My awakening came in 2 phases with a very long interval between. I have in the past fallen pray to components of 1, 5, 6 and 7. Since the final unhooking of myself from that man made religious straight jacket, these disabling, paralysing and imprisoning behaviours very quickly disintegrated from my life.

Jehovah's Witnesses STAY IN because of the many things they refuse to know.
by Terry injw thinking is an act of evasion.
the unstated premise that problems with the truth will go away if only you refuse to identify them.
thinking is an active process.. evasion is avoiding that action of active thinking which would create a positive difference.

The New York-based Satanic Temple religious group has officially unveiled the design of the statue of Satan it wants to place near the Ten Commandments monument at the Oklahoma state capitol building.
As the sketch of the proposed seven-foot monument shows, the temple hopes to depict Satan as the goat-headed, Baphoment figure, complete with a long beard, horns, wings, and Pentagram design placed overhead. On both sides of Satan are smiling children.
“The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond. The statue will serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures. The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation,” temple spokesman Lucien Greaves said in a statement.
Ever since the Ten Commandments monument was authorized in 2012, numerous groups have stated their desire to place statues of their own, including a Hindu leader from Nevada, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and the satirical Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
The Satanic Temple believes that it’s not right for Oklahoma to place a monument to the Ten Commandments without offering other groups the same opportunity. State lawmakers, on the other hand, weren’t receptive to the temple’s new proposal.
"I think you've got to remember where you are. This is Oklahoma, the middle of the heartland," Rep. Don Armes (R-Faxon) told the Associated Press. "I think we need to be tolerant of people who think different than us, but this is Oklahoma, and that's not going to fly here."
“This is a faith-based nation and a faith-based state,” Rep. Earl Sears (R-Bartlesville) said back in December. “I think it is very offensive they would contemplate or even have this kind of conversation.”
Since the surge of requests by other religious and advocacy groups, the Oklahoma Capitol Preservation Commission instated a moratorium on new requests until a pending lawsuit is resolved. The American Civil Liberties Union is suing in an attempt to remove the Ten Commandments display altogether. Until then, applications – such as the one by the Satanic Temple – can still be submitted but a final decision won’t be rendered until later.
The temple has stated it’s already raised about half of the $20,000 necessary to construct the monument, which it argues would be constitutionally protected.
“Our monument celebrates an unwavering respect for the Constitutional values of religious freedom and free expression,” Greaves said, according to Raw Story. “Satanism is a fundamental component at the genesis of American liberty. Medieval witch-hunts taught us to adopt presumption of innocence, secular law, and a more substantive burden of proof.
“Acknowledging wrongful persecutions has helped shape the legal system that preserves the sovereignty of our skeptics, heretics, and the misunderstood,” Greaves continued. “This is to be a historical marker commemorating the scapegoats, the marginalized, the demonized minority, and the unjustly outcast.”

Head of the House?
by cofty ini often see comments by ex-jws that would suggest some men still view themselves as "head of the house".
sometimes comments from women appear to support the idea as well.. how many still see things this way or have you completely got over it?.

The only elders I have ever seen that were not totally dominated, controlled, micro-managed and p*ssy whipped by their own wives were the single elders. And they were just afraid of women full stop.
All the elder sisters were great leagues ahead in terms of life experience, knowledge and maturity. If I ever needed to talk about anything I would not dream of talking to an 'elder'. I would always confide in the much older sisters who were overflowing in wisdom and compassion.
It was in fact the older sisters themselves that warned me never to go to the elders about anything as they were like little immature children and not real men at all. They were often described as being useless by these very same sisters.

I never really understood all this antitype stuff. How come every single thing and person and event in the Bible has to have an antitype for some future and greater fullfillment?
Why does God allow them to get away with it on such s grand scale? Why does he allow so many to be deceived?

Yes that's total bull sh*t.
That was the big shock I got when entering the Org for a second time. I left as a young fellow and came back a decades later as a grown man. It honestly felt like I was in a congregation of 12 year olds. The level of maturity, lack of intelligence and experience and petty spiteful childishness was quite shocking.
I could only stomach less then a year of trying to form friendships in this narrow religious kindergarten that I just quit and have never been back since.

I found this place about the same time that I quit meetings 10 months ago. I have not personally needed that much support as I have always been very independent and detached from the Org while in it so the stepping away for me was was very easy indeed.
I can't say that I have made any very close friends here but it's been very helpful to read peoples stories and experiences and read about the scandals, cover ups, developments and changes in the 'Society'.
The only downside I can imagine of getting too involved here is that it keeps one stuck in one's often painful and disappointing memories of the past and it keeps one's connection to the organisation pretty much alive somehow. In ten months I see an awful lot of repeat threads, it does not take very long to do the full circle of possible discussions, debates and subjects. (nothing new under the sun?)
They say talking about a thing is what keeps it alive and present in one's life. I'm not sure how healthy it is after having walked away from what most of us have concluded is a false religion to then spend the next 10 years and several thousand posts examining it in every conceivable aspect and detail and hurt and pain that we experienced. I know that for me personally reading too much about this subject keeps me very much back there.
Have we not wasted more than enough time on that in our lives as it is? I tend to read far more than I ever post which is probably what we all do. I guess one takes from here what one needs, and shares as much as one feels is necessary and beneficial to one's feeling or 'getting better'. Initially I was here almost non-stop taking it all in quite feverishly. But as time passes from my departure from the Org I find I need less and less.
I'm very grateful for the forums existence and for all of you here that have shared your knowledge, feelings and experiences. It's makes one realise that none of us are alone.
