@unstop: the end result doesn't matter?
So you think the death penalty is fine even if they cause no death?
Not trying to put words in your mouth, but it certainly sounds as if that's what you just said.
(And I've seen the videos)

@piztjw
Misquote people to make a point much?
My reaction to their thoughts was not a reaction to the initial story.
Why on earth is that so hard for your mind to grasp?
@unstopableravens: are you saying that anyone who does this should be put to death? Or only those who cause a death? Do those who do it but fail to cause a fatality get life behind bars? Or do you just lock them up for regular old assualt?
Just curious.
Perhaps the same way YOU are judging their proper reactions?
Are you dim? I'll repeat myself again just in case...
I have still not reacted to the story. My post was about their reactions to the story. My reaction to the story can not be judged as I have not reacted... you understand yet? Judge/gauge.
How are you judging my reaction?
I reacted/posted about the two quotes - not the story itself.
I guess you can tell that my reaction is less severe than calling for the "death penalty"... Less severe than calling those involved "evil". (I know that wasn't you btw, just the second post I quoted)
I pointed out some overreactions - I never actually reacted myself.
the bible says in genesis that god made human beings in his "image".. this means that christians believe human beings were made with certain attributes that they share with god.
attributes such as intelligence, creativity, an appreciation of beauty, and sharing a similar set of cardinal moral and spiritual values around love, justice, mercy, etc.. this linked article explains it from a christian perspective more fully.http://www.relevantmagazine.com/god/deeper-walk/features/23549-qmade-in-the-image-of-godq.
and yet....we find in the old testament that god performs or endorses the most morally repugnant acts, such as ethnic cleansing, killing infants and children, causing famines and plagues, drowning the entire human population except eight persons, etc, etc - all actions that any reasonable and objectively sane person naturally finds morally incomprehensible, disgusting, evil.. this article here outlines some of the actions described in the ot that any normal, sane person would naturally find morally abhorrent:http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/raymond_bradley/moral.html.
If you listen from about 44.00 to 48.00 you will hear that some christians find this problem far from insurmountable
this is a very strange thing for me to do.
i have been an active witness for over 25 years.
i currently serve as an elder and i conduct the watchtower study.
"There is an overwhelming sense of sadness when something you have believed in for so long may not be correct."
I remember that feeling... S&R put's the feeling brilliantly here I think -
Congratulations on finding out TTATT, and welcome to the best place on the interweb to talk about it.
"im sorry but they deserve the worst punishment life in prison or death penality."
"this is what I psychopathic, evil."
there is a trend in modern evangelical, charismatic and "non-religious spirituality" that gets dangerously close to erotic love of jesus.. it's something that i first observed during my christian years especially in the lyrics of christian songs and sometimes during open-prayer times.
if you haven't experienced open prayer you are the lucky ones.
everybody adopts the shampoo position - elbows on knees, head in hands - and whoever is "moved by the spirit" speaks up for a while, followed by an awkward silence, followed by two people speaking up at the same time, followed by silence, and so on.. anyway back to the topic, here are a few random examples .... "lord i give you my heart.
i think the remaining ones left are kool-aid drinkers and virtually brain dead..
I always loved hearing dubs say "Ooh, I'm knackered" as a kid. My nan was a stickler for her dictionary and had told me not to say that as it meant "sexually exhausted".
No idea what a knacker is though... but I bet he has fun!
