  Coalize, I see it that Europe went through right, liberal-oriented economic policy with limited unions, privatization, and wider deregulation of markets. On the other hands, its political system is very left-oriented, anti-conservative, with goal destroying nation-states and socially re-engineering the Continent through multiculturalism. The outcome of these two policies in this decade lead to widespread social, economic, and political decline of Europe in every aspect of life. Unemployment for younger people created a generation that will not be able to acquire proper work-related ethics and will push them into lasting poverty.

  The traditional view of the Left as known through Marx-Leninism is thing of the past. The left does not talk about nationalization, classless society, and revolution of the proletariat. However, it does not mean, that the left had disappeared. The right oriented parties and ideology is also bankrupted. The outcome is political apathy and low participation in the democratic system.

  Telesin, current Norwegian collision course with many EU and NATO countries is interesting and unprecedented. Frozen relationship between Hungary or threat of Czech Republic to break up diplomatic relationship with it after it caught its ambassador lying to the Czech media and to the Czech President is unparalleled in modern European history. It does not reflect well on the country that portraits itself as a humanitarian superpower of the Universe. Misunderstanding between two states are common, but they can be explained if there is a good will. Considering that Norway had ignored three diplomatic notes from fellow NATO member country, it shows only its arrogance.

  I have been almost every European country from Spain to Finland, from UK to Greece, and Ireland to Russia, so I have my favorites and I can compare. However, considering where Europe as whole is heading, there won't be much worth to visit in the next five to ten years. I used to have family in Vienna since the time of Imperial monarchy. I was there in the 70's, 80's when Iron Curtain was difficult to cross to visit my relatives. They all had passed away, and I do not have much reason to go there anymore. I been in Vienna at least 40x in my life, but this city is dirtier as the years go by. Last time I went there with my spouse we toured places where my aunt and cousins lived, but we got to run down street with full of Muslims and we witnessed a brutal street fight between some Turks. We swore never to visit that city again. If I want to see street adventure, I can go any inner city project in USA without wasting money on travel and exchange rate.

  I meant that 1990's where good years in Europe which was a lost chance. The Cold War has ended, Berlin Wall was gone, communism was morally and intellectually bankrupted, and Islamist terrorism was not known as a global phenomenon. All these chances to make world better was lost in that decade. European institutions did not create stability, but instead they are moving from one crisis to another. If there was no Greek crisis, than there is a war in Ukraine, disintegration of Schengen, mass unemployment, bankrupted countries. Islamization put the final nail into European dream and it will only make things worse (poor economic performance + inefficient government). Majority of EU countries still operate below its 2008 peak. Entire decade was lost. Future generation(s) will look into years starting from 2005 onward as one big disaster.

  I do not think these two events were related. Iceland eruption strained already limited European resources that were result of Seven Years Wars (1756-1763). After this war was over, European Continent suffered with poor harvests that lasted till 1773 and where up to 1/6 of population in many countries died from hunger. The famine ended suddenly with good harvests which caused population boom, and a huge dissatisfaction with the government. Austrian monarchy experienced its own version of peasant war in 1775 (caused by extremely good harvest, the best in the 18th century). Instability in France lingered till French Revolution. French Revolution was driven by population who lacked economic rise and means (too many people fighting fro finite resources, jobs, and positions). During the Thermidor coup in July 1794, temperature in Paris and Europe soared to 100F. Napoleonic era was known for its warm weather. The fashion of Directory till the end of Napoleon was very light with emphasis on silk.

  The Second Awakening was more or less an answer on European anticlerical movement originating from Jacobin France. France had until 1805 colonies in Northern America, and many French lived there. French military agents recruited there among settlers, and there were Jacobins clubs in USA. Whiskey rebellion in Ohio valley is believed to be incited by French government to pressure Americans to side with them against Britain. Jefferson was admirer of French culture and society, so for many deeply religious people, it would create adverse effect and seek out new religious zeal. Remember between 1789 and 1800, France executed thousands of priest, and Napoleon even arrested pope, which was unprecedented act in European history.

  The European left has goal to erode nation-state institutions. They see in Islamic immigrants potential voters, which would guarantee them with preservation of power. Additionally, the Left is trapped in 1968 intellectual movement, but the world have moved away from it long time ago. More power to the Left only will signify deep economic, cultural, and political decline of European states. Last time Europe had really any chance was in the 1990's benefiting from the end of the Cold War, but Islamization of Europe put the end of it.

