My JW family will outright tell me that it is not important what was published 20-30-40 years ago and they do not care about it because they have a new light, and new truth. Even when I had sit in the KH and heard speculation that the big "A" will happen in 1989 because it was 70 years ago that Jesus choose them as his representative group. That was freeking 25 years ago, where entire new generation was born and other experienced significant life-based decisions. Problem with end time cults that they will run out of time and dates; therefore, they need to deny what they had prophecised, or to invent new date for justify its existence. JW managed to do both.

France was a crucial for funding American War of Independence and fought on the behalf of rebellious provinces against Britain. France invested heavily into USA, built its army, navy, gave credits, while introducing the new nation into the world of the international politics. After the Treaty of Paris, USA was bound with France as ally, something that George Washington and Adams dispised. In 1787, USA defaulted on the French debt which lead to straining relationship between both states. After the French Revolution, both republics turned against each other and were waging undeclared war. The Jay Treaty was considered as a treason by French and Robespierre ordered arrest of all Americans residing in France. France broke off diplomatic relationship with USA. Several French-Americans had also meeting with mme Guillotine and French inistigated various revolt like Whiskey Rebellion against American government. American government under Adams considered French settlers to be a danger and pursued deep anticatholic, anti-french policy in 1790's ownard. It appealed on anti-catholic sentiment as a threat against the new republic. For that reason, Second Awakening was deeply American, nationalistic movement that had no similar resonance in British Northern America or among Spanish and later Mexican territories. Adams even proposed expelling all Catholic and all French from the collonies and banning French catholics from receiving American citizenship. Americans sought peace with France in 1795, but French were demaning payback on its debt, and continued sizing American ships, cargo, and properties. This was also reason behind the XYZ affairs. USA eventually in December 1800 broke any alliance with France. Jefferson normalized relationship with France, but the bitterness between predominantly Protestant USA and Catholic based European powers remained through much of the 19th century. The Second Awakening often identifies European catholicism as an example what is wrong with the old world and how the new Republic was much better. The Irish, Polish and Italian immigration did not start much until 1840's, and the identification of Europe equaling Catholicism equaling Rome remained. This can be seen in many Russell's teaching. Very a few Americans are aware that besides UK and Scandinavia, almost entire Central Europe was Protestant until 1648, and Poland, France, Hungary had significant Protestant minorities.

" has any information on how "this generation" turned into two overlapping generations of only anointed people been printed?
the word "evidence" was thrown around a lot in the article, but none was provided unless something has been printed since then and i have missed it.

I remember in the 1990's they came up with overlapping generations. I walked away 20 years ago, so I am not sure what they based their generation today, but my siblings in JW told me that the overlapping generations could be three or four as they were told at KH based on Exodus 20:5.

Apognophos had a good point and I agree that JW are master of deceptions. JW will tell you one thing but will deny it later. When I was in KH we were taught that it is acceptable to lie to decieve enemies and Satan. JW and their literature shamelessly decieve and lie all the time, even about their past. They whitewash incorrect dates, prophecies, and events. They will deny what was published 20, 30, 50 years ago. People were DF for things they were taught in the past and when the light changed, the rest had to accepted or to be accussed for apostacy. JW will always put priority on their publication than Bible. I find it strange and unheard that after 3 years you will not be introduced to their publications. People were, are, and will be DF for reading Scriptures and if they disagree (it could be very little) with publication and Bible, they will be DF right out there. Once you become JW all Bible reading cases and family or small group bible studies were banned as far I remember in the 1980's. Majority of JW do not even know what is written in Bible. They only know selective chapters and verses, especially dealing with Armageddon. Anything else that does not fit into extremist ideology is blurred, whitewashed, or outright skipped during studies.
At the end as I had said, you have free will and it is up to you joining man made religion. If you think you can escape later, than you need to consider all the issues that you will leave behind that will never get fixed again. Your family, happiness, children, career, education. JW cult damaged my relationship with my father who never accepted it and eventually died estranged from rest of JW family. It is something that NEVER can be redone and fixed. It is lost forever. My eldery parent (and my adoptive father) never prepared for old age and saved for the inevitable to be condemned to live in poverty and my monetary support because the big "A" was just behind the corner. That I heard 40-30-20 years ago. Go ahead and join, but be warned of the deception. There is no happiness on joining man-made religious publishing house and expecting serving a God.

As it mentioned by others, it is inherited in Anglo-saxon religious fanatism that dominated all religous awakenings in Northern America. English church and its descending protestant and evangelical churches created from Catholic church as scapegoat of all wrong with European mainstream religion. USA was since its creation in 1783 always anti-catholic, this was inherited by Baptists, Adventists, and later JWs. Catholic church with its extensive properties, religious churches, dominant education and social services represented everything that is wrong with ancestral Europe for white settlers in USA. Additionally, USA in the 1790's broke off relationship with France as it was obligated and bounded by treaty to it, and French Catholic settlers were considered as a dangerous troublemakers in new republic and Adams wanted to expel them out. The anti-french and anti-catholic feeling was prevalent during the 2nd Awakening which was formative for development of early JW doctrine.

