As someone who lived under Soviet domination in my youth and witnessed/participated in overthrowing it in 1989, I am extremely upset with the handling of the Ukraine crisis. When I went to university after I walked from JW, I wrote a thesis on political situation in Ukraine more than decade ago where I compared war in Yugoslavia and disintegration of USSR. I had back then warned that Ukraine will eventually face similar fate like did Croatia in 1991-1995. The war was already discussed by various Eastern Europeans. Ukraine does not have fixed ethnic boundaries. There will be eventually full scale war. Russia will take over Ukraine before it will turn its attention to Baltic states. USA does not have strong international leader like was Ronald Reagan, who was not affraid to oppose communism. USA only cares about strategic countries, but Ukraine is not one of them.

I think my D.O. Is a closet apostate. References Stanford Prison Study and hints he sometimes disagrees with the Branch

1. zero yes 0 references to the fds in any of his talks.. 2.he also told elders that the brothers worship god and not them.so therefore the elders have no authority to order the friends around.. 3. he also talked about the stanford prison study and said that people who receive authority over others often abuse it.
4. he mentioned that when he disagrees with the branch (aka the fds) he's learned to just do what they say.

I would not think that D.O. is a closeted apostate. I remember various talking like these to lure unsuspecting and unhappy JWs with the organization from their annonimity, than denounce them and expel from WTB. D.O. can create a sense of reform and changes to people who for a while were critical with theology and governance of thw FDS, so they come out from the closet. Once these people are out and open, they can be easily put in front of JC and DFs. I remember one elder who analyzed something likes from our D.O. and later brought to elders. The called the D.O. who of course denied, and elder was out where JC had only one intention: kick rebels out.
WT is a master of lies and will decieve many.

It will depend on the region, but it seems the most violent era was 1250-1350 century where the most people were killed in relationship of population and violent death. Think about the conquest of China, Kievan Rus, Iran, Bagdad, Crusaders, the start of the 100 Years War, and Timur invasion of Indian subcontinent.
1620-1720 era was also violent when it comes to 30 Years War, Ottoman Wars, The War for Spanish succession, Great Northern War. 19th century was only peaceful relatively as major European powers after the Congress of Vienna created a balance of power and check. Still there were war with Astro-Italian war, Austro-Prussian War, Franco-Prussian War, Crimean War.. and most of the European conflicts were exported abroad on during the imperialism.

I remember reading about the Newton prediction of Armageddon many years ago. But it was much later than JW, around 2060 or so. Contemporary French philosophers were rather critical of Bible and were moving away from rationalize world on it.

The end of the world was and is an obsession of Anglo-saxon countries and can be traced to all four awakenings that spawn from Northern America. Newton and others were in the 18th century tried to figure out the end of the world by using enlightenment approach to Bible and calculate it by some formula. This was much more popular in the 19th century, but the origin of all these Armageddon prophecies are within Age of Reason. European catholicism and orthodoxy had share of their prophecies in earlier era, but as the centuries passes, Catholic and Orthodox churces abandoned to predict the end. It was also considered heresy by inquizition. There were numerous predictions in the late Roman Empire. When Rome was sacked by Goths in 410 people could not imagine a power that without Rome; therefore, they believed that the end was imminent. St. Jerome was shocked to hear the city that conquered the world was conqured. Christians were expecting Jesus return as the power of the Rome was gone. St. Augustine wrote his best book, City of God. However, as the centuries passed and the land of the Imperial Rome was ploughed and destroyed, the feeling of dissapointment was there. Armageddon was predicted in 843 when Frankish Empire collapsed, in 999 and so on. But these voices were less and less prevalent in the medieval Europe. Medieval Bohemia believed that the Armageddon would happen in 1419. Million people flocked to the hills and waited and waited, yet nothing happened. It was much later when Reformation produced numerous Protestant denomination when the end of the day mania started all over again.

If two adult people decides to have life together, it is not whatsoever your business to tell them how to live their life, and how to call their relationship. Two lesbians can have children and rise them without father. They can get artifical insemination. They are family as long one of the partner does not walk away or die. It does not matter how YOU call it. I do not care, nobody in the universe care, and two people in the relationship certainly do not care. You do not decide what makes someone family.

Same sex relationship are natural to people who do have same sex attraction. It has nothing to do with biology of procreation. Same sex attraction is not about procreation; and if two individuals find love in their attraction, their bond is based on love, support, friendship and common values. It again does not have to do with genetalia. Majority of gay men do not engage in gay sex in their relationship, and after years together and over 50, they most likely spent time in garden, planning retirement, fishing, or travel. Again, innability to procreate did not stop having two people loving, and meaningfull relationship. It is not your business to tell how two individuals should live their life. If two lesbians meet and have children due artificial insemination, they have family, and nobody should say anything. The family remains, until one of the partner leaves or die. Your preocupation with genitalia as way expressing long lasting relationship among couple is certainly wierd, and you are ignorant that you have equate brain caused attraction among two adults with reproduction. Social setting in our western world allows anyone to choose not procreate. Not every human straight or gay has desire to produce offspring. Science does not deal with unatural. It deals with fact supported by evidence. Either way, modern science does not considered two adults in relationship as unatural. They have not since 1850's onward.

The Time is at the Hand was published the first time in 1889 (125 years ago!). This is long time at the the hand and five six generation away. Nobody is alive from that generation. WT and JW are false prophets for anyone who read the WT publication from May 15, 1984. I remember it on the studies and remember these who said that were part of that generation. Every single person I knew from that generation is dead. Nuf said.

I have noticed that there are many individuals who lived to 100. I wonder what diet, lifestyle they had that lived that long. Do they worked hard physically? Also I see couple youngster in their 20's.
