I had discussion on Satan with my Jewish in-laws and with rabbi, and they both told over the time, they do not believe in Christian interpretation of Devil who torment souls of sinners for eternity in hell. This concept is foreign to Jews. They consider Satan as someone who collect evidence on someone misbehaving and as David Jay said is to argue in the heavenly court on personal failing of humans. It is like court appointed prosecutor. Prosecutor does not sentence you to jail, the judge does. Prosecutor only argues the laws and presents evidence when someone violates it. -

How many killed by the 5 Cholera pandemics during the 1800's?
by redpilltwice inyou all know jwfacts (run by paul grundy).
on this website, under “did the last days start 1914” ---> “pestilence”, it says:“during the 1800's five cholera pandemics killed around 100 million people.” .
there is no link to any source of info, so i emailed paul and asked where i can verify that total number?

Mephis, that is possible, but I think it is on the upper limit scale. If the world population reached 1.5 billions around 1860 and 10% of population was affected, you will get 150 millions people. If 1/3 had died that will leave 50 million death toll. -

In school we modeled cholera, Spanish flu, and other epidemics as a case studies for population dynamics and disease propagation. I remember that cholera in 1830's or 1860's infected every ten person in continental Europe. First epidemic had death rate about 40-50% and each subsequent epidemic was less lethal due improved care and sanitation. Third epidemic claimed less than 20% of the victims. But this was modeled on German, Prussia, and Austrian records. I only created a maps for Spanish flu in Baltimore area, due abundance of the records. I still think the estimated death toll would be between 35-45 millions in the 19th century alone. 100 millions maybe high shot, and could lump different outbreaks like yellow and typhoid fevers. -

I am not sure about the total counts for this epidemics, but it is generally known that in the 19th century every ten living person in Europe was infected by cholera and from which 1/4 had died in the first three epidemics. Consider world's population in the 1850 was about 1.5 billions, from which majority lived in East Asia and Europe. So even with that number it is possible that as much as 100 million could die in 100 years from just one type of disease. -

My cat died suddenly!
by Fisherman ini did not realize that they were symptoms that something was wrong with my cat -but i did notice that my cat was breathing a little differently for a period of about a few days.
i also noticed prior and after to that, that on occasion, my cat would cry at the litter box, but that was a very seldom event.. anyway, about a week ago i noticed the symptom that my very loved cat was breathing heavy.
so i called a taxi and i was going to rush him to emergency room for cats.

Pets are part of your family. Their death is loss that causes sorrow. When my cat of 18 years died, It hurt. I had a tears in my eyes as he was dying in my lap while struggling for last breath and his eyes fixed on mine. He is buried in my garden in plastic container wrapped in white sheet with his favorite toy, bowl, and brush. I have an angel statue on that spot and white calla lilies planted around it. -

In the Jewish religious beliefs, Satan is a good guy. It is not antagonist between G-d and himself, nor it is a symbol of evil, or punisher of sinners in hellish eternity. Jews do not believe in devil, this is Christian invention. Jews consider Satan as someone who is employed by G-d and used to do work on His behalf like collecting evidence on someone misdeed. As heavenly being, he can't be evil while be at the presence of the creator at the same time. -

I had once issue with a cat licking a paint on the wall. We painted on room, and my cat started licking the wall and threw up. We had to repaint the wall and she stopped doing it. However, cats are also picky either, but they have their weird tastes. The cat I had for 18 years loved donuts, and other liked fries and mayo. My leopard is more stuck on his cat food and does not care much about human food nor does he begs for it. But he is messy either and he likes to plays with his food. I have to stand by him when I feed him and telling him that he is a good boy and he eat his bowl. Otherwise he will smear it all over the floor. -

Sorry to hear about lose of your kitty. I am a cat person and grew up with them. I have one Asian leopard hybrid and he is the most affectionate cat I so far had. I had cat for 18 years and died due old age, and I was very sad. I consider my cat to be a part of the family. They have own personality, and show their love. My cat walks me to the door when I go to work, and greets me at the window when I am back. Sudden cat death is actually common. Cats are picky eater, so I do not think it was poison, but cat suffer with kidney failure and respiratory disease. One of my cat died from cancer. He had a tumor in his belly and died several weeks later. Cherish memory of your kitty. I miss my cat of 18 years and I still wish I have him around. -

1974 Special Meetings
by NeonMadman inas we all know, armageddon was just around the corner in 1974. at the district conventions that year, it was announced that there would be two special meetings during the month of september; one would be for interested people (e.g., bible studies, family members, inactive, etc.
), and the other would be for baptized publishers.
these were to be held in place of the service meetings for the two weeks, iirc.

I was a kid in the 1970's, but I remember how my JW aunt told me not worry about going to school, because Jesus will be arriving shortly and we will only need to study a love and unlimited wisdom in a new system. 40 years later, I am thinking how many years I have to work to retire. My aunt is long gone, and a new system nowhere on sight. -

Gay Jihadis?!
by LoveUniHateExams inapparently, aseel muthana, a yemeni-british man from cardiff, was radicalized to follow his elder brother to travel to da'ish.. he was encouraged by forhad rahman and two other extremists.
according to the gay times, muthana and rahman exchanged flirty texts, with rahman alledgedly calling muthana a welsh cutie.. when police arrested the three extremists for supporting terrorism, they tried to stop the text exchanges from being made public, out of concern for aseel muthana's safety - what with him travelling to da'ish, the possible gay nature of the texts, and da'ish's hatred for gay people.. i don't know if this is true, but it seems as if it is.
where to start?.

Many gay men went to Nazi party, served in SS, and were supporters of A.H. while their lovers were sent into the camps. Two weeks ago, I watched a documentary on Lida Baarova, who was a mistress of Joseph Goebbels. Eye witnesses from the WWII mentioned that Lida had on numerous occasion tried to seduce one of the highest SS commander and perpetrator of Holocaust, Horst Böhme, who was gay and she never got "lucky" with him. Yezov, one of the mastermind of Stalin purges and mass murderer during Moscow Purges was openly gay, which eventually led to his fall.
