  according to a video over at jwsurvey there was 3 congregations in the path of that supper typhoon that hit the philippines.

  the government had told people in these areas to get out but the jw's stayed for thier thursday night meetings and then spent the night in thier kingdom halls to weather out the storm.

  two of the 3 congregations even though their halls were destroyed they all survived but the third a hall in the worst hit area was not so lucky.

  i'm talking like makes you physically sick and emotionally frazzled just thinking about it.

  i'm talking like you hate it to the point you'd rather go without than work at it just for the money.

  you'd live on cheap korean packet noodles for the next year instead of exchanging your labor for this job's money.. well, this is how i feel about teaching and tutoring.

  Good for you Bells. When I moved, I had accepted good job with excellent salary; but horrible, sadistic, semi-literate boss who could not understand why he cannot divide by zero and smashed calculator to mean team that bullied anyone who was too young or too old. I was miserable. I find a job that payed less and I quit, walked away whistling and smiling. Years later, the company closed office and when I drive by, I see for SALE sign. I continue smiling.

  DJS, I understand what you mean. I read Economist regualarly and been past 20 years. Currently I see world as fragmented among several players, not unipolar or bipolar. China is not invicible and many Westerners believe that economic laws do not apply there and China will continue to rise indefinatelly. However, China in the past had several deep, lasting collapses and I believe it is a giant with clay feet that may and certainly will collapse. Today we have major economic crisis in the West both in Europe and USA and I do not see in my lifetime both leading the world as it did in 1960's and 1970's.

  Bad job with horrible bosses, coworkers, and high stress will have terrible effect on anyone mind and health. If staying at work 40 hours in week which turns into hell, it can be probably the most difficult part of the life. The best way is to find another job and quit. At this economy it is much harder, but there is no reason to stay years in stressful job.

  the next time a jw asks you the questions in the title, just tell them about the "two by twos" and the "cooneyites".. they have some similar beliefs as jws but are even more zealous in putting kingdom interests first, living far simpler and less materialistic lives than even zealous jws.

  they reject the triniy as unscriptural.

  they preach in twos.

  Rejection of Trinity can be traced all the way to medieval period. In medieval kingdom of Bohemia, protestant movements in the 15th century that culminated with Hussite Wars and Revolution, there were groups that rejected Trinity. There were various protestant groups in the 16th through 19th century in Europe that did not believe Trinity. WT was not first that rejected Trinity.

  exWTSlave, correctly and nicely summarized. Jews believe that sin is result from personal inability to uphold G-d laws and commandments (Deut 30:10-14). If people will believe that they need to follow G-d commandments only, it will make Jesus sacrifice obsolete an uncecessary. Therefore, Christianity invented the notion of original sin from Adam and Eve that spreads out into everyone as a venereal disease to control its followers.

  God created man and woman in His own image on the Sixth Day, but that Eve did not yet exist (Gen 1:27). Therefore, some rabbies used to explain that Adam had both sexes, was hermaphodite or even bisexual. When Eve was created the feminine site of Adam was taken out of him, yet the union of two in the sex act should return into original creation where, a man and a woman shall be one flesh.

  Every society experience rise and fall. USA is not different. In the past, Roman, Persian, Mongol, or British empire had failed. This century belongs to China. However, it is foolish to think that China is not invincible. It had experienced several collapses and dark ages. Nonetheless, I would not write off USA or Europe. Both worlds possess technology, captial and enterpreutical spirit. Europe since 1250 was wealthier than any other contemporary civilization until 1945 when its hegemony was overtaken by USA. BRIC countries are still developing. Russia has lower economic output per capita than Poland. Iran, Indonesia, or Venezuela are 3rd world countries

  Designs, you are correct. Jews do not believe in original sin or Adamic sin that was transferred into all human race.This was invented by apostle Paul as a prequisition of Christian claim of salvation through Jesus. It is sometimes viewed as a doctrine that takes form after Christianity severed its ties to Judaism, where Adamic sin made Christianity possible and necessary while Judaism became obsolete. This doctrine is not explicit in the gospels, and became formulated 350 years after the death of Jesus.

  Another issue with original sin lies here:

  If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? If, though, you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you shall master over it (Genesis 4:6-7).

  If sin is something that someone cannot control or restrain it, was Cain motion to kill his brother based on his sin or free will? Additionally, Judaism teaches that man is responsible for his own action and his own sins, not for action of his ancestors (Deut 24:16). The life created in the woman is without an attachment to sin. Life starts with a perfection according to Talmud. The sin emerges as soon as the child leaves the woman's womb, like it leaves through the door.

  So far the Weather Channel mentioned 30 people killed in latest tornado outbreak . Tornado warnings are from Gulf to Tennessee.
