Anecdotes are the lowest class of evidence, barely registering as such. Alone they certainly aren't sufficient to prove something extraordinary, like ouija boards actually working.

after reading the ouji board thread, i wondered if anyone had "dared" anything of this nature.. i was always too scared to even watch movies with any of this content.

i do read my horoscope.

my great aunt was into the occult and she was told she would die before she was 50 when she was in her 30's.

Priceless. The beauty of astrology is that it's completely vague and could apply to anyone.

I have a friend who believes in that stuff...thinks it's very accurate. I picked up a paper and asked her sign. I read it to her, but chose one from a different sign. She said "Oh yeah that totally fits me" or something to that effect. I told her I read the wrong one, and read another (wrong one) which she also thought was accurate.

I wonder if she got my point. Probably not. lol

I'll tell you what, all of you "skeptics", you say you had certain negative experiences while in the Org?

Actually I didn't really have negative experiences in the org. I left because I stopped believing the fairy tales. In any case, would it really be "extraordinary" for someone to say that they had a bad experience?

The amount of evidence we demand for something is directly related to how extraordinary the claim is. If you claim you had a burger for lunch, sure, we'll accept that at face value. But if you claim Lucky the Leprechaun slid down a magic rainbow and gave you a hamburger, then hey, we'll want more proof.

I've never seen Mozart, Bach, Napoleon, Genghis Khan and many others that "supposedly" existed in history.

Certain humans existing in the past isn't that big of a claim. The evidence for their existence is enough to satisfy most people that they were real. Now if someone said Zeus was a real god that existed in ancient Greece, wouldn't that require a bit more evidence?

You just want the result to be YOUR result.

First of all, we're all biased. I perceive you as having no critical thinking ability on this topic and just accept things at face value because you like the conclusion. You perceive me as someone that will accept no evidence to support this claim because I don't want it to be true.

Dude, I would love for there to be something to ANY paranormal claim. It would be fascinating to study supernatural phenomena that didn't disappear once you put it under the scrutiny of a controlled test.

Why don't some of you "skeptics" google "Ghosts" and read every first-hand account.
Then, go ahead and "explain" them, "scientifically", of course.

If something can't be explained scientifically, does that mean it's ok to assume it was a ghost? You don't think that's a big leap? Why don't we have objective, verifiable evidence for ghosts? (Hint: anecdotes don't count as objective evidence.)

Look up the "argument from ignorance" logical fallacy.
