  i popped into the supermarket for a few things after work today and found myself walking up an aisle alongside a couple who used to be in my tuesday group.

  i see them reasonably often and always say hello much to their obvious annoyance.

  i noticed that ian was sporting a shaggy beard.

  Passwordprotected, please provide a reference to anything I have said in "defense" of their right to shun. All of us have a Constitutional right to choose our associations, and shun or not shun others as we see fit. I acknowledged that right, but nothing in my post "defended" it.

  While you apparently believe that provoking unnecessary conflict with JWs that leads to threats of violence is something that should be "celebrated," I happen to believe that this sort of conduct is counter-productive and does nothing good for anyone, while at the same time carrying legal risks. Since you've committed to the position that provoking unnecessary conflict with JWs is something that should be "celebrated," please explain to the forum what, if any, positive results can come from the approach you're advocating.

  While their behavior is certainly despicable, it is their right to shun you. In this situation, you already knew that they desired to avoid any social interaction with you, yet you disregarded their wishes and imposed the interaction they sought to avoid upon them. What did you accomplish? Your words, although they are likely true, caused offense. Ian will never respect anything you say, and, notwithstanding his religious views/affiliations, he may indeed respond to future provocations with physical violence. Legal action could follow; either criminal charges or civil lawsuits. Is it worth it? Good luck to you.

  my mom was sexually assaulted by the man cruella and jaundice are marching through their yard so dad allowed someone to post a fredrick mclean (fbi sign) and the aawa signs(pedophile warning!

  ) on his mailbox and yard, now this elder that tried to force my mother in to silence when she testified about the pedophile elder say's dad and mom are slandering him!..

  the cobe elder told the police that my dad is trying to slander his name by putting these signs in our yard, dad did not put those signs in his yard, he did not take them down because this elder keeps bringing a sexual predator out in our yard.

  even though i'm no longer mentally a jw (i still technically am) i do recognize that there are some benefits to being raised one.

  for example, the first (and only so far) wordly guy i was involved with had to smoke weed every day and got drunk all the time and that was his idea of fun.

  i couldn't help but feel bad for him.

  What da hell is wrong with partying? As long as you can keep your life in balance, there's nothing to be ashamed of, notwithstanding the expressions of condemnation communicated by those who lack experience. I was raised a JW as well. If you think there is an "up side" to being raised a JW, you're delusional.

  i was out today at the grocery store, picking up a few things for the weekend, when just beyond the pineapples, i spotted a jw lady i was once friends with.. i wasn't interested in engaging in conversation, so i just continued picking out fruit, when out of the corner of my eye, i see her look at me and recognize me.

  she looked like she was panicking, and then darted behind a pillar in the store, trying to hide from me!.

  my dd was with me and noticed what happened.

  I think she's innocent until proven guilty. Assuming she is guilty, the crime she's charged with is insignificant when contrasted with the Enron scandal and other recent corporate scandals. But Martha makes a good scapegoat and distraction from Enron and other scandals that are too close to Dubya for comfort.

  the other day i was watching "charlie's angel's" (the weekly series from the '70's) on tvland.

  it dawned on me how much i used to wish they had aired that show any night but thursdays.

  maybe twice a year, if i was too sick to go to the meeting i would get my hour to watch my favorite star...farrah!

  i am sitting here looking out the tenth floor window of my watchtower paid for room at the manchester holiday inn.

  the events of the day before are difficult to comprehend as i reflect on what happened.
