A little healthy paranoia might have been good before 9-11! I believe that such discussions are quite healthy and normal. Better than sitting back in your bunker scared to talk of your fears......

Why Christians Avoided Gods Name (part2)
by metatron inso, as we've seen, jesus carefully avoided using 'jehovah'/yahweh - because the jews.
would have killed him immediately, as the septugint says (lev.24:15,16 lxx).. he avoided it consistently, refering to god as "father" down to his sacrificial death.
(luke 23:46) and even avoided it in ordering baptisms (matt.

In the OT the name Jehovah was well used. Indeed, when the NT came along it was all but ommited. The bible is full of contraversy and contradictions. From a biblical standpoint one must agree that Jesus did not seem concerned about using the name Jehovah- unless he did use it and it was just ommited by the writers???
Quite possible both the Jesus and Jehovah fanatics are wrong- Jesus himself summed it up with one word: "LOVE" It was only his early followers that suggested that Jesus was anything other than what he ever claimed. Jesus himself stated that his true followers would be known by the "love they had" NOT for what doctrine they believed. If the doctrine and use of the names Jesus and Jehovah are soo important and the use of the "bible" is soooo important what about all the millions of NON-christians around the world- hindus, buhdist and muslim? Do you follow the JW creed that they will perish due to thier ignorance in not knowing Jehovah or in you position Jesus?

Minister arrested in rape case

The Rev. La Monte McNeese, left, is led to the Montgomery County Jail by detective John Nichols.E-Mail This Article Printer-Friendly (text only) Subscribe to The Tennessean

A Clarksville minister was arrested yesterday and charged with the rapes of several young people, including two children, after an almost four-month police investigation.
Police booked the Rev. La Monte McNeese into the Montgomery County Jail on 19 counts of statutory rape, eight counts of sexual battery and two counts of child rape. He was released a short time later after posting $50,000 bail.
''Taxpayers' money is being used for people's personal agendas,'' McNeese said as police led him into the magistrate's office. He declined to comment further.
A telephone call to McNeese later yesterday was not returned.
McNeese was charged in a sealed indictment by a grand jury earlier this month.
In a sealed indictment, the charges are not made public until an arrest is made.
McNeese, 42, is founder and minister of One Way Apostolic Assembly, 703 Providence Blvd. He was arrested at his residence yesterday morning.
A police investigation launched April 27 into allegations of child abuse later prompted the state Department of Children's Services to take custody of 11 children who attended his church.
DCS spokesman Carla Aaron said parents of the children who have been taken into custody could be charged.
''It's always a possibility if you have parents that knowingly allowed their children to be in a position where they are subject to abuse and neglect,'' Aaron said. ''You have to look at what was told to the mother.''
McNeese's previous criminal record includes a 1991 guilty plea to patronizing a juvenile prostitute in Washington.
He was originally charged with second-degree rape for the incident involving a 16-year-old girl, Washington state authorities said in May.
Court records show that McNeese served one day behind bars, and that a judge suspended his jail sentence.

I grew up as a JW in a small town in north Alabama. It was a very small congregation and I had no JW's my age to associate with. That combined with the fact that I only had one sibling, a sister seven years my senior, left me sonewhat a loner- isolated. School was very difficult as the other kids thought I was stuck up or felt superior to them. Little did they know that I felt very uncomfortable as an isolated person. Not engaging in sports, parties and the like. The flag salute issue drew more unwanted attention and pressure. Under these circumstances I certainly felt very different and felt that I did not fit in or belong. To say the least it was a very confusing time and my childhood was not filled with the fondest of memories. To this day I feel that my social life suffers due to my JW childhood. "Bad association spoils useful habits".

I wrote and E-mailed the following in repsonse to the cruise:
As I read you announcement about the cruise I was impressed with your efforts to keep the rif-raf out.Wholesome, upbuilding association is good. As I have small children I have to ask the following questions. Please do not be disturbed but I must ask. Are children allowed to join? Giving the recently revealed information that there are pedaphiles in our organization is there any way to do background checks on those going? (Since the Society nor the elders will release such info) Could we send a special invite to Bill Bowen since of this date he is still in good standing and has the interest of our children at heart? Thanks for your time in repsonding to my questions. A concerned parent

President Bush and Corporate Responsibility
by invisible inof the recent speech given by president bush and corporate responsibility, from the americans in here, how do you see this policy unfolding in the usa?
do you think this is a wise move for your president to be taking, or can you see it opening wide, a flood gate, can of worms so to speak?
what is the general consensus, word on the street about this issue?
-
kelsey007
To say the least I think Bush is hypocritical. However, after having said that, it is too bad that there wasn't a watchdog group in place while Bush was tied up tightly to corporate America. I think Americans need to take more responsibility in "watchdog" organizations. As I remember it Bush ran on NOT making government bigger. Sure has been a lot of new government positions open up in the Bush admin.

I thought the post was talking about Tim's board-(beyond jws) They like their "do you swallow" threads. Sensative to disagreement but not to the plight of the ex-jw- or so it seems....
