Evolution of the Eye
by zound inafter doing some research on the evolution of the eye, i compiled this simple explanation of the key points.
anyone with greater knowledge please correct anything mistaken - and questions / comments welcome.
any writers that want to correct grammar/sentence structure issues would be great also.. .. .. .. an eye, simply put, is photoreceptors + structure.. the structure can be something as simple as a cup-shaped depression or pinhole lens, or as elaborate as our camera eye, an insects compound eye, or the mirror eyes of a scallop.

Discovery of 1.4 Million-Year-Old Fossil Human Hand Bone Closes Human Evolution Gap
Dec. 16, 2013 — Humans have a distinctive hand anatomy that allows them to make and use tools. Apes and other nonhuman primates do not have these distinctive anatomical features in their hands, and the point in time at which these features first appeared in human evolution is unknown. Now, a University of Missouri researcher and her international team of colleagues have found a new hand bone from a human ancestor who roamed the earth in East Africa approximately 1.42 million years ago. They suspect the bone belonged to the early human species, Homo erectus. The discovery of this bone is the earliest evidence of a modern human-like hand, indicating that this anatomical feature existed more than half a million years earlier than previously known.
"This bone is the third metacarpal in the hand, which connects to the middle finger. It was discovered at the 'Kaitio' site in West Turkana, Kenya," said Carol Ward, professor of pathology and anatomical sciences at MU. The discovery was made by a West Turkana Paleo Project team, led by Ward's colleague and co-author Fredrick Manthi of the National Museums of Kenya. "What makes this bone so distinct is that the presence of a styloid process, or projection of bone, at the end that connects to the wrist. Until now, this styloid process has been found only in us, Neandertals and other archaic humans."
The styloid process helps the hand bone lock into the wrist bones, allowing for greater amounts of pressure to be applied to the wrist and hand from a grasping thumb and fingers. Ward and her colleagues note that a lack of the styloid process created challenges for apes and earlier humans when they attempted to make and use tools. This lack of a styloid process may have increased the chances of having arthritis earlier, Ward said.
The bone was found near sites where the earliest Acheulian tools have appeared. Acheulian tools are ancient, shaped stone tools that include stone hand axes more than 1.6 million years old. Being able to make such precise tools indicates that these early humans were almost certainly using their hands for many other complex tasks as well, Ward said.
"The styloid process reflects an increased dexterity that allowed early human species to use powerful yet precise grips when manipulating objects. This was something that their predecessors couldn't do as well due to the lack of this styloid process and its associated anatomy," Ward said. "With this discovery, we are closing the gap on the evolutionary history of the human hand. This may not be the first appearance of the modern human hand, but we believe that it is close to the origin, given that we do not see this anatomy in any human fossils older than 1.8 million years. Our specialized, dexterous hands have been with us for most of the evolutionary history of our genus, Homo. They are -- and have been for almost 1.5 million years -- fundamental to our survival."
The study was published in theProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences this week. Members of Ward's team who helped discover and analyze the bone include: Matthew Tocheri, National Museum of Natural History in the Smithsonian Institution; J. Michael Plavcan, University of Arkansas; Francis Brown, University of Utah; and Fredrick Manthi, National Museums of Kenya.
this is all off science daily...enjoy!

Raised On the Third Day?
by TTATTelder ini have some potentially controversial questions.. i have always wondered about these things in the back of my mind, but i would immediately dismiss them.
now i am giving myself permission to explore them further.... a lot of attention is given to how big the sacrifice was on the part of jesus and god when jesus laid down his life.
as the story goes, jesus gave his life for our sins and then was miraculously raised back to life a couple of days later.. consider this.

Did you think Dinosaurs were destroyed in the Flood?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inin our jw bible, they placed a friendly dinosaur on the inside front cover on the old time map of the middle east.. you look at that, and see where the placement to where the garden of eden is and that was the image i got in my mind.
dinosaurs lived, but were too big to save in the flood, and besides they had outlived their purpose of fertilizing the earth.
i feel stupid for the thinking i had when i was 'in'.. is that how you 'thought' when you were 'in'?.

Wait wait wait this thread wouldnt be complete without this:
Dinosaur fossils are used as evidence to support the theory of evolution. However, when we look closer, we can see that the fossil record in fact supports the creationist perspective.
Dinosaurs and the Flood
Dinosaurs were buried rapidly. They are sometimes found in large numbers, and often have distinct stream orientation, which means that they were washed into position by a flood. Scientists say that floods often happened in the plains where the dinosaurs lived.
However, dinosaur fossil beds sometimes stretch over thousands of square kilometers. These beds are not made from small, seasonal floods.
Some dinosaur fossils were even found in marine deposits, suggesting that they were washed out to sea. Not too long ago, a Scelidosaurus fossil was found surrounded by algae and mollusks. This fossil even had skin tissue. i
Dinosaurs in the Fossil Record
The heaviest dinosaur on record is the 100-ton Argentinosaurus. The largest is a sauropod that could have been 50 meters long and 14 meters tall. These animals do not prove evolution, but rather disprove it. Animals with such diversity in size and form must have had a recognizable lineage, but this lineage cannot be found in the fossil record.
Large groups of dinosaur eggs have been found in Argentina, and scientists believe these clusters were dinosaur nurseries. However, these well-preserved eggs were buried rapidly in silt from a flood. ii
An article about paleontologist Luis Chiappe and the Argentinean cluster of dinosaur eggs says this:
Scientists found so many embryonic remains that it appears catastrophe struck the nesting ground, keeping many eggs from hatching…Floods may have penetrated the porous shells and drowned the embryos. iii
Dinosaurs and Birds
Some say that dinosaurs did not become extinct, but rather evolved into the birds we see today. The evolution of birds is traced to dinosaurs, but there are some major problems with these assumptions. The feathered dinosaur Compsognathus has been linked to birds, but only because it has feathers.
Birds lack the embryonic thumb that dinosaurs had, making it “almost impossible” for them to be related. iv As well, the differences between the dinosaur lung and the bird lung make it unlikely that birds could have evolved from dinosaurs. Scientist John Ruben and his team studied the feathered Sinosauropteryx, and said that its “bellowlike lungs could not have evolved into the high-performance lungs of modern birds.” v
Fossils are the crux of the theory of evolution. However, the very fossils so crucial to evolution contain evidence to prove that dinosaurs and birds are in fact not related. The fossil evidence also shows proof of a worldwide flood, which could destroy the very foundations of the evolutionary theory.
---ok have at it ;-)

The 1914 war in heaven was first announced in 1925
by Doug Mason inin its issue of march 1, 1925, the watch tower published the leading article entitled the birth of the nation which was the first announcement that there had been war in heaven after the gentile times ended in 1914 and that the devil and his angels had been cast down to our earth.
but this was further called attention to later in the article the king in action in the issue of september 15, 1925. this ousting of the devil and his angels from heaven had its effect upon the wild beast and its kingdom here on earth.
all this was forcefully presented in the book entitled deliverance, which was released on friday, may 28, 1926, at the international convention in london, england, after the conventioners adopted a resolution entitled a testimony to the rulers of the world.

Also time travel was invented around 1925....the time machine was actually based on Judge Ruth'ferds adventures in time. Hence why he drank so much. Alcohol decreased his conductivity so he would not be electrocuted when creating the wormholes he travelled through. His bitterness was because he knew some super humanoid apelike creature with et's face would rule over men...and a strange white haired super clairvoyant dude much resembling a character from bill and teds excellent adventure would somehow fit in there. So he had to act right away.
