So what is your story? How did you get in? How did you get out? Who did you leave behind?
We got some this in a previous thread, but I am always interested in hearing more about you all.

how many here are (a) ex-jw, (b) non-jw with jw relatives or spouses, (c) inactive jw, or (d) active jw who stay in for your own reasons?.
Thanks for your stories. I actually have a great deal of respect for both those who had the courage to leave and also those who stay behind to save friends and loved ones. Good luck.
to recap my story, i am married to a daed ex-jw.
this last year, i had to deal with a bunch of jw nonsense at a funeral for one of my in-laws.
even though i am a methodist, the whole thing really left me aghast and rattled my faith.
To recap my story, I am married to a DA’ed ex-JW. This last year, I had to deal with a bunch of JW nonsense at a funeral for one of my in-laws. Even though I am a Methodist, the whole thing really left me aghast and rattled my faith. As I debated scripture with a JW in-law during the aftermath, I found myself questioning the value of scripture if anybody could abuse it this badly.
As much as I have criticized the Methodist church, I have to give them credit. I saw my church do something that made me proud this Sunday.
A woman showed up for the first time. Turns out that she attended the church in her youth but left. Was in an abusive relationship. Finally left when her husband ended up in jail. Recently divorced with two kids. All this came out in Sunday school.
As we left church, I told my wife that the new comer was probably in a bad spot and could use some support. I’d approach her, but it would be a little inappropriate. By the time that we left, my DA’ed ex-JW wife had offered her help and exchanged contact information. I also saw several other people reach out to her.
Would that have happened at a Kingdom hall?
I do not want to brag or appear self-righteous. However after dealing with JW up close and personal this year, I really want to slap them and say "This is what real Christians do. We help people when they get knocked down. You all would throw your own family under the bus to save face at the Kingdom Hall."
at the moment i am still going to all the meetings (for family reasons).. we have at the moment 1 df person who regularly comes (already df for 1.5 years).. when i opened him the door i always greeted him but in the hall i didn't as others could see it.. now i decided that my conscience can not bear this any longer.
i will greet him also in the hall or when others are around.. if any elders notice it and talk to me, i tell them my conscience does not allow to not greet that person.. did any of you do that too and have some experiences?.
This issue is really at the heart of the problem. Isn't it?
If you belong to an organization that requires that you do something that violates your conscience, why are you still part of that organization? For some of you, the answer is that you do not want to be seperated from family. This becomes the dilemma. Are you willing to violate your own sense of right and wrong to not be alienated from your family?
I do not envy your choices. It is one hell of a choice to have to make. The JW is an evil, evil organization to put anybody in that position.
as predicted by jwn loose conduct has been replaced by brazen conduct.
galations 5:19 2 peter 2:2 .
a catch all phrase for apostates.
Wow. Did they really use brazen? In modern American context, the word does not have a strictly sexual connotation. At a minimum, this was sloppy

i like the comment that 'i didn't know it was jehovah's witness season.
i gotta get my license renewed".
His mistake was firing at them after they left the property. However if JW don't get off my property after the first warning, I am getting the gun.
adamah...You did make some snide remarks abou biology being completely different than mechanical engineeringing.
A zen view would be that everything is perfect in its imperfection.
Folks...read the thread about coffee with mouthy...and you will see love and grace in action.
Read the thread about no one telling a women that her sister died...and you will see evil in action.
You can debate the existence of God all day long, but in those two threads, you see the Gospel in action. Does that prove the existence of God? No, but it works.
Speaking as an engineer, a great deal of expensive high tech equipment was designed with empirical models only loosely based on physics, but they worked.
adamah...Are you saying that the first and second laws of thermo dynamics don't apply to biochemistry?
i never was a jw, and in many ways my interest was academic.
i have known, and know, some jws and ex-iws and know something of (but not personally) the effects that wtbts has on people.
the effects, imho, are not positive.
Why do I view atheism as a religion?
(1) We are debating the existence of something that is beyond our ability to perceive, or if you believe the mystics, at least on the very edge of our ability to perceive. Consequently, any statement about its existence or not is speculation, and any belief in that existence or not is a matter of faith.
(2) In my experience, most secular dogma is based on as many unchallenged tenents as any religion which professes belief in the supernatural.
(3) In modern Western society, atheist are more evangelical about their belief system than any Baptist or JW.
