Logansrun,
You need to amend your Q&A
Q-"Do JWs believe they are the only ones who will get saved?"
A-"No...."
Revised answer...
A-" <long, uncomfortable, foot shifting, not looking you in the eye pause> ... No."
.
p31 at the back has another go at the internet.
it also takes a swipe at other sources of info - other than them, of course!.

i just despise it.
colleges use it every time you turn around; there's a fee for something or other.
states use it like it was going to be outlawed tomorrow.
LOL @ Bathory who wrote...
"Ill make sure to urinate slightly on the toilet seat next time i dine in, so as to maximise the value i get for the 12 cent i pay the jewish money robbing mongrels."
So you're the one.
i'm a great problem solver.
give me enough time, and i can find the solution to anything you care to name.
i can always find the answer.
Nicely put RHW
The man. The world. The wholeness of each seems related. And do not all men everywhere make up the world?
yours truly has probably posted something similiar to this before, but yours truly also happens to be too lazy to wade through 9 pages of previous threads to go & look for it.. this is one of my more serious posts .
now, while i do definitely take interest in the writings and rantings of the conspiracy theorists out there, that is all they are, theories.
i have yet to see any of these theories being vindicated.
Syn,
Excellent post.
Just one question. Say a modern day Jesus walked among us today and had some hybrid message of all the religions of the world. Or some new one.
Then you saw him: walk on water, raise the dead(decomposing), etc. What would you think of his message? Divinely inspired? Or a Tony Robbins coal walk huckster?
Are we (me) so weak, so jaded, so often burned in the past that we need to see a superhuman feat in order to believe, and put aside our differences and treat others decently?
If God exists, he is merely a really powerful scientist.
good day frank.
yes, i have been following your post with sp.
my question to you is, are you a perfectionists?
Good day, Guest77
"Who do you think you are?" Is that the jist of your question to Francois?
My response would be who does he have to be to express an opinion? The Christ? Budda? Ted Kennedy? (apologies to Jesus and Budda)
Dan Marino (reference to those unfamilar: ex Miami Dolphins quarterback, Hall of Fame, yadda yadda) once was getting grilled by the press after yet another disappointing season. Marino snapped and implied that the only legit critiscism he would consider valid would be from someone who "played the game". Since Pop Warner.
So in other words if you have not lived Francois life, experienced what he has felt, seen through his eyes, your critique of his opinions/posts are invalid
Do you buy that?
Of course not. And you should not have to in order to critically discuss his threads. But to have him first explain his... worthiness to offer an opinion of the State of his Union, so to speak before it's worthy of your approval of verification is a bit... weak.
Agree to disagree.
so many here do not believe in god, now.
some are not sure he exists.
if you never had been a jehovah's witness, do you think that you might still believe in a creator, in god?
I believe that there is a "God". I believe he is indifferent.
I also believe Darwin had a point regarding who survives.
even i was shocked to hear that bill parcells comes out of retirement to coach the cowblows .i think there is even a rumor that troy aikman will come out of retirement to qb .
i don't know what do you think the cowboobs chances are next year?
i am hoping for the best myself .
Parcells will help.
But motivations for coming out of retirement?
Could be because he just got divoced. Wifey got 8 million plus couple houses, Bill's lawyers 2 million. 4 years for 16 million. He'll be plus 6 million and I dont think will be getting married again when he quits in 4 years.
Has Steadmen married Oprah yet?

