in terms of faith i have decided to give the invisible characters a rest for the time being.

the last set i had weren't really adding any value, and right now i'm happy with more rational answers to life's mysteries.. in my opinion religion was an early attempt to answer these mysteries and so inevitably we are accelerating towards a post-religious world.

when technology allows us to extend our lives as long as we wish, the need for salvation via invisible magic diminishes.it seems to me that religion is deeply influenced by parental authority and cultural norms.

Foxnews today; "UFO crashed into Meteor to save earth in 1908".....Bullcrap!

russian scientist claims a ufo saved earth by smashing into a meteor which blew up in tunguska 1908 knocking down miles of trees in the explosion????

he claims to have found a "control panel" in a slab of rock, and meterial that "can only be found in space" duuuuur!

i think ufo's are just another fantasy religion that people rely on..

I know HAARP exists and what it does. But people make up shit about it... like it controls the weather, creates typhoons, earthquakes... can superheat the atmosphere... etc.

however, i had not seen this information which clear up the 1 kings 7:23 issue before so i am posting here.

also, the two constants, pi and e encoded in the first verse of the ot and nt respectively, see second article.. full details in the url at the start of each topic.. the value of pi.

In all fairness, I don't think anyone believes that the universe is only 6,000 years old!

Yeah, some certainly do. The ones that believe in literal 24 hour creative days. I hope they are just a vocal minority though.

And Chalam, I did not mean to sidetrack your numerology thread. Your Google search link returns many results. Some people are confused because light slows down when traveling through some medium. But there were a few interesting articles. The fact remains, however, that it has been verifiably tested over and over again that the speed of light is a constant (in a vacuum). Einstein's theory of general relativity has also been verified countless times, and it hinges on c being a constant.

So far nothing has confirmed the hypothesis that c may not be a constant. It's just wild speculation at this point.

Its something usually promoted by creationists because it somehow (i dont know how) indicated a young universe.

It's their incredibly stupid answer to "How can the universe be only 6000 years old when we can see things 14 billion light years away?" "Well the speed of light must have slowed down!"

Wow, someone went through way too much effort on this issue. Numerology and "bible code" stuff is beyond ridiculous.

Bullshit. The speed of light in a vacuum is absolutely a constant. The speed of light traveling through some other medium is of course dependent on the medium.
