Crisis was a very good book. My daughter found it on a used booksite on the web. I will ask her to post where she found it for $7.00.

Interesting show on Australian TV last night about religion

there was a show on sbs last night called "insight".
i didn't catch all of it, but it was about churches such as hillsong (www.hillsong.com) that, in their teachings, encourage their members to acquire wealth and financial success.

Very interesting HalfWay. There are many groups out there using the guise of charitable org.. We adopted from China with a group in Denver. The owners of this Adoption agency are Chinese. They moved from a hut to a mansion within a few years selling Chinese children. The US is getting plenty kickback as well. Great place the America.

SheilaM, what a horrible thought if that came to pass. That would be like addicting them to a drug and then saying "no more". Our family was the only one with the JW's in a family tree of 15 families. My X blames me and the JW's for ruining our family...not entirely true. I feel so sorry for the ones that innocently loved God and thought JW the best way to Him. That makes me sorry for me too.
May all our tomorrows be brighter.

This was such a nice thread to read that I feel better and hope Aztec does too. I came from a disfunctional family of 10 and raised one of my own. I was bombarded yesterday by the family blaming everything on being raised a JW. I worked so hard to be a loving mom and be lenient in every way including higher education. What a waste of my life.

I called a PHD today for council. She won't council a JW. The Doctor saw a 30yr. old woman JW who was having an affair with her 17yr. old son's same age friend. She said they got close out in service. The elders told her to marry the 17yr. old or get disfellowshiped. The doctor told her that council would be a compounded mistake and if she came for council Colorado law binds her to turn the woman in. Another JW family she counciled was so messed up Psyc. wise that everything she told them the elders undid making their visits futile. She will see me because I walked away from the JW 5yrs. ago. I ask you all out there this question. Do you think It is my responsibility to pay for counciling for my adult kids because I raised them JW? I was a loving mom that had overnights, parties,let them have "worldly" friends and took the heat because they played sports including Tae-quando. We went on wonderful vacations. I stayed with the JW because I reviewed so many other religions that didn't really teach the bible. Don't we all decide for ourselves what we want when grown? I've appologised and we all left years ago and even before that quit the school and weekly association. I am heartly sorry I ever was with the JW's but enough. .

What changes did you make in order to become a JW?

We had to stop doing holidays. I hated them anyway, phoney celebrations that they are. Birthdays were hard to quit because they were fun. Another change was all the service I had to put in. We got in trouble for our "R" movies like Terminator. The bigest change was that we had no life as we had known it before. Everything was serious. The GESTAPO was always watching. Even at JW parties there were ones from the force to spy and ridicule. They even told you how to have fun!

I didn't think there were any secret books. My daughter and I served lunch at a learning to be an elder class. I didn't see any odd books and didn't hear anything odd which means nothing.

What Did You Hate Most About Being A JW???
by minimus inhaving to knock on strangers doors, giving a talk in front of an audience, being questioned by the elders, having to go to 5 meetings???....etc.

I have to ditto Francios "EVERYTHING". To think of the tanks of gas I went through so the "friends" could hop into a warm car in sub-zero Illinois winters. I hated long meetings and giving those 5 min. talks. My son and daughter hated them also.
