Could the allowance of blood fractions be curtailing the growth of the religion?
by Apognophos inso, imagine that you're just a regular joe who's not familiar with the witnesses and is looking for the answers to life, the universe, and everything.
you hear a knock at your door.
before long, you are studying with a jehovah's witness.

I always wondered why JWs were OK with eating meat, which contains blood. I asked an elder that question once and he said 'Well, we just try to cook the meat until it's well done'. That's when I really started questioning JW 'logic'.

Stupid comment Witness made about the Exodus film.
by Trapped in JW land ini was talking with two brothers at the kingdom hall the other day.
one of them suggested seeing the new exodus movie.
the other brother says, "i heard it's really violent"!

I guess the 'logic' for JWS it that violence in the Bible is OK, but violence from Hollywood is BAD.

Emblem Takers Mentally Unstable?
by Cold Steel inonthewayout wrote: of course, for quite awhile (and probably still), congregations have been viewing any relatively young (maybe under 50 or even 60) partakers as mentally unstable and watchtower ignores such people anyway and says they must listen to the elders.
is this correct?
ever since the emblem-takers were given emeritus status as members of the faithful and discreet slave, have they been relegated to standard membership?

In my San Diego congregation, the lone elderly partaker was rather senile. When he made comments the elders sometimes snickered. In my Washington state congregation, the lone partaker was an unusually boring and dim-witted fellow. Shortly before I stopped attending, he gave the Special Talk....it was the ultimate in boring. Plus at other times he said JWs should limit association with non- JW family and relatives. Plus he insinuated that members of the congregation needed to watch out for other members who were bad association or weak in the Truth. He was essentially solely responsible for me deciding I had had it with the JWs.

Jesus' Ransom
by ivanatahan ini never really understood this.
at least, after i started thinking about it recently.. if jesus died for our sins, wouldn't everyone be saved?
what's the point of saying that his death gave all humans the chance to die if, appearantly, only 8 million people out of 7 billion will live?.

OOPS!!! SORRY!!! The reason the whole 'ransom' idea is so hard to understand is because it's TOTAL NONSENSE!!! There is no need for adults to believe in fairy tales.

Leaving with Dignity - a sample document
by Ajax inwe live in democratic, not theocratic times.. churches no longer imprison, torture or execute.. cults have absolutely no authority over non members.
we don't have to obey.
we don't have to subject our selves.

I heard a story about a disgruntled Witness who took a can of spray paint and wrote 'Piss Off!!!' on the KH front door. Is that a DFing offense?

I attended a Methodist service once a few years ago. I was impressed by the friendliness and the warm atmosphere. The next day a couple of older women from the church brought a loaf of homemade banana-nut bread to my house, and thanked me for coming to their church.

Kingdom chorus
by looter inso im at the meeting after its over and this elder says to me that god needs my voice because he, the elder, feels that my singing is not loud enough.
i did not tell him this, but singing just is not my thing.
he then went on saying how gods people are better singers than "the worlds singers".

Yet another attempt by an elder to micromanage a person's life. Ignore that fool and continue singing the way you prefer. Better yet, tell him to piss off and walk out for good.

From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

Definitely a 10. I was in the middle of having a 'Bible' study when I found this site. I started asking questions that the study conductor couldn't or wouldn't answer. The next week he didn't show up at our regular time. Later he came by unannounced with the CO and I just said I was no longer interested. Never heard from them again.
