Wow.....now CNN is reporting that instead of the plane going down in the South China Sea/Gulf of Thailand, they are reporting that it made a U-turn and was last reportedly over the Strait of Malacca, which is on the OTHER side of Malayasia.

Is the Russian action in the Crimea prophetic gold for the GB?
by konceptual99 inso chatter on the net and in coffee shops suggests lots of speculation about the re-emergence of russia as the king of the north.
does this political situation give the gb a golden opportunity to simply let speculation about prophecy fly and keep people distracted from the fact that nothing they have prophecied has actually come true?.

Yes......just like we were taught to do when we were in, current JW's will use Russia in the Crimea and any other world event that they can to perpetuate the delusion that the Watchtower Governing Body is God's Channel. Those fools have no credibility at all in my book. They abandoned Russia as the King of the North when world events were not lining up with their Soviet Union King of the North prophet beliefs. They made other speculations about other nations (China, North Korea, maybe a Muslim brotherhood of nations), and now for them to flip-flop back to Russia would be right in-line with their track record.

My conversation with my mother in law.
by StephaneLaliberte inmy wife and i recently took the decision to fade out progressively and we are now in the stage where we no longer assist to our meetings.
in this process, we have told the truth to our respective parents but have not forced ourselves upon them; meaning that: we will talk about it when you want to.
as a result, my mother in-law already had some conversations with my wife on why we no longer went, but never brought up the subject with me, at least, up until yesterday.. she was telling us that a good deal of people miss us at the meeting and i answered that i missed them also.

Also there was comment about what is the difference between JWs and Apostates, and the reasoning or comment was that JWs preach the truth whereas Apostates dont do this and target JWs and dont preach.
Before 1995, when I was a true blue JW elder.......based on my intruction from the Watchtower Society and it's Governing Body who were part of the Faithful & Discreet Slave remnant of the 144,000 anointed heavenly class, I preached "this generation" of 1914 would not pass away until Armaggedon came.
So now, the Watchtower reasons that the persons who changes their preaching to only the JW Governing Body is the F&DS, and that Jesus "evidently meant an over-lapping generation" is preaching the truth? What is wrong with this picture? Who really are the apostates?

recently i noticed a trend, mainly found between teenagers and older techie brothers, of referring to themselves as jws.

Interesting questions. If it's just refer to themselves as JW's between each other, then it's probably just slang. It front of outsiders it could be because of embarrassment. On this forum it's because JW is quicker to type. There was a time when they would have been called down by hardcore ones for saying JW instead of Jehovah's Witness.
Welcome to the board. You will also see Jehovah's Witnesses referred to here as "dubs".

The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses are all about control of the lives & the information their members are exposed too.
As others have pointed out, if important announcement information were given out at the first weekend of DC's, then soon all the JW community would know of it well in advance of their respective DC's. In that respect the GB would have no control of the announcement or any twists, rumors, etc. of the new announcement.
The annual GB meeting will be the platform for any special announcements, or new light. With this the GB has full control of a captive audience.
The DC's will be business as usual. Same boring crap, guilt trips, the end is really close now, listen obey & be blessed, new literature releases, drama, do more to serve us, doesn't the new light really make sense, and oh yeah.....we need more money.

How exactly is the Holy Spirit 'directing' the WT?
by keyser soze init seems pretty impotent to me if it is.. let's assume, for the sake of argument, that they are merely 'spirit-directed', as opposed to 'inspired'.
and let's assume that there is even a difference(other than semantics) to begin with.
neither claim is validated by the end result.

The Governing Body use to like "Leggs" pantyhose.
Then the band ZZ Top came out with the song "Legs" in 1982.
ZZ Top members have beards.
The Governing Body thinks beards are evil.

sarahsmile - I am an ex jw. It was a troll/prediction of a future teaching the GB will do to explain all their false teachings and nonstop changes. It was an illustration of how they spin and twist their things around. They try to make being false prophets look like evidence of holy spirit and advancement.
