JWs AND THE OCCULT!

to go along with this video if you look closely at any cover of the latest wt or aw magazines you will always find (if you take your time) a pyramid or triangle in some shape or form even if it is not completely symmetrical, check it out on the jw website.

also virtually all kingdom hall exteriors will have a pyramid or triangle shaped roof, take a look at your local hall or google kingdom halls.

For JW everything that does not conform to the WT norms is a demon possessed and occult. I remember once field service where we went to one elderly guy in Carpathian mountaisn whose relatives were JW. It was in the farm country where sheeps are everywhere. The guy had a wood table that was hand carved with motifs of the sheperd lifes which included ornaments of sheeps and goats (and also there were bears and wolves). The female JW nut immediatelly commented the goats on the table as horned animal resembling demons and satan. She than notices that she was sitting in the chair that had each ending paired sheep/goat and jumped out.. She insisted that there were demonic symbol, which I had objected as no true. She immediately cut the bible studies and sprinted out of the house as she was haunted by demons.

I noticed over the years in the cult that everything for JW is occult. Music, architecture, art, anything they cannot explain or what is not blessed by WT publication.

When a JW relative came to visit . . . .

for those of you who are shunned, it is in disguise a blessing.

becuase when you are not shunned, jws come to visit.

it is the most tiresome hosting you will ever endure.. for the first 2 1/2 days, it was straight talk about "jehovah", the "organization", the "bible", then, "how bad these times are", "can't wait to see someone dead in the new world" .

I had visited my JW realtives after many many years. They are old, and with some issue of old age senility where they live of memories from the past, but still interested in current events. They feel to be decieved and betrayed by WT after spending half century in the "Truth". They know they will not see Armageddon as it will not appear in their lifetime and accepted the innevitable of the life. They were rather resigned and cared less what WT had to say. However, my other relatives who are in Boomer generation are awaiting the Armaggedon as a solution from their probles, the fear of entering retirement with nothing saved and a lot of debt.

The Ice Age ended around 12000 years ago. The glacier maximums did varied by the continent, but sea levels stopped rising around 8000BC. There is a huge time gap between this event and when the first written records happened. This gap makes almost impossible for any generations to transmit stories orally about any global event after several thousand years. The major explosion of volcano Thera in Greece happened around 1600BC, and was probably the biggest volcanic event in the past 50000 years. It was remembered only for next 600 years and there were only sporadic references to it by archaic Greeks, Chinese, and Egyptians. This evant was pretty much forgotten during the rise of the Neo-Assyrian empire (780 BC), but the explosion was so powerful that it could be teoretically observed from our Moon.

There are many huge issues with much of water comming suddenly from the space without leaving any traces in our recent geological times. We can calculate Earth mass that had been rather stable in the past 600 mil years. 650 million years ago was the last time when the planet earth was almost entirely covered with water, which is also known as Snow Ball effect. The glaciars reached to both circle of tropics leaving small open seas around the equator. The continental surface had expanded due volcanic activity at the end of precambrain period. This ended the snow ball effect of our planet. The earth radius is also constant for past 600 million years in which increased only by 1%. Earth radius changes about 1/10mm per year. This is recorded in mineral deposits all over the world. For any massive catastrophe like sudden water rise globally would shown or cause:

Glaciers, where some of them are old as much as 10 million years, and yield interesting information about past climate, but do not record global flood.
Sediments would indicate sudden increases of various deposits all over the world as the water would recede.
Ozon layer would be decimated, and probably most of the living organism would die out due IV exposion.
Changes in the salinity of oceans. We know several cycles of changes in ocean salinity. One is directly tied to Messinian salinity crisis 5.5 million years ago when Mediterranean Sea almost dried out due closer of the Gibraltar. Sudden water levels on global scale would have affected salinity with it also changes in marine life.
Much of the flora would die out, becaue it would not survive under water. Forests migration pattern is easy to document from pollen traces (yes pollen can survive thousands of years). The sudden decimation of forests around the globe would affect the level of oxygen. While ocean produce most of oxygen, 25-35% is generated by forests. Atmosphere would be difficult to breath after flood without decreased oxygen.

she grew up a very happy jw, and to leave is very hard for her.

but she has opened the pandoras box of her brain and can't shut it.. we were discussing blood a couple days ago.

Land bridges like between Asia and Northern America or Malaysia and Indonesia were already gone during the 4000BC. The last Ice Age ended 10-12K BC and water levels were risign for thousands of years. There are numerous issues with Flood. Human population was about 25 millions around 2200 BC and land was widely cultivated. Any sudden distruption by the flood followed by massive die off would be shown in the soil deposit, pollen, trees, etc. There is nothing of it, yet the science can pinpoint eras in human history when massive population collapses showed much smaller land cultivation. The most studied is era of the late Antiquity when collapse of the Western Roman Empire, its agriculture, population, and crops is well known and documented. We known that Roman Empire collapsed and population shrunk from 120 millions in its peak to 35-45 millions. Many villages and cities were abandoned and land was no more cultivated for centuries. Similar smaller collapse happened after the disintegration of Frankish Empire in 840's onward, but also during the Bronze Age. Between 1600BC and 1100BC the world went through Dark Ages of the Bronze Era due explosion of Thera and Hekkla volcanoes that devastated Minoan, Hittite, Levant, Assyrian, even Chinese civilizations at that time. Depopulation and mass migration are documented even with Egyptian written sources. Yet 800 years before it, there is no trace of anything devastating like global Flood. Even educated Jews in the 1st millenium doubted truth of the Flood and considered it as a moral story for their members, but not a description of true event.

i am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.

i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.

but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.

