"now this must have been quite the war, since we are taught that by october 1 or 2 1914, satan was waging war with michael and he was thrown to the vicinity of the earth.

that is why since 1914 we have such a short time left.....how do they get these crazy dates and how can people believe this if they really think about it?

A number of events that the WT.Society claims to have taken place in 1914 are actually shown by the Bible to have occurred at Christ's death,resurrection,and exaltation.

Is this not what they were going on about a few years ago when the had the 'new light' about the minor and major fulfilment of the prophecy? The minor being the events at Jesus' death and the major being in 1914. I have vague recollections of this.

Angels aren't allowed to materialize anymore because everytime they come down here, they get girls into trouble.

If I've been getting girls into trouble does that mean I'm an angel...

New House!!!

haven't been on the forum much in the last week or so, been busy moving house.

i told a few of you at emans barbie i'd just found a place, but it took until last week for me to get the keys.

its only little, but got loads of interesting features and i'm full of ideas for what i want to do with it.

Its the first place I've actually owned, the ones I had before I moved back in with my parents were all rented. I've been walking round with a big cheesy grin the last few days...

What musical groups or songs were bad according to JWs?

what songs or groups were you forbidden to listen to as a jw?

were any specifically mentioned from the platform or were you counseled not to listen to a certain song?

for me it was the entire def leopard hysteria album - bad heavy metal told it was demonic, i listened to it in secret, silk's "freak me" - a virgin listening to a song about hot sex?

We had a talk about this at the circut assembly, it must have been about '98 because one the bands the brother mentioned was Savage Garden. He said why would we want to listen to a band that promoted such 'savage' tendancies by having it in their name, and as such how bad must their music be. There was a stunned silence in the auditorium, because most people had heard the band and knew that there was nothing 'savage' about their music.

All the instructions from the platform ect are taken as law by jws, but things like this show that its just based on the whims of men who haven't even bothered to check out if what they're saying is right, and its f***ing peoples lives up.

Prayers in Restaurants....

on bank holiday monday just gone, a dear kind older couple in the cong decided to take me and my good lady out for a slap up meal, to try to cheer us up after the recent upheaval in our life.

somehow i ended up with the bill.. anyway, this was the local italian trattoria were we often go, and are on first names terms with the staff and quite a few of the other regulars.

big mistake!!.

I remember in 1986ish we went on holiday to Majorca, and noticed another family praying at the breakfast table, and reading the daily text. My dad went over to say hello, and it turned out there were about 100 wittnesses at the hotel!!! There was a brother from London who used to organise it twice a year and people from all over the country used to go. I think you used to have to prove how spiritual you were before he let you go with him. He made an arrangement to use one of the function rooms to do a Thursday meeting, and conducted the watchtower on the beach. He knew the island quite well so we all used the local buses to get around. Everywhere we went he got everyone to sit and sing kingdom melodies. I was only 9-10 at the time, but was so embarressed.

Certainly not. I am however very much against people who put a slant on other peoples actions, such as the wtbs calling all who are against them apostate and evil, or governments calling people who retaliate against them terrorists. When they call people this they bring to mind 911 or similar. The Iraqis blowing up the UN is a terrorist act, but the Allies doing similar things(ie, blowing up hospitals, schools, ect) is collateral damage. I don't see the distinction, they are all wrong. War is a very bad thing. I believe Sadam should have been removed from power, but in 1990.

You can have whatever “viewpoint” you want.

But if it doesn't agree with yours you'll label them a nazi.

It dpends on the use you put them to. I used to wait until about 30 min into the seesions, the phone loads of people to see who'd forgotten to turn the ringer off on their phone... only ever found one. So is the phones that are bad, or just people like me?

Service In The Temple

The great crowd worships with anointed Christians in the earthly courtyard of Jehovah’s great spiritual temple. (Revelation 7:14, 15; 11:2) There is no reason to conclude that they are in a separate Court of the Gentiles. When Jesus was on earth, there was a Court of the Gentiles in the temple. However, in the divinely inspired plans of Solomon’s and Ezekiel’s temples, there was no provision for a Court of the Gentiles. In Solomon’s temple, there was an outer courtyard where Israelites and proselytes, men and women, worshiped together. This is the prophetic pattern of the earthly courtyard of the spiritual temple, where John saw the great crowd rendering sacred service.

However, only priests and Levites could enter the inner courtyard, where the great altar was situated; only priests could enter the Holy; and only the high priest could enter the Most Holy. The inner courtyard and the Holy are understood to foreshadow the unique spiritual condition of anointed Christians on earth. And the Most Holy pictures heaven itself, where anointed Christians receive immortal life along with their heavenly High Priest.—Hebrews 10:19, 20.

Its not stupid and insulting to claim that there are people who want to carry out attacks on our soil. It is insulting for governments to embelish documents to convince people that this is happening so it can go and attack another country. This is the basis of the Hutton Inquiry that is ongoing in London, its investigating the death of a scientist amid allegations that the government had changed documents to frighten the country into going to war. If this doesn't fit the dictionary definition of terrerism I don't know what does.

I find it stupid and insulting that our government is treating us in this way. Its just another of the ways they put 'spin' on things.
