I do not know about USA, but in Eastern Europe I have seen and encountered quite a few JW that do not accept all the teaching 100%. There are others who believes everything that WT writes, and when you show older publication that is in contradiction of the new teaching they will tell you outright that is no important was was written in 1970's, but what WT published in 2013.

Believing It All EXCEPT...
by Ding ini used to think that loyal jws bought into the wt teachings 100%.. that's certainly what the gb wants and expects and demands.. but then i encountered some jws who believe it all except for the opposition to higher education.. they think the gb is wrong about that, so all of the children are college educated.. others seem to believe it all but quietly celebrate family birthdays and various holidays.. these aren't people who are fading; they just ignore a few wt teachings that they don't like (despite the risks of being disciplined).. have you seen similar examples of active jws who are doing all the wt-approved stuff except for specific areas where they just ignore what the gb says is required?.

New here
by winnie12 inhey i'm new here, i've been reading up so much here and on other sites about tatt and it has really settled a nagging feeling of doubt within me.
truly i have been lied to and have been trapped in this cult.
i've been suffering with depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, hospitalization, anti depressants, loneliness all this while being in supposedly surrounded by "the happiest people" on earth.

Winnie, hug to you. I am pretty much new here, and started to post after I had very close talk with my extended JW family last summer after I walked away almost 20 years ago. I had finally came to conclusion in September, than entire JW faith is build upon lies and lies and they even do not care about maintaining their established doctrine but they want you to agree with momentary interpretation of their belifs that can change any time. You do not need to worry about dissociation with JW and their body, you are not leaving God, but man made organization. There are many people around you that cares about one another without being a part of decietful organization.

Fisherman, your comparison John 6:30 and Matthew 16:3 does not make sense with JW teaching of 1914. One is about the signs of the end of time, JW is teaching about "INVISIBLE" presence of Jesus Chris. A huge difference. If there were any sign of the end of times, they should had happened 100 years ago. JW for past 90 years are teaching that we are living in kingdom of Jesus right before the great battle of Armaggedon (right before cca 100 year still ongoing).
Finkelstein, I do not think JW and GB will abandon 1914 for another decade or two. There are still many codgers, who still believe 1914 nonsense and will continue to preach it until they die. For younger generation the WWI is becoming as distant as 100 Years war, and they will eventually get a new light pointing to new time. The 1914 will eventually fade into memory, but this will not happen right away.
TD or we should add, the millions that will never die.

As a child and young adult, I have belived in Armageddon. I did not believe in Santa Claus, because as a kid I had pull the guy's beard down to see my neighbor posing for kids in the school. Armageddon is for JW the same scarecrow as is hell for Catholics. It means to scare off people to submit to the doctrine of the church. While Catholics and other mainstream denomination frighten its population with an eternal damnation in the lake of fire, JW threaten with fire on earth and destruction in armageddon. And according to JW, people destroyed in Armageddon do not have a chance for resurrection.

Worst Ever Field Service Experiences
by dozy ingenerally i found most people were pretty apathetic and often surprisingly tolerant , but we've all had some bad ones.
looking back , here were my worst couple of experiences - there probably were others but i've probably long forgotten them or blanked them off.. i was a kid of maybe 13 & it was bitterly cold & pouring with rain.
i was working alone in a middle class street near my school where i knew a lot of my school teachers lived & was scared stiff at every door half the time pretending to press bells , doing the fake knock etc.

Thank you for sharing. I am fortunate not having any bad experience, but the weirdest thing was invated into family who were new born Christains and started to speak tongues. It made me very uncomfortable and I thought there are more religious crazies than in KH. The funniest encounter was with elder who walked me through new territory where he attempted to talk to anyone, and his favorite place was underground passage that connected city with bus terminal. He decided to approach a babushka (it was in Eastern Europe) who was running to catch a bus with a cane under her arm. He literally blocked her to get by him, and attempted to give her literature. The older woman, clearly confused, run even faster without paying much attention to us. Five minute later she was back wielding her cane high in the air, yelling and screeming that we are bastards and hooligans that let her deliberatelly missed her bus. It was probably the last one for that day that was going back to her village. My elder got cold feet and exited the passage into the nearest appartment complex were we hid. We never walked to homes that had dogs outside, especially when in Eastern Europe you had bunch of german shepperds, and various wolf hybrids. Also we avoided homes to be occupied by members of the communist party so we do not get arrested.
I heard once when elder and pioneer were attacked by gang of gypsies and once there was a woman who loved to greet brothers in her kinky underwear. I heard that several male members went on purpose to ring her door to see if the rumors about her outfit were true. How much was indeed true, I do not know, I never stopped at her place.

