No wonder so many people get fleeced by the unscurpulous if people believe stuff like this is real.

If a bunch of TV people can easily get such amasing 'evidence', then how come such amasing claims for ghostie activity have never been validated when investigated by genuine scientists?

Come on people, have a little self-respect. THINK. It's entertainment. It as scientific and rigourous as Brainiac. As truthful as an election promise.

Just because your like the idea of ghosties being real doesn't make it true. Eye witness evidence is NOT reliable, not even yours. If there was any truth in the claims how come all it ever is is eyewitness evidence and stuff that doesn't happen the minute it's credible scientists looking at it??

No pro-ghostie has ever proved a thing (other than their own credulity) not once ever, and none of the pro-ghosties crew here will do anything other than complain about the attitude of skeptics, whine about unfairness, or make excuses why scientists can't duplicate such results. The usual suspects are at it, once again. Wooo! Behind you!!! Pff!!

How come people have this massive double standard here? Dubbies are dumb for beleving in demonised smurfs but TV shows must be believed with the forocity of a resident of JonesTown's enthusiasm for KoolAid? You what?

If they are stupid in beleiving silly supersticious nonsense that has no evidence to support it, what are the people who ALSO believe other silly supersticious nonsense that has no evidence to support it? Be consistent.

In threads like that you could provide evidence what you say is true. Other people could apply trhe same techniques and have similar results.

Now, why not compare your ghostie beliefs (which you cannot provide evidence for and which yield different results for different people when identical techniques are used) with something they can be fairly compared to, like demonised smurfs?

Who here believes in Creation, yet believes in the Fossil records??

good morning and "happy sunday everyone!!.

yesterday our family (grandparents, grandkids, aunts, uncles) all went for a two hour drive for a picnic and all day fossil dig.

(sorry, i cannot tell you where, as it would probably reviel who i am to the trolls on this forum.

Fossils exist.

Why would someone want to advance a theory of an incompetent or unomnipowerful god making prototype animals?

Why can't they accept that maybe god is so clever that the animals develop independently but still acheieve gods aims?

I don't personally believe god had anything to do with creation, but both of the above ideas (incompetent god making prototypes or a really clever god making self-developing organisms) are as removed from the literal account as each other, yet the self developing one just seems more reasonable than an incompetent god some people would rather believe in than accept the fact of evolution.

Oh, Bryson's figures on the amouts of fossils seem a bit shakey. I could place an order for kilos of certain types of fossils, there are fossils beds where you can just go and carve them out of the grounds, and I guess he excludes coal, of which there is considerably more than a five-ton tuck load, and a lot of coal bears fossils

I've been studying with JW's for a few months..

i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.

i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .

but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

Yup, and some of them may eeven be sincere. Others are following directions; just as JW's oare taught how to talk on the doors, they are taught how to treat interested people. Experts refer to the treatment dished out to newcomers as 'love-bombing'.

What really urks me is they don't give any info on the translators and they say the credit goes to God.

Well, if they gave details of the translators the credentials and learning of the translators could be questioned. It is widely believed some of the translation commitee of the NWT had no expertise in Hebrew or Greek.

Trhere are things the JW's teach that I think make sense. No hell(Why would a loving god permit eternal torment? it's illogical and hateful).

And? Some of the teachings of Moonies, Scientologists and Mormons make sense. Doesn;t mean they have 'truth'. Doesn't mean your quality of life won't go down if you get involved with them.

Yes you do know, you know something isn't right. You just have a desire for everything to be that simple like they say it is, for everything to end up okay like they say it will, that your emotions are trying to overwhelm the gut reaction your intellect is giving you.

I'm just a lost person.. wanting to please the creator but afraid that one way is the wrong way, and i'm too stupid to find the right way. Blah. Why is this path so difficult? I came here a long time ago and after finding out this isn't quite the Watchtower society type of forum... I ran off because people had things to say about why I wanted to be a JW.. Perhaps I'm afraid of finding things out I don't want to know? This all started with me reading this stupid anti JW book by David Reed.. I didn't even mean to get my hands on it my buddy just happened to have it lying around..