  I am not familiar with Canada, but Norway had stolen various foreign national children, broke up the families, and put them for adoptions against any regard of their citizenship. It had done to Czechs, Poles, Lithuanians, Romanians, Russians, Swedish, and Indians. Czech president compared the program to German's Nazi Lebensborn. Last month, there was a demonstration in Bucharest against Norway. Next two weeks there are planned demonstration all over the world in front of Norwegian embassies. What is the most frustrating is that Norway behaves extremely arrogantly to other European states, and even does not bother to reply to three official diplomatic notes from fellow NATO country like Czech Republic. Norway interferes in Central Europe all the time, which was reason why Hungary expelled anyone associated with Norwegian funds, and these two countries had frozen relationship for 18 months (lifted on December 5, 2015). If you have almost dozen EU countries lined up against Norway, the problem is not on their side, but with Norway.

  I am not sure if you have visited any Scandinavian country, but I have been in all of them,multiple times, and I was not impressed. They are generally rude and unpleasant to other Europeans. Their social engineering programs has degenerated them. By 2030 Sweden will be 3rd world country by UN report. Many ways, it is already. People live with the image the Scandinavia had in 1970's, but reality is totally different. I went to Copenhagen to Helsinky to Malmo and elsewhere over last 25 years and I can compare it from my first visits. It can be said that pretty much entire Europe is broken and beyond any help at this point. The saddest thing is that majority of Europeans even do not care about it anymore.

  Saintbertholdt , I follow the case of Eva Michalkova for two years regarding kidnapping of two Czech nationals by Barnevernet, and this case is one the most medially reported there. There is also documentary which you can google out on her. It went as far as one NATO and EU member country is considering to break up the diplomatic relationship with Norway and expel its lying ambassador. Poland, Romania, Hungary, Lithuania were in some point were considering to put diplomatic pressure on Norway as well due exactly the same problem. Hungary had 18 months long diplomatic dispute with Norway. Contrary to géront's opinion of OldHippie, demonstration in Prague last year attracted between 500 and 1000 people. Various people from the president of the country to hockey players to diplomats and public figures got involved in the case. Not for nothing, Norway refused to sign 1996 convention, and ignores European countries, when it comes to deal with their nationals. Kidnapping foreign nationals is totally unacceptable for any country, but Norway has done exactly this to Eva Michalkova.

  TheOldHippie....You posted three responses like angry géront, but otherwise you had nothing to say. It is due your advanced retardation as a result of past LSD use? How conveniently you did not mention Poland in anti-Nazi coalition because it does not fit your agenda defending a country known for Quisling! You can use any search engine and find out, which news agency mentioned inbreeding in Norway first. This information appears in peer journals as far as 1891. All news sites from UK to Russia had published this information and various official governments in half dozen EU member countries dealt with it when it came to association with Barnevernet. It would also not hurt to verify that Norway did not sing 1996 Hague Convention on Parental Responsibility and Protection of Children. You are free to post whatever you feel to fit your agenda and opinion; but at the end, they are just opinions from old fool.

  Islam started in 7th century. After it used all knowledge of the Ancient world from conquests lets be it Alexandria to Damascus to India, it was unable to come up with significant development of its own like was European Renaissance and Enlightenment. Christianity went through own splits, but Reformation lasted 150 years and was settled in 1648. This was the last major religious conflict in Christianity on European continent. What Islam lacked was secularization but it actually been rewinding backward. Confrontation with much more advanced civilizations of the West, it responded with more religious zeal.

  Left had always love affair with Islam. This is not knew, but can be traced to 1948 when Stalin sided with Palestinians against Israel. Left parties became traditionally antisemitic and supportive Islam. This is also more prevalent when Israel is allied to USA. For European Left this is enough to support Islam regardless of consequences.

  I didn't know the Norwegian government was retarded. I can only hope that there is some real valid reason (like neglect) why the children were taken away from their parents.

  Norway is trapped in the liberal-left social engineering while implementing one of the brutal Nazi methods of its WWII past. Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Lithuania, India, Romania have a problem with Norway handling the issue with Barnevernet, arrogantly responding to official diplomatic notes or ignoring them all together. Barnevernet became a major liability for Norwegian reputation on world stage. Czech Republic is proposing breaking up diplomatic relationship with Norway. Hungary was considering the same and it had 18 months long dispute with it. Poland solved a problem with Barnevernet that it sent armed commando in disguise to Norway and removed its children citizens separated from their parents. There are dozens lawsuits against Norway in European courts and Norway is the only country in Europe that never signed charter protecting the rights of children.
  

  From multiple sources what I have read, Barnevernet is a big business, well funded organization without any oversight. Within next several weeks, there will be demonstrations in front of Norwegian embassies all over the world, but Norwegian population will be totally unaware of them like it was last year. What is protecting this country is its NATO membership. Otherwise, it will be one the most isolated, ostracized country on the Continent.
