I've not run across any WT literature anywhere, but I definately would trash it if I did. When I was an uber-dub I did use to trash the porn magazines that were left laying in the bathroom at work. LOL

Is the WTS effectively 'pimping out' sisters?
by Simon ini can't remember the topic with the discussion about the talk where they suggested that sisters should only consider ministerial servants as potential marriage partners but think about the implications more.. are they trying to use the potential affections of sisters to enourage brothers to do more and work harder?.
isn't this a form of 'pimping out' the sisters by limiting their attention to the people contributing to them?.
it seems to cross a line to me but i guess it's not vastly different to "only marry another jw".. what do you think?.

I thought I read something to that affect also. Didn't have the time to search out the context, but someone posted something that did sound like a GB member said something about a sister should only consider marrying a brother who was at least a Ministerial Servant. Say it enough and it eventually becomes a Watchtower unoffical rule. Something like that could certainly be used to prompt JW men to reach out and take an elder or MS appointment if it would result in obtaining a more attractive or whatever marriage mate.

Is the Society trying to self sabotage?
by truthseeker ini'm not going to list all the changes here that have happened in 2014, most of you who frequent the boards know about them.. in reference to anthony morris' talk, i can't help feel that the organization is behaving so abnormally out of character for itself that it is bewildering even to ex jws.. cultish behavior is perfectly normal for cults, but whats happened this year is so far out of whack it beggars belief.. what do they think they are doing?
are they psyching jws up for some major announcement?.
i can't help but feel that something really strange is going on, this does not feel like the regular "special announcements" followed by articles in the watchtower.. .

They have smart guys on the legal staff and smart guys on the finance staff. This is a carefully crafted game. They are dealing with the lawsuits by the realestate moves and possibly liability insurance payouts.
.
The Watchtower religion is all a legal game. The doctrines & beliefs are all about adherance to Mosaic/Christian legalism. The procedures & protocol are all about adherance to corporate/judicial legalism.
My main contention about all these sudden changes is that how in the hell could the JW religion talk so much in the past about how close the end was, that only they had the truth, and how the good news of the kingdom needed to be preached worldwide.....then, all of a sudden change so many beliefs & procedures that a person now can't even recognize the religion from a decade ago.
It makes no sense what so ever that any all intelligent God would decieve so many people for so long with one truth, then change the truth right before his great day of judgement. That would be ridiculous and very sick.
It is obvious to everyone but the willfully blind & brainwashed that the Watchtower religion/Jehovah Witness Organization is man-made and man-directed.

Muslim refuses to stand for the National Anthem
by designs incleveland cavaliers basketball player dion waiters stayed in the locker-room during the national anthem at a recent game.

another basketball player recently refused to stand for the anthem while on the court and was fined by the nba, dion chose to remain in the locker-room.. have you heard of followers of islam refusing to stand for the national anthem or to say the pledge of allegiance on religious grounds.. .

I went back and looked, and now evidently this NBA player is denying he missed the National Anthem due to Muslim religious beliefs. Sounds like another prima donna millionaire player making a show of themselves.

i.e. shoving rabid nationalism down someone's throat - is just dickish behavior, and will ultimately affect the bottom line in a negative manner.
.
How is playing the USA National Anthem before NBA games dickish behavior that shoves nationalism down someone's throat? The National Anthem is nothing but a song of national pride written by Francis Scott Key, and is a long tradion of USA professional sporting events. Usually all that is ask of a player is to stand or whatever, and to be respectful. Canada does the same thing. In fact both countries play each others National Anthem as a show of respect. Other country professional leagues do the same thing. The Olympics does it for all countries.
Ultimately it could affect the bottom line of the prima donna millionaire athletes who try to use the Anthem for protests purposes. Profession sport leagues have been accomodating to any players with sincere religious beliefs. The bottom line is that the teams are under no obligation to draft these players. If any player really has a problem with showing a few minutes respect for this country or Canada's national Anthem, then maybe they should go play in another Country's professional league that is waiting to pay them millions of dollars to play a game. Oh wait, other Countries will require they show respect for their National Anthem also, but probably won't play them as much.

I attended our town's Planning Commission meeting recently and it opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
I think some people think they have to do something like the Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem to make the proceeding more "official". LOL
I was dragged into the cult at a young age after I was use to saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the Nation Anthem. When I was on the school basketball team it was very nerve wreaking to stand with the team for the Nation Anthem, and then hem-haw around to make it look like you really were not comfortable doing it to the JW kids sitting in the stands.
I always stand for the National Anthem now, and would love an opportunity to say the Pledge of Allegiance free of Watchtower mind-control.

Got ratted out for celebrating Halloween...
by cognac inone of two things will happen.
i'll get disfellowshipped and never have to worry about being "told on" again for living a normal life, or; they won't do anything.. either way, it's freeing and i feel relieved... it will be sad if i get disfellowshipped but i've come to terms and made peace with it as much as can be expected.
it's a huge weight to have off.. was told on a week ago and haven't heard anything.

I have been reading your situation with interest. You will be just fine no matter what direction this takes your life. I think I've read that you can deal with your marriage ending if that happens. You seem to be in a great frame of mind. You are determined to have a happy normal life free of negative Watchtower influences for yourself and your kids. I think I even read where you have a great job and make good money. Good luck to you!

This is protected speech. No other nation is so flag worshipping as the United States. The pledge of allegiance is a recent practice.
Band.....thank you for you opinion of the U.S. pledge of allegiance, but this thread is about a prima donna athlete's ego being bruised and him using his Muslim faith as an excuse for sitting out the NATIONAL ANTHEM.

Exerps, Conversation/Debate with a close old friend still in the Borg. Comments please!
by dark angle inpart 1. .
she was suspecting me that i'm no longer interested in the borg, and she was trying to get a confession.
this is how our conversation went out.

The conversation was one of those typical JW cliche ones. Preprogrammed responses galore.
.
I agree with this.
A person who really doesn't believe the JW religion is "the truth" should really be careful not to give any indication that they are acknowledging and/or confirming to any JW that the Watchtower religion is "the truth". If any JW wants to play "the truth" card, you actually have the advantage to mention all the changes in the truth, therefore those truths were lies, therefore we have no reason to believe "new truths" are truths. Of course the JW preprogrammed response is "new light". You shut that down with "sorry, but that new light BS doesn't cut it!". Then again, those who are trying to keep from getting DF'd for family reasons may simply agree using anti-theocratic theocratic warfare statements.

I think this may be more about the ego of a prima donna athlete more than an actual religious conscience issue. Waiters staying in the locker room during the National Anthem coincided with his being taken out of the starting lineup. (he also missed the starting lineup introductions- a non-religious ceremony) The next game Waiters joined the team for the Anthem. Prior to his refusal to be present during the Anthem "for Muslim religious reasons" he evidently had no problem being present for he Anthem. Other Muslim players have no problem being present for the Anthem.
