For those that are not familiar with her she is the 'Emanuel' that designed probably the most famous wedding dress in history for the late Princess Diana. She is a wonderful sweet lady and I do all her events and fashion shows. I met British actor Edward Fox that evening (Gandhi (1982, Shaka Zulu (1986), The Importance of Being Earnest (2002), and my favorite The Day of the Jackal (1973). An absolutely charming gentleman.
The show was in association with Thresher & Glenny, founded in 1755, is one of the world's oldest surviving tailors, shirt makers and outfitters. The company has held Royal Warrant as shirt makers to the Bristish Royal Household, and the company has original Royal Warrants dating back to George III in 1783.

Terry is right. We let God slide....
by DATA-DOG inthere were many great comments on the " theist/suffering" thread, but terry's really caught my eye.
its the simplest way to describe what believers do.
we simply give the "god" of the bible a free pass.

Hello there Sam! Glad you are feeling better and are back home from the hospital..
Why go back to meetings if you don't even believe in it and don't want to get reinstated? If the elders too know that what is then the point of putting yourself through al the shunning that will most definitely follow? Are you ready for that? -

Focus your anger on those responsible for formulating the policies, not those once taken in by them who have now changed their minds.
There may be a point that most are missing here. True the majority here have changed their minds and beliefs and no longer adhere to WT practices.. this does not mean they are not responsible and completely innocent ('I was just following orders' or 'I was duped') for what they spent years and often decades teaching and promoting in the past. All the shunning they too willingly did.. all the committees they (elders) were part of.. all the poor children and whole families they raised in the Borg with iron resolve. All the people they preached to and also duped and deceived with what they now claim they themselves were duped and deceived with.
As those responsible for formulating the policies are no longer alive It could be that Focus is taking issue with those here (right or wrong) that were the foot soldiers for and took a great part in this 'work'.

by disposable hero of hypocrisy inwe are up for a new kind of persecution in the future.
a new form that was unheard of for us.
in australia, disfellowshipped and dissasociated are planning on suing jw for emotional and mental hardship for being cast out completely.

The only persecution, grief, pain, sadness, disappointment, gossip, slander, betrayal and suffering I ever experienced in my relatively short time as a witness came all from inside the kingdom hall and at the hand of other witnesses.

The people i least get along with are EX- J.Ws
by new hope and happiness ini am not talking about posters here on this board ( otherwise i wouldn't be here would i) but in general.. si i am talking those ex j.ws in my community and we just dont get on.
well ok its a bit of an exaggeration to say i don't get on with them, we just dont associate.
this botherd me at first as i thought we would have much in common, but it wasn't so, and it's just the way it is.

This seems quite normal and even common to me. I know of whole and entire families whose only connecting bond was that they all had the same parents and were raised in the same families. In time when those parents passed away.. the family members exploded, fragmented, and all went their separate ways deciding that none of them in fact even liked each other or really ever got along or had anything in common. As with blood families, all your associations in the org are not really chosen by you but rather given to you as a result of being in that religion.
Of the people that were my closest friends/associates/peers etc in the org when I was younger I'd say over 40 of them are no longer in 'the truth', either they were disfellowshipped, turned apostate, turned mad or whatever. Am I still friends or even in contact with any of them? Not a single one. Would I like to be? To be honest.. not really. -

Yes they apparently clean all records after a certain period of time. I was away for 26 years. When I went back not only was there no record of me ever having been disfellowshipped there was also no record of me being baptised. All the new cong had to go on was my own word.
My complete existence had been purged from all records and many of the people that new me were dead and gone or with evaporated memories.
