If a church does not want to perform a marriage ceremony for a homosexual couple, there are plenty of churches that will gladly do so. So, why doesn't the couple in question merely go to one of the churches that will?

There is a small segment of the homosexual community that is decidedly militant in their politics. Their purpose in targeting specific churches is to bring them down and put them out of business. By yelling DISCRIMINATION and asking them to do something that they know very well is against their beliefs, they want to drive them out of business.

I don't know about militant gay politics being involved in this or not In my opinion the more churches that go out of business the better, but while still in business I will support their right to not be bullied against their sincere beliefs. If a Pastor didn't want to marry me and my BF, I would simply move onto finding one that would. There is nothing good accomplished by bullying someone into doing something that their conscience does not permit them to do. You get more respect from people when you don't try to force your beliefs or opinion on them. You also get more respect for sticking to your beliefs.

So is the Hitching Post a church or a for profit business? Is this a case of 2 pastors also owning a business?

I called the story up once, but the second time I tried it was just too slow. I took it that the Hitching Post was more like a public wedding chapel that people could use to get married, but then the story kind of sounded like a law to enforce jail & fines on any Christian Pastors that declined to marry same sex couples. A public wedding chapel business should not discriminate based on race, religion or sexuality. Forcing private religious denomination clergy to do it against their conscience is a different matter.

Yes you were. You were making a cheap and underhanded attempt to label me homohobic, because I didn't automatically get rabid because some Christian Pastors may object to marrying same sex couples. Then you tried to equate it with racism. Why would a gay couple want to force a Pastor to marry them? I would simply tell the Pastor to kiss our gay asses, and find someone who would marry us.

MASH.....now you are sounding unstable. I am NOT a Christian. Nothing in context I have said in this thread can be taken as anti-gay. The context of my posts simply clearly support the freedom of any private denomination Pastor from being forced by the government under threat of jailing for politely declining to marry same sex couples. You have the right to think it, but why do you think gay rights should trump religious rights? What if a gay Pastor's conscience caused him to politely decline marrying a heterosexual couple? There is so many places something like this can go to when you refuse to respect others people's conscience & beliefs.

I don't know you, but you will NEVER in any of my posts find anything bashing gay people. To come out and take everything I said out of context and throw the homophobe & racist label on me is just wrong.
