause death. CW

I lend those worths from another, and want to say to you that, recovering your strenght does take a lot of time.
My father had a stroke and was completely paralysed. He needed more then 2 years before he recovered but after that time, no one ever noticed that he has been so ill.
So, have faith

Fruitcake & Elumn,
First of all, congratulations with the new coming baby.
Second, it does’nt matter if he is not good at grammar - when it’s clear what he is talking about.
English is not my language so I make lots of mistakes (and often I did not understand what people are meaning when talking about “hubbies” for example) but I’m learning.
Visiting this forum, means that I read (a lot) of new threads and look which reactions there are - and most of the time, I don’t react. That does’nt mean that I don’t value the thread, only that I don’t have anything to say to it. (or it is too difficult for me) And with me there are a lot who just look and don’t reply (this thread viewed: 211 times and 12 replies.
So, I agree with Big Tex and others: Do’nt take it personally.
Go on with the good work.

Is everyone bitter against JW's?
by Redneckgurl ini have to post this question, because as i was trying so hard to talk to my husband about what i am learning and what others are saying, he is saying i am not doing this objectively at all, and only hearing things from bitter exjw's who are angry at the org for something.
i say this isn't true, i wasn't searching for answers due to a negative occurance in my life, and i don't believe everyone here was either.
he says i am only emotional about this, and trying to find reasons to prove all the things i have learned as wrong.

Deary,
No, I'm not bitter at all, when I start to study, I did'nt hear anything proven wrong. The interpretation from the bible seamed to be correct - and still I agreed wich most. I had a lot of difficulties seeing their way about our "faithful slaves" but once I decided that I did'nt belong to that class, I was'nt thinking of the organisation very much at all.
There were a lot of "silly" rules that I somehow accepted, being a member of a brotherhood. But having a large not-beliving family, I actually did what I want to do -like visiting on birthdayÕs.
But only after my daughter was kicked out (she wanted it and gave the elders al ammunition they needed to do so) and she constantly gave me information proving how much was wrong in the organisation, I saw that this was not the "truth" at all.
Officially I am still a JW, but I am no longer going to the meetings.
I don't think the elders will accept this much longer (having a lot of contacts with my daughter a.s.o.) and I will happily accept when they decided that I am no longer worthy to be a member, but I don't take steps : much easier for me. I do have friends in the hall and thus they are not forbidden to see or talk with me, thats all.
I think that, when your husband is willing to read any objective proof of wrongness, not out of bitterness (because it is quite clear that when people are kicked out - when they don't actially want it - only because they are questioning - they are no longer positively about "the Truth") then he must admit that things (the organisation) are not what they seemed to be.
I was at the memorial last week (for the last time) and they quote John 3 :16 : For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (King James version) what is directly in opposition to what they tell : everybody who is not in the truth will be destroyed in Armageddon. You just have to remind anybody that whole Christianity actially do believe in the sacrifice of Jezus Christ for mankind.
Hope that the eyes of your husband will get opened. -

Apart form the JW's, has any other cult ever tried to recruit you?
by In_between_days inwhat are your experiences in being a target for fresh meat in a cult?
have any other cult members besides dubs ever tried to recruit you?
i was sucked in once, while i was working at my store that i managed years ago a middle aged man in a suit bought an outfit from me.

No I was never in another cult, but my sister told me that there where 2 man at her door, offering her (in an aggressive manner) some literature. She refused and they told her: We are not JW.'s, we are Christians....
She still refused, closed the door actially while they were still persuding her (she never does something like that, but she started getting angry) - then she re-opens the door and told them: by the way, JW's are Christians too., which they absolutely denied.....
Asking her which group they were from ? She did'nt know but not mormons, not from the Scientologist, not Eastern (we call them PinksterGemeente) so do you know which group is on the road too ? (and certainly no Salvation Army)

Craig, ....according to proper American standards. ??? since when is the old European standard worthless? Remember, it was Europe (Greece starting) with the great thinkers - and only beause there was so much space at your side of the ocean, that people-with-ideas went to that side....... But I agree, it is time that the UK is going to use the metric system (then it won't be necessary to calculate everything to find out what they are talking about ) Regards, country_woman