Welcome LillyC. This site is generally oriented toward people who were connected with JW and are no more part of the man made organization. It is important for you before you commit yourself into researching what really JW teaches, its history, and 140 years of constantly failed predictions. The WT is a different organization than that one I grew up, and the doctrines had changed so much over the years that they do not resemble anything we studied 20-30 years ago. Over the years the dumbing down of the JW went into such depth that they cannot even recolled commonly known Bible stories. You will be certainly impressed with the original interest in the Bible, God, and hope; they will answer everything you need to know, but once you became a member, all biblical studies cased. Once you question any doctrine or information from their publications, you will be ostracized and avoided as troublemaker. WT almost never gives satisfying answers to JW, who are expected to accept whatever is momentarily published. Just ask them about visible or invisible presence of Jesus; what was role of Satan in OT, etc... and compare it with own research. Good luck to you.

I remember reading about Russell in 1914 sitting on the rooftop wrapped in white sheet and looking into the sky for any signs. I had seen also a picture of him like that, although very poorly made (old man with a white blanked around his shoulder). Russell was one point paranoid when the thunderstorm passed by. I am not sure how much is truth into it, but I am sure someone will have more information about it.

What is definition of a true friend, once outside the cult?

after leaving the cult of jw's or waking up to ttatt, it is a struggle to trust people again.

i am personally starting from scratch although i am still in.

each moment i spend with my current jw friends, i know they are all smiles and loving towards me because of my good status with the wt.. outside a cult you still find fake people and it is also a struggle to find true friends and it is even worst when we've been hit hard from people we used to trust and care for.. .

It is hard to make friends and I can generally think only two people. There is old Czech saying that real friend will double you happines and halving your sorrow.

The Watchtower is under siege from inside and outside

that is the reason the watchtower leaders are desperately trying to protect their indoctrinated supporters from being influenced by the critics.. it will get harder and harder to recruit in countries where the internet is easily accessible...the watchtower has no control over the public like it does the indoctrinated jws.

..any interested person can very easily google and learn the truth about the watchtower cult before a 'return visit' can be made.

although most jws would be afraid to go into 'apostate ' sites, more and more are waking up to the truth about the watchtower , their interest triggered by different reasons such as the child abuse cover up, the constantly changing doctrines,the downsizing etc.

WT will always attract people especially in countries with established national churches and religion. There are always a group of people who are dissatisfied with the choice of their religion and go on church shopping spree. Some of them eventually end in JW religion. Sometimes personal crisis like illness, death, natural disaster causes people to join an organization with extreme views. JW offers people easy solutions; they do not need to study, save for retirement, worried about health, because Armageddon is just behind the corner to solve their personal issues.

Describe What a Jehovah's Witness Elder Is Like

i know what they are supposed to be like.

but at this point in time, do you think the elders look joyful?

are they serious bible students?

I had nice elders in my KH and also bunch of arrogant pricks who thought they knew it all. The nice elders were generally educated and fathers, and not dogmatic, but never were as important in the organization. Others I could imagine as a cold, souless prison guard in Nazi Germany. No feeling, emotion, affection. Extremely totalitarian and authorative. There were also one or two elders as jgnat describes as salesman. I think like good cop, bad cop combo. The cold dictators who would threaten anyone with DFs or armageddon; pushing children into baptism, feeling entitled to date the prettiest sisters in the KH, and were known as wife-beater or child beater. The good cop elders were always so optimistics playing on your feelings and emotions, I feel my DO was like that.

My thoughts while watching Schindler's list movie...

i'm not a big movie watcher but last night i watched part of schindler's list.

this was my second attempt to do so because i couldn't watch the whole movie when it first came out.

again last night i cried at the cruelty of it all and hatred behind the extermination of 6 million people because they were of different origin or had different beliefs.

The best research material on O. Schindler was written by Czech historian Jitka Gruntova whose book was published in 2002. When the movie came out in Czech Republic, the old timers had booed as it was not reflecting the historical truth. People forget that it was not documentrary but movie based on horrible tragedy. I think my grandmother knew him, because they were going in the same school district in the 1920's, I wish I could ask her before she died. Problem with the movie occurred when it was written 25 years after the events in Australia by guy who did not know the locations located behind the Iron Curtian and he recorded memories of the survivors.

When I was in the school in the 70's we had survivors of WWII and concentration camps coming there and retelling stories from their life. Some of them were really shocking. My father told me that he witnessed Jews being thrown from the roof of the highest building in the city while there was music playing and that the bodies made imprint in the sidewalk below. In 1944 he was as child evacuated into countryside from the city due air rides (it leveled much of my hometown city center), but Gestapo set up entire villages on fire and killed bunch of people as a relaliation for supporting the partysans. After the war, there was ongoing civil war until 1947, which almost killed him and my grandparents after someone thrown grenate into their house that luckily did not exploded.
