DEMONS! Experiences With Demons While IN "The Truth?

hello all.. i am compiling information about jw's and former jw's who seemed to either have an extra sensativity toward demons, or who had outright experiences with them.

these experiences may include ambiguous contact as well, ie, "i'm not sure what the hell it was, but it was weird.".

what did you do during the experience to resist or make the demon(s) go away?.

I also used to meditate and got into a deep meditation one day and started chanting this chant about "the circle be unbroken" which I have since learnt is known in the world of wicca..

I wouldn't be concerned about that. Actually, the common Wiccan phrase is "The circle is open, but unbroken"...in fact, the exact quote "the circle be unbroken" is from the traditional hymn (made famous by the Carter family) "Will the circle be unbroken"...

Bye and bye Lord bye and bye
There's a better home a waiting
In the sky Lord in the sky

I wouldn't worry about any demon influence...perhaps subconscious music lyrics??? Circles and such are as much a part of Christian symbolism as Wiccan or other Pagan faiths. Matter of fact, the pentacle (star in a circle) used to be thought of as a symbol of the 5 wounds of Christ...I've seen pics of medieval Cathedrals with pentacle windows. This doesn't mean there were insidious symbols in medieval Catholicism, it just means that symbols can be used by multiple different faiths.

what is everybodys feelings out there about armagedon is it all garbage or is god's judgement day coming one day.i know the witnesses always use this as their pitch to keep you in,but is all that doom that is in revelation for our future or what?

Well, I think 'armageddon' has about as much validity as any other prophesy from ancient religious texts...which is to say, not much.

I have, however, actually been to Armorgeddon (which is how I always think of that word now...). It's an SCA event.

Well, first let me say I don't believe in "the supernatural"...I think it is possible that there are phenomena that we haven't correctly identified yet, but if these exist I think they are natural, not supernatural. And I don't think there are demons in the JW sense, but that there are some unpleasant things in this world, humand or not.

This happened before I was a JW.

We lived in a house where the previous tennants included a guy that terrorized his wife and kids. (we knew about this but I never gave it much thought till much later) Now, whatever your explanation...bad spirits, 'echoes' of past events, whatever...sometimes I would be alone in the house and would suddenly become terrified. I felt as if someone was in what had been the kids' room, and was coming down the hallway into the living room. I was even scared to look in that direction because of what I might see. Sometimes I would run past that door without looking in. Let me tell you, this makes an adult woman feel really silly.

Now, mind you, I perfectly enjoyed spending time in my house by myself. In general, I like being by myself most of the time, ever since I was a kid. But sometimes, this fear would come over me when I was in the middle of something else. Well, after a couple of years of feeling foolish about it, telling myself it was just my mind playing tricks, whatever, one night I just got mad.

Really, Really P*ssed Off that something (maybe even my subconscious) was making me scared in my own house. Somewhere I had lived for, at that time, a few years. Now, y'all don't know me, but let me tell you when I get a good head of steam up, people who know me tend to stay out of my way. And I was P*ssed. Mad enough not to care how silly this might seem to someone else, or even to myself later. Plus we didn't have any close neighbors, so nobody was going to hear me...So, at the top of my (very loud voice) I yelled:

"MY HOUSE! MINE! This house and everything in it is MINE and I want you OUT! And STAY OUT! Do you hear me? GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE AND DON"T COME BACK!"

Whatever it was never bothered me again. And we lived there for 10 years...

Just another anecdote.

Has she asked you about it? I certainly wouldn't lie, but I wouldn't bring it up, either. I'm sure you have many more things in your life to talk about than being an xJW...tell her you're in med school (I assume from your name that you are). That should be a big clue...

If you bring up that you "left the truth (tm)" right away without it being a normal part of the conversation, she might suspect that you had motives for emailing her that you didn't have...like trying to 'poison her against the truth' or something.

Besides, maybe she's no longer a JW! (wouldn't that be cool)

Princess did it!!!

i just had a phone call from princess, who is in phoenix az for the rock and roll marathon.

it was her first full marathon, and she finished, which was her goal.

she came in at about 4:30 hours.. she had a bit of knee problem, but finished it.

The Biggest Scandal In Your Congregation

i attended a notorious congregation as a child, the infamous winter gardens congregation!

my cousin and his best friend, both named joe, were elders, my cousin was the po and the other joe was a total loser suck up who wanted to be just like my cousin, joe.

what was even funnier, as i get off point a bit, is that "suck up" joe's wife, cathy, did everything she could do to get her pudgy lil self to dress, look, walk, and talk like my cousin joe's wife, clementine.

Child abuse by an elder for 5 years. Society says to hush. Wife of this elder has an affair with the father of the abused. New committee reinstates elder after 6 months. One of the new committee elders has an affair with the wife of the abuser. Abusing elder trades his wife for the wife of the new commitees elders wife. Elder ends up in jail for child abuse. Wife of the abusing elder has the hots for yet another brother and lets him move in. Uncle of the abused child admits to molestation also, but doesn't want to go to jail. Puts gun to his mouth and pulls the trigger. Still following me? Elder in jail wants to marry the wife of the new committees elder who has a few kids of her own. YIKES

Good GAWD...I can't follow that! Can you do a diagram???

Women in Workforce/Glass ceilings/my mentor

my finace recently started work at a wage which will take me years to reach even though our qualifications will be about the same.

many women have claimed that the glass ceiling exists and that women are paid less for the same jobs that men do.. what reasons explain this in your mind?

is it because women might have children?

Part of it, I think, is that women accept lower salaries...because they don't know how much the men are making! I think women have lower expectations than men, because our salaries are so often much lower.

I used to work at a college of medicine. I saw men with no degree hired for administrative type jobs, at a higher salary than women doing the same job title with a degree and 10 years' experience!

At another job, when my department got half its workforce laid off, the superviser kept the man he'd hired only a few months before...because he was a man and had to support his family...even though the 2 women in the office were the major financial support of their families and he knew it (my husband was in college full time and the other woman's husband was self-employed and trying to get his business off the ground).

Yeah, yeah, yeah...this is supposed to be illegal but it was a "right to work" state, and besides, companies know that they can do whatever they want to as long as no one has the time or money to take them to court.

I'm 40 and the only time I've made as much as the men I worked with, was when I was a truck driver and the wages were "so many cents per mile" based on your years as a driver. I've talked about it with other women in different types of jobs, and sometimes the "male-dominated" jobs are actually the ones with the most wage equity!

i'm so nervous!.

i just started grad school this year, and had a teaching assistantship this last fall.

it paid a few thousand dollars for 20 hours work per week, but the important thing was that it came with a waiver of out-of-state tuition and part of in-state tuition.

Onacruse - Enjoying the ride is more important than when you get your degree!

They've asked me to come in for an interview on Monday. I'll know next week. It's an interdisciplinary group and a couple of members are pushing for an RA from their own discipline. (hope, hope, hope)
