if you think my comments were so terrible, geez, I'm sorry. I said nothing against this Oroburus. My comment pertained to assuming things and how it can lead to harm or unnecessary distress. Would you feel it is acceptable to post as a subject, "Jayson is YoYoMama? Now, let's see who's exploiting my comments.
I never said your comments are terrible. I said you were being shallow and exploiting this thread. This is why;
What bothers me is the mob mentality that can exist here when a person is "different". I think it's a shame that a person HAS to provide personal information about himself so as to be believed. What is it? Everyone is a troll until proven not guilty
You are totally entitled to your opinion. You make your fluffy mental masterbation comment/threads and heck maybe they hook people. (Couse they do tune into your threads) But some things are serious. Maybe you have not gone through what Essie is going through with her kid. If you did you would not be so shallow about why so many people like me get very pissy about Ed and his ilk making BS self centered comments. And if someone accused me of trolling and I was, I would change my thread to correct it or, stand by my guns I could deal with someone accusing me of being someone else cause Minimus as um, I am who I am. And I know that would come out in the end. The mob mentality exists in the WT. What exists here are like minds and there is a difference. If a "different" view means that I have to sit here and watch someone walk all over another person unjustly then the powers that be will have to boot me off of JWD. I watched to much of that "indifference" with the JW's. I won't do it here or anywhere ever again. And I'm glad others won't either. If you consider that "mob mentality" then I guess we have a lot of disagreeing to do
Signed with love to Minimus,

Spanner as I said
When I talk here at JWD or read a book that is in relation to Jehovah Witnesses she feels like I am cheating on her. She feels like I am talking with her X.
The cult is the X. And no it's not off-hand. She wishes that the cult never existed. She wished she never baptized herself and promised her soul to the WT. Which I understand. But, it does not just effect her. Every time they write or call, even any contact brings it all back. And it does effect me as well as the children. JW's don't cause pain in a vacume. I study them because someday the kids will want to know about their family. And I want to be ready. More ready than I was in years past. Everytme they try to contact us they have less effect. And the reason is that we are educating ourselves about their tactics and their motives. The JW's band together to manipulate us. We need to band together to be there for and to protect one another.
Francois how I wish I would have recorded the conversations. The final one where the law was laid down imparticular. You would have enjoyed it.
Thanks BuleS. It's hard. If I had to choose despite my love for all you guys I would not continue to post here of read about the cult/s if it hurts her. I love her very much. But, I don't think that they will just go away. I have learned to be ever vigil where they are concerned. And it is quite refreshing to be able to talk to other people and remind myself that people all over are going through this and that I am not alone.

I'm really sorry everyone
You admitted that you were wrong and said you are sorry. Ed stood his ground and I think has pretty tough skin. (And Ice for blood) so what is the biggy? He still said hurtful cold hearted things to Essie. That was not cool That he is not someone else who used to post crap does not make me think more of him. That Farkel respects him means less.
You are still cool in my book girl. And I am sure that I will get caught with my head up my rear and put my foot in my mouth with some of what I say around here. None here are perfect.
The only person that I see exploiting this situation and thread is Minimus. Very shallow of you old man.

My spouce is the one with the JW past not me. I just married into this strange voyage and quest for god that her family is on. She is dfted and glad to be rid of the burden. Her family kept interfearing in our lives and that intensified with children. I spent years trying honestly to understand the JW point of view, from their customs, and their rules. (It's the sociologist in me.) But they lied, covered up the truth, and worked as a team to manipulate me. They betrayed my trust. In the begining my wife aided them. I don't think she knew any better. Then about a year and a half ago I started reading the books that tell what the Jehovah Witnesses really are all about, their history and how there is zero consistancy in what they believe accept that they are right and the world is wrong. (That everything they have believed in the past they discard including all former leader/prophets in the last 100 years is a minor inconvienice.) I shared this with my wife and she was shocked to realize that is really is all a sham; and when I said to my in laws that the religion is not only unwelcome in my house but around me, my wife, and my children as well as this shunning baloney it ends now, I was told I am violating their 1st Amendment rights. That they are free to do whatever they want. I am not the boss of them.
My house is not a democracy and they have no "rights" in my house. They are guests, as I am in their house. Anyway I have been learning about cults, mindcontrol, religion (the philosophy of relgion that is) and focusing in on the JW's. My wife says that she feels that she divorced the Jehovah Witnesses and her family still in it. And, When I talk here at JWD or read a book that is in relation to Jehovah Witnesses she feels like I am cheating on her. She feels like I am talking with her X.
She would like it if I just never came back here and burned all my books on the JW's relgions and cults in general. (It would be a big fire)
I don't have a problem with leaving her out of all of this. I don't blame her a bit, she has been through hell. She has the common sense to just avoid a storm where as I stupidly sail right into it. So therefore often I take her lead. But isn't cheating a bit drastic of a parady?

Is There Anything That a JW Wouldn't Do If They Were Told To???
by minimus inblind obedience is what witnesses are known for.
is there anything that even they wouldn't do, if so instructed??
?

Jayson
Blind obedience is what Witnesses are known for. Is there anything that even THEY wouldn't do, if so instructed???
Minimus if a Witness was ordered to change their opinion of faith and refused they would be disfellowshipped and therefore not be a Witness. If they were told to do something or to abstain from something and did not then they would be disfellowshipped and no longer be a Witness. If they are not propagating the faith anymore and just hide out to avoid the consequences of not following orders then they are just AWOL.
If they do not do as they are told then they are removed to keep the organization sanatized aren't they? So why the question? Everyone has a point where their conscience will not let them do what is wrong. It is their humanity. But when a person gets to that point then and listens to their conscience instead of men then they are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. They are free.

DF'D PEOPLE
by obiwan indoes anyone know if it's possible to find out who have been df'd and who has been reinstated?
i'm curious because i heard an old friend was df'd, but this information was third party.
i don't want to call up and say "hey long time no see" and get hung up on because of bad info...anyone know?

Jayson
Disfellowshipping is a procedure which is laid down in the Bible . . . A young woman who was disfellowshipped and later reinstated said: "I am happy that Jehovah loves his people enough to see that his organization is kept clean. What may seem harsh to outsiders is both necessary and really a loving thing to do. I am grateful that our heavenly Father is a loving and forgiving God."
Strait from their website. I took your advice razor and did a little search around their site. The above is what I kept bumping into.
Yep, families, friendships, and marriages completetly divided because they are cruel and hurtful people. It is that simple. It [shunning] seems harsh to outsiders because it is harsh, cruel, mean, and totally unbiblical in any way. A loving group would never shun love or, shun as love. That is an oxymoron. They shun 100% out of a desire to contol. There is no other reason.
Even a sociopath can give reasons to support their actions. But they are still sociopaths and they are still wrong. Jehovah Witnesses are wrong. And no doubt in another 30 years the JW's then will not be like the JW's today Just like those today are not like those 30 years ago ect....(that is if the movement is even still alive.) It is so sad that they refuse to learn about the truth & the history of themselves. I wish they were not so afraid of the truth.
Obi I hope you can find your friend. Call them and find out. Send a letter or even flowers (It can say Happy Birthday!) and ask them out to dinner. All you can do is try. Good luck!

Blondie,
Classic.
Here is mine for the day.
Three friends die in a car accident and go to an orientation in Heaven.
They are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are mourning you, what would you like to hear them say about you?"
The first guy says, "I would like to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time, and a great family man."
The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher which made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow."
The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them say, "Look, he's moving." -