Look, do not trust the JW's. They are like car salesman trying to sell you a car, and then when you say you want to know what other owners of that car thought about it, telling you not to speak to ex-owners of that car as all ex-owners are liars.

If someone trying to get you to invest in something told you not to talk to people who had invested in the past you'd KNOW they were a charlatan.

Third year running I've not been able to get tickets; 170,000 tickets sold out in 47 minutes this time.

what purpose does it serve?

it just seems to polarize people and ostracize those who aren't ready or willing to label it a cult.

anyone can look up the dictionary definition of a cult (or experts' definitions).

A cult is a belief system with certain identifying characteristics.

A poison is a chemical with certain identifying charateristics.

A vitamin is a chemical with certain identifying characteristics.

Labels are useful; if dog, cults or poisons don't like them, tough. They are still cults, dogs or poisons.

Ah, the usual suspects...

Those that believe in the occult are those with little idea what 'evidence' or 'proof' really is.

They also probably have a charmingly inaccurate idea about the reliability of perception, and thus think themselves or others experiencing it as proof it exists even if that is the ONLY proof they have.

They never seem to question why something that has supposedly been around so long and been experienced by so many people has as much proof to support it as there is of me having a twelve foot long todger, so criical thinkming skills seesm to be defcient too.

Of course, as they believe in something illogical that has no evidence to support it, logic and pointing out the lack of evidence has no effect on their beliefs as neither logic or evidence helped them form their beliefs.

They also really really hate people not belieiving in it, and get especially insulted if people analyse their beliefs in the occult from a dispassionate and methodical viewpoint.

But the funniest thing is, some laugh at JW's for the cultic paranormal urban myths JW's believe in... yet when you get down to it they also believe in ghosties ghoulies and demonz, yet are incapable of differentiaing why thei beliefs are no silly and those of Dubbies are.

I quite liked an ex-bosses answerphone message of 'you leave the message, I call you back'.

ok. so what is the story about people getting upset with others because their phone calls are not returned?

i know that sometimes i don't return calls, but i also know that sometimes people just call to chat, gossip, bitch, and overall waste my time and add to my stress level.

second, i beleive this complaint is self centered: you didn't return my phone call.

Ha... I am proud to be the only person in my company who has voice mail turned off on his cell phone and desk phone... and you know what? No one ever misses it. I have my mobile on close to 100% of the time, and if I can't pick it up, if it's business or someone I want to talk to, I call back.

I've actually got rid of a shitty DECT cordless at home which didn't allow voicemail to be turned off permenantly (it always switched tself back on) and replaced it with one that has no voice mail.

Voicemail and answer phones are just ways of making yourself a slave to others. If they can try once, they can try until they suck seed.

The new funkey keyboard layout they are trying to sell

anyone try the new funky keyboard layout that most keyboard manufacturers are selling now?

the one where the delete key is tall, the home and end keys are moved next to each other and and the arrow keys are moved to the left under the shift key.. .

i recently bought the logitech 510 (the one shown on the bottom) and i absolutely hate it.. years ago i learned how to touch-type, which means i type without actually looking at the keyboard.

I have Logitech desksets at home and at work, a better one at home, but the keyboard layouts are identical new-style ones with big delete keys. Main difference is the mouse in the home set is rechragble with etra buttons hereas the work one is ordinary battery powered.

The number/cap/F lock lights are in the receiver if it is a wireless jobby.

Layout is not too bad but I really don't use all the funky extra buttons and controls much I'm so used to a standard keyboard. I'm a really fast four-finger typist, a bit up from hunt and peck but not a touch typist, so small layout chnages don't other me as much.

Main issue is my work deskset is demonised; random key entry and mouse movements plauge me (must besome other bastard with the same keyboard but I can't find it), and the beginings of RSI in my right wrist; fels like the tendons are rubing together in a bad way.

But my pain perception is weird; I normally miss minor cuts and bruises until someone else points them out. It might actually be really pinful but not to me.

Keep meaning to get someone to look at it.
