"God Save The Queen"
Sex Pistols
i have no intentions of starting a flame.
but, i have a few questions.. i was reading this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24652&site=3&page=1 and it occured to me that americans and brits have a lot not in common.
i will admit i am not very educated when it comes to england.

har har har, lifted from the pages of http://www.watchtower.org.
regarding this subject, you'll be glad to know that human efforts fail but if you get right with god via the jehovah's witnesses, jehovah will cure you in his own due time!!!.
so you see, they are still discouraging people from seeking professional help.. http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2001/7/8/article_03.htm.
Lisa,
"Jehoobers?" I love it!
Budda Belly,
If you're asking that question, you need to get outside more often.
how old were you when you lost your virginity and was it all that you thought it would be?????.
i was 19, and my first time was a complete let down.
i envisioned that gothic romance motif, all about romance and love, i didn't know what i was doing, didn't know sex was like that.
Yumbby,
Next time you get angry, give me a call.
i hate you all!
ex-jw's are a bunch of $&^%& style posters, all seam to have one thing in common.. they never stick around for a proper debate.. just fire away some accusations, and leave.. gets on my nerves.. why wont witnesses stay and make their point against reasoned arguments?.
chicken?
The only thing I "get" is that you need some help with spelling and grammar.
i was curious if anyone on this website is going to the jw memorial tonight?.
is anyone partaking?.
personal webpage-.
I finally got my invitation, last night. Pleasing my parents would be the only reason for attending. However, pleasing them at the cost of compromising my principles is unacceptable to me, and I will not attend. I did thank them for the invitation though.
do you remember those articles called "what is the meaning of life?".
there was almost one in every watchtower and books such as "live forever" had chapters devoted to the subject.
i think there was a picture of some lonely guy looking out to sea across a sunset with that typical witness depressed but joyfull look.. any way, i was thinking to myself after finding such an article on the web that i haven't been pre-occupied by such questions since leaving the borg.

Virginity is certainly not specific to JWs, although there are a lot of unusually old virgins within the JW ranks. Maybe that would be a good topic for a new thread - "What is the oldest age of a JW virgin that you know of?"
Years ago, I worked with a guy who appeared to me to be a virgin in his early 30s. I had a casual conversation with him one day and caught him using some Dub buzzwords, so I asked him if he was a JW. The answer? Yes. That same guy tried to pick up on the hottest lady in our office, one who was interested in wild, heavy metal type guys, rather than nerds like the virgin who tried to pick her up. The result was disastrous for him, as she told everyone in our office how he drove her home from work but intentionally passed the freeway offramp that she asked him to get off at. The poor guy had no chance! How embarrassing.
Peace.

"Flogging a dead horse" is an expression that means that something has been done ad nauseum - overkill. This thread has over 90 posts, and it's not particularly relevant to a "discussion forum for anything JW related." It's boring.
i am 36 yr old female originally from toronto ontario canada.
was raised jw till i was about 14. has anyone else had this happen in their hall?
the mom's (thank god never mine!
The accounts listed by all who have posted before me in this thread are consistent with my experiences as a JW. I can remember seeing kids getting beaten with belts at the district assembly because they couldn't sit still in 90 - 100 degree temperatures for 8 hours on a wooden seat at Dodger Stadium in July. The washroom and the ministry school room were also routinely used for beatings, as was the exterior of the front entrance to the kingdumb hall. I remember sitting next to some fine witnesses at a district assembly who brought an actual paddle with holes drilled in it to the assembly. I guess they were really looking forward to beating their kids and actually planning on it.
What a sick cult. I was very glad to leave as a young teenager, and have never regretted my decision. When I look back, all I remember is misery and unhappiness. Life is too short to waste on the diarrhea diatribe of the watchtower.
what films and tv shows couldn't you watch when you were a witness kid?.
i remmember being banded from watching scooby doo, ghostbusters ,e.t., (some british ones)count duckula, rent a ghost, well basicly anything with ghosts in it.. my parents wouldn't watch any films with much swearing in them, especially the f-word.. which is fair enought.but i don't notice swearing so sometimes i recommend a film without realising its got lots of naughty words.. sometimes a very sensitive brother from the hall would come round to visit, and he would be visably shocked if there was any sex or swearing in a tv programme which often made it embarassing when watching tv when he was round.. once when we had some friends round and we got waynes world out on video, a couple of the brothers walked out as they thought it too worldly.
"Bewitched," because at one JW's house, they tried to turn this demonic program off and a hand came out of the TV set and turned the show back on.
"Gilligan's Island," because the actor who played Gilligan (Bob Denver) was busted for pot.
"Soap," because homosexuality was portrayed.
"I Dream of Genie," because genies were considered "demonic."
It was much more important for children to study publications of the WTBTS that contained graphic depictions of human and animals being slaughtered by natural catastrophic forces put into motion by the loving god of the Watchtower.
