Went to a Methodist Church Christmas carnival today. Everyone was invited and welcome. There was no Watchtower mandated JW's in good standing only rule. Everyone was having fun. There was no JW mandated no-fun, no-being-a-kid, act like stuck up holier-than-thou uberdub conduct rules. People wore whatever clothing they chose to wear. There was no JW mandated suit or dress policy. There was Christmas decorations, music, and a festive atmosphere. There was no JW mandated everything is pagan policy.

This Church put on a first class event. There was free breakfast, drinks & snacks. There was numerous activites for kids, including pictures with Santa, Mrs.Santa & Elves. The best thing is that this is Texas and they set up an outdoor snow slide for the kids. The Church easily spent $10,000 on this event.

I came away very impressed by the people there, and that the Church didn't care if people were members or not. How different the way they showed love was to that of Jehovah's Witnesses. I thought several times how 19 years ago I would have been condemning this church and these people for this. Shame on the Watchtower for teaching us to hate & condemn good people and innocent fun like this.

JW caregiver married grandfather with dementia

i am so angry and i need to vent.

a jw who was hired to be a caregiver for my grandfather in the early stages of dementia went and married him over the objection of family, the gal and the va social worker.

this happened several years ago.

I can see this happening. This person probably followed the Watchtower's counsel, and now finds herself with no husband or retirement. Now, she sees putting in a few years with an older husband in order to have a roof over her head and some income & posessions in her old age. I can see a family getting upset about this, but I can also see JW's marrying this way.

It even happens at the other end of the spectrem when a mature JW man marries a young sister 20-30 years younger than him. More than likely it's for the security they may provide. Not saying it's right or wrong.....it just happens.

The official requirement for salvation in the latest WT, nothing to do with Jesus......

" 3/2015 study wt learn from illustration of talents par 13.. so there you have it, to get salvation you need to only obey the gb and if you obey and worship the gb, then you will be judged as a sheep.

As much as the Watchtower rails against other Christian religions......other Christian churches are not propagating such nonsense as following a few F&DS members who are "Christ's brothers" in order to gain eternal life. At least the normal Christian churches keep it simple and advocate accepting Jesus as your Lord & Savior, and things such as faith & grace in order to gain eternal life. None of this convoluted Watchtower complicated belief system.

What's with this "no windows in kingdom halls" thing?

i hear many people on this forum say that kh's don't have windows.

but i have never been to one that didn't have windows.

is this only in a certain area or something?.

I think the no window look came with the advent of the 3 day quick build KH's. It made contruction quicker and cheaper. Other advantageous reasons for no windows....like prevent vandalism, distractions, energy savings, etc. were probably reasoned on. I've been out since 95', but sounds like the 3 day quick buld is no longer the norm and JW's probably got tired of the plain & creepy no window look.

LOL.....those guys are really arrogant and hung up on themselves. They use to include all the anointed in this F&DS bullshit. Now, the little JW Governing Body are the most important men to put faith in? Good grief this religion is sick.

So what's the problem here? The detention guards did the best they could with an unruly boy. They simply held him down, so he could change clothes as instructed. The guards never did anything to hurt him. Just because they are guards doesn't mean they have to try to talk everyone into everything, or be at the mercy of anyone's whim to spit on them, bite them, punch, kick or scratch them.

I can testify that JW's most certainly DO torture. When I was about 15 years old I had to sit through a 7 Day International Assembly!!! If I had the choice of that or waterboarding.....!

The CIA should use Watchtower tactics against captured ISIS members to extract information. Stage a fake 7 day Watchtower International Convention and give these guys a front row seat in the sun having to take notes. Use the mind numbing boring type/anti-type convention talks about how the Witnesses were chosen by Jehovah in 1919. Get a Fred Franz impersonator to close with prayer and before the amen the ISIS fanatic will tell you everything he knows, so not to have to go through another torturous day like this. If he doesn't talk make him go door-to-door with the JW's afterward the convention, then go out and eat a pork dinner with the friends while wearing his suit and name badge. LOL

This is not someone who was protesting anyone elses treatment. He was the self-centered monster in all of this. He just didn't like the government telling his that his actions weren't allowed.

Amazing that he was an Immigrant, and despite all these past crimes and legal issues....not only was he not deported, but he evidently was allowed to roam freely and to carry out this deadly attack.

my husband just won the city wide holiday light display for christmas i am so proud .

just a few short years ago i was the one that put a strand of white lights around the porch railing ,and a couple of lighted deer in the yard ....that brought the elders around real quick (after three years of silence ) at that time my husband was still holding onto the notion his faith was not bond to a cult .

it didn't take long after the 'loving sheparding call' for him to see things in another light.

It looks fantastic! Great job! Very nice to get the city recognition that you did. This is all innocent fun celebrating life and making memories while you are alive. It's very sad to see the evil pagan no-fun spin the Watchtower puts on life. Normal peopel really enjoy seeing the lights during this time of year.

Guess the answer to this question was.....if you claim your backpack is full of explosives and it really is not you are a mentally ill Muslim. If you do happen to have a backpack full of explosives and go the full suicide bomber route you are a sane Muslim terrorist.

No matter the country.....the liberal ones really cannot help but to spin a horrible terrorist incident into a defense of the Islam religion.