BlueSapphire,
I empathize with "comp time" This concept is a total fabrication. When my Dad got into management after he worked his way up through the blue collar ranks his boss put him on comp time. We both know how often he took it. When I started 7th grade school started at 7:05 am. He was already gone and did not get home til after 6pm. Whereupon he promptly fell asleep on the couch.
BUT... this is reality.
Who really work 8 hours? Nobody. 10+ hrs/day are the norm. Again, I try not to fight reality.
That said indulge me as I provide 2 object lessons.
1) There is a large gentleman who plays professional basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers. His name is Shaq O'neal. An old, "rich" fart named Jerry Buss owns the Los Angeles Lakers. Mr Buss pays Shaq $20,000,000 a year to play basketball. Imagine that.
But guess what. Mr Buss is "exploiting" Shaq. Im certain either you dont care or feel bad for Shaq being exploited like that. But think about it. Why would Mr Buss pay Shaq 20 mil when he could just as easily put that 20 mil in T-bills, 30 yr bonds, corporate bonds of companies like Ford, or GE and earn 2-10%? RISK FREE. Or alot less riskier than taking a chance Shaq blows out his knee.
The only reason Mr Buss would do that is because he expects to earn more on Shaq's production than what he pays in Shaq's salary. Plus of course hefty tax considerations. Think about it: Shaquille O' Neal is nothing more than a $20,000,000 cog. Mr Buss is "stealing" from him at least 2 million a year (what he would make in bonds)
ALL employers "exploit" their employees. They have to. If they did not they'd be OUT of business. Have you ever run a business with employees? Lots of costs employees dont see: Workmen's comp, insurance, accountants, legal fees, retirement funding, lawsuits, state and federal regulations, OSHA, EEOC, bonds, licenses, capital goods. Your husbands boss probably makes less than you think and he's probably up to his eyeballs in debt trying to keep up with the Jones' by buying all those "expensive things"
2) Dont be so eager to regulate people's behavior. For example, in California Governor Davis plans to tack on $1.10 per pack of cigs to help bail him out of his budget mismanagement.
"Right on! Everyone knows cigs kill people. While your at it, increase the tax on booze, gambling and porn. Keep on cranking up those "sin" taxes," people might say
But you better hope your neighbors keep on sinning because if they dont, they'll be coming after your "sins" next. Hypothetically speaking they might say that 4 kids for a couple making 80k/year isnt "fair" to the kids. There quality of life will be lacking. Heaven forbid they go to a state University. They might even pull a China on you, limiting people to ONE kid. Do you really want such a paternalistic mind set determining what is and is not "good" for you? Then dont be so quick to take the spark plugs out of your husbands boss mercedes.
Besides, Chrysler makes Mercedes now. Not what they were in terms of quality even 5 years ago. He overpaid :)

Just one question:
How did the govt of the USA survive from 1776 to 1913?
There was no income tax this entire time. Interestingly the Federal Reserve was also created in 1913 since which time $1 has lost 95% of its store of value.
Tax is a misnomer. Tax=confiscation. The same way that "credit" means debt. Inflation is a hidden tax created by both Democrats and Republicans by their spending (of your income, not "taxes") on programs, many of which are unnecessary or inefficient. At least, the Republicans mention reduction of spending. This means some of the unjustified entitlement programs are going to get cut. Of course bureaucrats dont like that. Consider California's deficit is MORE than the entire budget of every state except New York.
Where the hell did all that money go? Where was the surplus suctioned off to? My streets are worse off, my cities infrastructure hasnt been upgraded, no new libraries or schools, more people in prison but fewer cops, food is higher, gas, Twin Towers is a scrap heap in New Jersey. That is what I pay "tax" for.
I am so very weary of hearing about "poor" and "rich" and how unfair things are.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/carnegie/timeline/timeline2.html
Just think, he did not pay ANY tax on that $500,000,000. Guess there was no "poor" people then.
Or maybe that he was not thought of as "poor" when he made $8.00/month
If you dont have what you think you should (or think you deserve) in life, it may not be because you dont work hard, but that you have not worked hard long enough. But dont tell me you work as hard as Mr Carnegie, or that times are tougher than when he made his money. The most socio-economic downtrodden person in Harlem is light years ahead of where Mr Carnegie started.
Even Mr. Locke. Grandfather came to this country from China. No family. Not knowing English. No employment. No education. And in less than 3 generations his grandson is Governor of Washington.
Will your grandson/granddaughter be Governor? Not unless you and them work your a$$ off.
In short whatever you want whether its a 50" plasma TV, or a can of Spam, the United States of America is your best chance to get it. Never in the whole history of man has the opportunity to change your life been so great as today. Legally. However, keep taxing business and people who take steps to improve their lives and pumping fiat $$$ into the system to fund these "justice for all" programs, and well, you'll still be complaining. Except it will be about how difficult it is to get into the drug trade in Juarez, Mexico and getting your "fair chance" at untaxed illegal drug profits.
i like him, but he makes me a little nervous.
Bush is better than Gore. And thus by extension better than Clinton, since Al Gore IS Bill Clinton without the entertainment factor.
But it is a moot point. The difference between Republican and Democrat is the difference between a cheeseburger and a plain hamburger.
The Senate is where the power lies. And where power _lies_. And, of course the special interests that control the Senators. While the faces (rarely) of Senators change theirs never do.