Regardless what NT say, Jews do not believe that Jesus was a king and was/is messiah. Secondary, NT was written decades after Jesus death and there is no definitive proof that Jesus said and did things as is written by apostles. Paul who wrote the rest of NT never met Jesus in person.

- Misery like company. The same miserable, unhappy creatures feel unified in their view of bad, ungodly world that does not understand them.
- Feeling to be superior to other. JW teaches that they are unique, choosen class of people having special relationship with God while everyone else worship bad god or Satan.
- Lazyness. You do not need anything in your life to achieve academically or socially. You do not need to go to school, invest into career, or your future. You sit in trailer or section 8 housing abusing welfare, while using free time to hunt souls for WT theocratical warfare. Everything else in your life will be solved in new world, which include better health, housing, and living standard. But on this world, you do not need anything to work for.
- People are brainwashed and do not understand the world outside the KH. The organization is the only reality they deal and do not cause them to get lost.
- You invest decade living and worshiping nonsense. You are scared of big "A" and you are not sure if you survive it. The KH gives you sense of security and reason. After decades you cannot throw your life away just because you were decieved.

WT is a dooms day cult organization with American centric view of the event as any other crazy religous groups that originated in USA in the past 200 yeas (think mormons, adventists, and others). They attempted to explain Scripture with the same reasoning as other Christian groups without ability to get satisfying answers. Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant churches trying that for centuries. Yet, some obscure religious group like WT think that they will get the answers, something what much larger and powerful religous groups like Catholics were unable to do so.
WT since the time of Russell were preoccupied with earthly paradise under supervison of the Old Testament prophets and king. They believed in the restoration of Eden with disregarding the finite space and resources on this planet. Nonetheless, Russell believed that 144,000 will go to Jesus' kingom in heaven:
He ordained also that a certain specific number should be chosen from amongst men to be his joint-heirs in the Kingdom--participants with him of the New Creation. We have every reason to believe that the definite, fixed number of the elect is that several times stated in Revelation (7:4; 14:1); namely, 144,000 "redeemed from amongst men."
144,000 is a fixed number, not symbolic. The number of sheep:
If we multiply the number of square furlongs in the city by the 144 measures of a man the result is 144,000,000 by 144 or 20,736,000,000, the estimated number of the sheep class at the end of the Millennial Age.
Since its foundation WT was obsessed with numbers, numerology, and dates, and will attempt to model its theology upon it. On the end, it comes down to business, since 20,736,000,000 individuals (2.5x or present world's population) would require a lot of printing and publications.

Germany never had advantage on WWI. Its military doctrine was build on assumption that it can repeat the war of 1870-1871 in quick invasion of France throughout Belgium, defeat it and turn eastward against Russia. Both assumption were utter failure. First of all, Germany did not expect that UK will honor its obligation to defent Belgium neutrality. Germany also did not expect that Belgians would put a big fight, which they did. Secondarily, any hope on quick victory on the battlefield was dashed by miracle of Marne. From that point, it was undecisive war and Germans never had superirority on the Western front. On the Eastern front, Russia mobilized much quickly than expected and overrun Austro-Hungarian position in Galicia. Prussia was almost invided and Germany was from that point on fighting two wars at the same time. The combined economic and industrial potential of Russia, UK, and France with all its colonies were much larger than German's economic ouput. Italy and Romania which were bounded to Germany and Austria-Hungary switched the alliances and went against Germany. It was lost war for Germany, and German's only achieved superiority against Russia which economically and politically disintegrated in 1917 and withdrew from war by signing armistance with Germany. USA entrance to the war was an additional drawback for Germans (USA did not declared war against Austria-Hungary).
Nonetheless, 1914 was no turning point of humanity. France continued uninterrupted as III. Republic until the defeat of 1940. Germany was still a major European player even after 1918 and 1945. Austria-Hungary disintegrated, but much of the inner politics survived well until communist takeover in Central Europe in the 1940's. Austrian criminal laws from 1851 was not replaced in descending countries until 1950-1960! So did political parties, civic organization, judicial system, tax structure, and local politics. Again, 1914 did not interrupted any of these by sudden turning point. On the larger scale, each country that was built upon the ruin of Austrian Empire, developed own poltical system. Czechoslovakia democracy, Hungary fascism, Yugoslavia and Romania were monarchies, Poland and Austria as right wing dictatorship. World changed much more in 1945 with the end of the European supremacy.
