i recently asked my jw mother, if she believed that jesus died for her sins.

she agreed, but then added the jw party line, "you have to exercise faith also.

Heathen--yes the bible says faith without works is dead...another term for works is "deeds". For instance, peter did not exercise his faith when he refused Christ 3 times. faithful deeds are things done to help others, or when you resist something that tempts you...See the WT utilizes works and service to God as a JOB...manual labor, slave-like works, etc. But service to God can be lived everydsy in all the choices you make, values that you hold--righteous things. We try to be people because were moved by Christ to do so...whole heartedly, not because a motherlike org says "do it or ill spank you" lol. Theyve become the judges, fhe executioners---taking Christ and the holy spirit out of the equation.

i work in the medical field and every 2 years i need 24 hours if continuing education to stay licensed.

my deadline is coming up and i am taking the classes this week and next week.

heres the thing, i scheduled them both on sundays and ive procrastinated over this two year renewal period.

She definitely cares what people in the hall think. Theres a sister who we used to be best friends with who claims my wife called her husband "skinny" and yet they still sort of shun us. My wife went out of her way to find out why she was pissed AND apologized. they claimed forgiveness and now still shun us lol...verrry loving

Heres the thing, i scheduled them both on sundays and ive procrastinated over this two year renewal period. So i told my wife about the second class and she says "but youll miss two meetings in a row!!!"

Me: "honey its ok i know i made a mistake in procrastinating but it has to be done, its close to home and will save us money"

Her: "thats bad! Youre going to miss two meetings in a row for a class?"

Me: "honey weve missed two conescutive meetings before so we could go on vacation or to see your family"

Her: or we were sick! But those are legitimate reasons!

ME: i think that going to these classes so i can keep my license and therefore continuing to be the head of household and taking care of my family is more important than missing a meeting for a family visit or vacation. I think Jehovah would forgive me for that rather than not provide wouldnt you?

her: well whatever im not going to make you feel any worse about it but dont let it happen anymore.

to me this just stresses the heavy loads the WT places on all who are involved with them. "Dont miss two meetings in a row or you may not survive armageddon. "

I think braincleaned said it well--works of faith. So if my faith moves me to tell others about the bible and how its helped me that is a work of faith. But once i say "do it this way because its the only way, and if you dont, youll die!"--thats when faith is gone and replaced by coersion. Hence then faith would not be faith, nor would any exercise yiu do. Thats like a JW saying the only way to Run is to do 20 pushups 3 times a day, and any other way is wrong and you will never run if you dont do it like this.

anyway if you look at rev 5:10 these look to be the same as the great-crowd, being from the nations etc.

and are dead.

WT gearing up to dump Russell and come clean on early history?

we've discussed this on lots of threads, but i've noticed a few things lately.

they seem to be talking about the early days on a very regular basis, almost constantly.

the change to fds happens and this involved a dive into early history and a few knocks on russell.

in january they are tightening control of meetings,as i said before, and will only do talks based from subjects of the insight book. I have an increasingly alarming feeling that i have a smaller window now to get my family out. if they start "humbling " themselves in the sense that Jws think of humility, your chances of making a stand and helping them wake up becomes Decreased. Tighten control but keep them distracted with your humble acts. Smart play IMO.

in order to come out of a great trib you wouldve had to be in it right?

Heres the kicker.....the society believes all those not anointed are part of the GC. Well what about those NON anointed ones who are now dead and never were in the Great Trib? To me thats a good hit to the GC vs 144K twught by the borg.