Problem for WT is is that they built entire theology around the 1914 year. They wasted 100 years and millions of people's lives on preaching that the invisible kingdom is present. They assurred thousands of people born before 1914 that they will never die. One by one in that generation has left the Earth. They also created two-tier christian groups, one with heavenly calling, one the Great Crowd, where almost anyone before 1914 was a part of the first one. To eliminate the 1914 nonsense, they would need to destroy majority of their theology. They will need to stick to it for some times, until they came with better date, or close the soul fishing business for good. Either way, they had cornered themselves with false teaching and they need to eat it up.

Fisherman, there is no whatsoever proof in Bible that 1914 is the year of the Jesus arrival. This datum is invented without any bases on Old or New Testament. There is also no whatsoever indication we live in the last days or going through Great Tribulation. The 1914 year is no fullfilment of Revelation 1:7, nor Luke 21:27, Matt 24:26-27, Dan 7:13-14. Nothing of these was seen in 1914, and the invisible presence is violating of these verses.
WWI was no more signifant that other wars like Napoleonic, 7 Years War, or WWII, not to mention Mongol invasion of Asia, Middle East and Europe in 13th century that witnessed much more fighting than entire area covered by trench warfare. Actully, the lowest point of the human history was probably 14th century with Black Death, ongoing war in China, and 100 Years war in Europe. This century alone witnessed more death than did WWI.

Thoughts on going back, am I the only one that feels this way?
by excaliber inhello everyone, i know you have heard this topic before and your probably thinking.
...not again lol.. but i was wondering if anyone has thought of going back for the same reasons as myself, i don't think its the truth but i searched and my conclusion is that other religions don't have the truth, they are all wrong in my opinion.
if there is no other religion to go too, why leave were i was born and raised.

There is no reason to go back. JW organization does not possess the truth, nor has spiritual events that would keep me interesting. There are no social interaction, no charity work, no causes to fight for. It is totalitarian organization with a sole of dedication proselyting others. It does not care about well being of its members, does not provide social services, cultural event, or economic support for the needy. Entire effort is wasted on soul fishing and distributing the literature. There is not enough time to visit dying people in hospice, nor delivering food for elderly, poor, or unemployed. These people according to WT theology need only one hope, that either Armageddon will come soon enough to rescue them from the misery, or they can hope for better life in earthly paradise after resurrection. Returing into organization that never had showed any concern or well being for its members is good for masochists. Secondary, JW organization does not allow diversity of opinion. They are beating themselves into chest screaming that they are theocracy. Only opinion that matters is the one given by governing body. The worst of it, it is the momentary explanation given by the GB, they even do not bother maintaing own established theology.

Thank you everyone for interesting posts, and I wish I could read all of them. One of the issue with WT have right now is the 1914 year, which hangs as a huge liability over the entire religous doctrine they been preaching for the past 90 years. WT will eventually phase out this belief, but not until 2034-2038, which will give them enough time to figure out new deadline, new parousia, new tribulation. The 2034 is pushed as mantra among JW for some time, I encountered it already in the 1990s.By 2034 most of the present decietful GB will be dead, as well aged JW who held this beautiful brochure in the 1980's in their hands:
http://savedfromthewatchtower.blogspot.com/2011/05/generation-that-will-not-pass-away.html
20 years is long enough to figure out how to get rid off the failure of 1914 prohecy. However, it was not until 1930's when the JW changed the End of Time year 1799, when clearly anyone living during the reign of Napoleon was dead. Overlapping generations can hold only for so long and eventually will create exodus from the organization. This exodus will be biological as the old members pass away, and new members will be far a few and between, while others will leave for good.
