This was exactly my situation. I showed the elders an absolute ship load of utterly insane and ridiculous quotes published by the watchtower leaders that prove without any doubt that they could never have been chosen by Jesus for anything based upon what they were teaching and their views back then. The entire house of cards implodes from the center and simply collapses.
The elders could not refute a single word of what I showed them because they were English speaking and all of the material was all in English and came embarrasingly right from their own Kingdom Hall library. They were speechless and completely mute. They did not have a leg to stand on.
I walked out and have never been to a meeting since. All I ever got was a single email requesting that I don't share my findings with anyone else in the congregation. I still have that email.
That was a year and a half ago. They have left me completely alone. You can never be disfellowshipped for studying their own literature.

.org = oganisation.
Beware of "organization." It is wholly unnecessary. The Bible rules will be the only rules you will need. Do not seek to bind others' consciences, and do not permit others to bind yours. Believe and obey so far as you can understand God's Word today. (Watchtower Sept. 15, 1895, p. 216)

Delete Personal Messages

why can we not do that on this site?
what are your motives in keeping our personal messages?

lol Simon...I appreciate people like Snowden very much. Although I knew about these things decades ago.
If we had a simple 'block' button if anyone receieved a single unpleasant, offensive or threatening PM one could simply block the individual immediately and so removing all possiblilty for any more offense to occur. It would also remove your workload in dealing with complaints and problems maybe?

Losing Faith in Faith..
by Dis-Member ini came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.
it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.
he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.

First, I would like to make it clear that YOU asked me personally to come back to this website and post my comments. YOU are the one that came to me about Jesus. If you do not like my comments, then so be it. Stop asking me for help if you don't want to listen to what I have to say or examine all viewpoints.
That I'm afraid is a blatant lie.
If I recall correctly I said to read my comments in this thread as it may help you understand what I was thinking. Nothing more.
In fact here are my exact words to you:------------------------------
"Here are my feelings on faith. Please have a read on this thread I started and my comments through it. It shows where I am at and what I think and feel on all of this.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/281946/1/Losing-Faith-in-Faith
------------------------------
Nowhere did I ask you to comment on my post. You just invented that part all by yourself. Who really is the liar here?
And why did you even want my opinion anyway? You have older topics that suggest you already chose atheism.
Topics? No it's just one topic. And I have not chosen atheism at all like it's something to be chosen. It seems to me like a place people just arrive at.My questions and statements are often rhetorical which anyone reading what I say can clearly see. I don't usually make statememts, I tend to ask questions. I like to examine all viewpoints, know others thoughts and opinions and experiences as that is how we all learn no? Or have you forgotten this?:
Proverbs 27:17 New International Version (NIV) 17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
For someone who likes to quote the Bible at people you seem to have forgotten large parts of it.
First you call me an atheist... and a few moments later a semi-atheist.. and now 'nothing more than a liar.' Wow..
All I am is a sincere person who has genuine and valid doubts and is looking for answers. I thought that you might have some. It seems all you have is ignorance, prejudice, blindness, ego, insults and your sweeping misguided judgements of everyone you communicate with. You seem to think you are ordained by some higher power and that if you simply throw irrelevent random scriptures at people that they will somehow just follow you so you can feel all good and warm about yourself.
You seem to be just a witness whose gone off the rails..
"The Watchtower is right about it being near the end."
They have been saying that for 130 years now..
At one point I did see you speaking about your apparent relationship with Jesus and I was curious for you to explain to me how that worked and if it was genuine. It's become apparent that you are just as lost and confused as anyone else and fumbing in the dark.
I apologise for thinking different. I meant you no harm. -

If you believe that when you "don't see" a PM (or email) you have deleted that it means it's actually deleted and gone for good then you maybe naive about how computer systems typically operate. Most systems use what is called 'soft delete' which means they are filtered out but still very much there and they have to be to manage a site properly.
I am very well aware that rarely anything is truely deleted Simon from forums (and it's not how computer systems operate as if they had a mind of their own.. it's more how computer systems operators operate and it does not make it right) I certainly understand you as the Admin of this forum keeping a backup of everything, I understand your point too regarding people behaving badly with abusing the messaging system. But does that not seem also like a little NSA & Big Brother-ish? Because a minority have misbehaved now every single person that ever sends any message any time for ever will have it saved and recorded for ever. Seems like a case of everyone losing freedoms and rights to their own info because of a few bad apples.
That certainly is not correct. -
Short film explores the infinite options and consequences in our lives..
by Dis-Member inthis short film from paul trillo takes a look at the infinite options that fill our daily lives and how the consequences of our actions can transform the multiple paths that we can take, combining over a lifetime to define us as people.
some choices we think we can affect, others seem too small to contemplate.. a look at the infinite possibilities within the everyday.
following a day in the life of vincent, "subject x" and his many variations that exist throughout the universe.

So.. our lives can change complete direction at any moment we choose.. we just need to step outside and make it happen.

If the bible is "a letter from God", why is it that only the GB can interpret it?
by stuckinarut2 inwe know that witnesses often use the illustration "the bible is like a letter from god.
a letter from a loving father to all his children etc".
so in this letter he says "he desires none to be destroyed, but all to survive etc".

They can't. Have they not been getting it wrong for 130 years already? Things are not about to change. A false prophet does not suddenly become a true one over night. They usually get taken outside the city gates and are stoned.

I wonder if it's actually a love of music. It goes a bit deeper than that. It may just be a love of true freedom. And music was the thing that gave her that freedom.
My friends used to think and say I was obsessed about my motorbike.. and also my guitar... and then my camera. They were wrong. I actually did not care about any of these things.. what I cared about was the sense of freedom to be and express myself each one gave me.
.. but I can never love any of these things more than I loved my mother. I have lost many cameras, a few bikes, and a whole bunch of guitars. No problem, all replacable.
But when I lost my mother, I nearly died. For me there is no comparison. (but then my mother was never a witness, maybe that fact is not insignificant)

should there be a rule against posting PMs ?
by MissFit inmost people feel that it is unethical to post private messages.. how ever there does not seem to be a posting rule against it.. some people unfamiliar with posting on boards may not realize that it is not done to post private messages .
( even though it would seem self evident with the word private in it.).
so what do you think about making it an official posting rule?.

What would be nice is to have the option to block people either from them PM'ing you or if you just don't want to see their posts or have any interaction what so ever. Like you can do on Facebook.

Watchtower Tells Us "Employers Seek JWs Only" Yet Most JW Employers Avoid Hiring JWs, Why?
by BucketShopBill inhere's a thought: we're told over and over how employers sing the praises of their jw employees, sometimes with a vague quote about how 'if we could only hire jws, we would as they are so honest'.
however, while some jw employers themselves may hire jw employees (usually cheap entry level positions), most don't.
in fact, many jw's in general who have businesses have a rule not to do work with jws, even those in their congregation.

I have worked a lot with witnesses. When I was 18 I was heavily exploited by a witness building firm.. doing seriously hard manual labour that started at 4am and finished often after dark around 6pm for 6 days a week. For this slave labour I was paid a measly £35 a week. Then I would turn up at meetings covered in building dust and dirt and be looked down on for falling asleep during the ministry school and for not wearing a shirt and tie.
They can be very precious about their work. They have the idea that everything they do and say and touch and think is Holy.. so even if they are scrubbing your floors they think that their labour is sanctified.. and they expect you to think the same.
Yes some people like to employ witnesses but usually only for very low, unskilled entry level menial work.
