a 30 year old black student then threw his pooh on the statue and that got the ball rolling to pull the statue down.
the board of this university built also gives out burseries and grants to previously disadvantaged black south africans and not disadvantaged black south africans.. there has been a huge debate in the country and now the statue has been removed.

opinion filed.. (signed published) the judgment against defendants on the negligence count is affirmed.
the judgment against watchtower on the cause of action for punitive damages is reversed with directions to enter judgment for watchtower on punitive damages.

Preaching from door-to-door is an activity that individual Jehovah’s Witnesses only engage in when they feel motivated to speak about God.” Even if the Congregation could not require field service, the evidence established that, when members wanted to do field service, Watchtower determined whether they were eligible and the Congregation controlled the manner in which the service was performed.

More disturbing down here right now is the Xenophobia being expressed by........... Black people against ............Black people, especially in an area very close to where Ms Louise lives viz KwaMashu [Google it if you like].
Barrold ! You seem to really have it in for Louise don't you ! You enjoy displaying power over females - especially those whose lives have been hammered a bit ? Eh ? -Finis-
I think the "Poo" protesting and daubing of the statues of all and sundry countrywide is just people with nothing useful to do - maybe some are being incited by those with political ambitions.
So now we await the first "attack" on a statue of Madiba [Mandela] !

The accompanying reportage is interesting all the same.
What are possible scenarios that could develop out of this now ???
eg could it ultimately occur that Ms Conti gets awarded a new amount - less or in excess of the original - $28 M ??
Could she be affected negatively in any way? Costs ? etc
And does this mean all subsequent matters will now centre around the "punitive damages" part only ? It cannot become a criminal matter etc ?
All the legal eagles valuable assistance here is always welcomed.

Edit: Ok I think I understand it a bit better now [its 4:30 am here now - still sleepy] ....its open to either party to take further action if they wish ??

Louise it seems like open-season now in the land - on so many avenues.
Maybe its part of a larger political picture eg Julius trying to divert attention from all the Tax issues he is up to his neck in.
Why after 24 years of "democracy" is it now an issue [Statues] ?? Many PD people have gone through the self-same universities in that time.
In Moscow that are still 80 statues of Lenin to be seen. Spoke to Moscow-vites over the weekend and their attitude is 1- Its a reminder of an awful past and 2- it forms a counter-point for discussion and debate.

Accident
by Louise inso over easter weekend i was house sitting a lovely place.
the back door was sticking and so in order to close it, gave it a pull with all my might.
my thumb happened to be nestled in the gap of the kitchen door.

It has got to be one of the most painful things to exp. And of course a little later the nail will detach and then take a few months to grow back [Sorry I am being helpful am I not ! ]
If you are still having a lot of throbbing nauseating pain..........its bleedin underneath and building up pressure - the nerves in that area are very sensitive it seems as they are very close to the surface. You may need to let the Doc "puncture" it
I am speaking from recent experience. When the pain and nausea got to much I punctured it myself through the nail and it gushed like a geyser - and then .......Relief !!!
And in my next reply I describe how people will be crushed and squished at Armageddon !
Jy het lekker gevloek ! Its the best thing at the time !

Attending memorial tomorrow?
by Ghiagirl inthis is my first year i will not attend memorial.
to be honest if it wasn't for my husband i would probably be going still.
he says what's the point, don't be one of those people who doesn't give a sh** but just shows there face once a year.

Poor Wifey has to go to assist aged and wheel -chair-bound grandma -and to assist still-in sister handling gran.. And daughter was begged by aunty to accompany "as this may be grans last one " [where have I heard that before?] - so she got suckered in. I am going to a Bistro overlooking the Indian Ocean and will Meditate [Seriously! ] about issues related to this doctrine] while I sip a glass of Red Wine - as the full - moon rises over the Hottentots Holland Mountain range here in Cape Town

A brilliant psychologist
by voodoo lady ini've been seeing a brilliant psychologist.
he has been pivotal in drawing the parallels between my jw upbringing - specifically the hypocrisy i saw as a child - and the reason i've tolerated lies and inconsistencies in my most significant adult relationship.. i've seen one other psychologist in the past.
she didn't get the issues surrounding the religion whatsoever, didn't regard that aspect of my backstory as relevant, and was of little help to me.. has anyone else seen a psychologist - whether for help with coping in the aftermath of leaving the religion, or for seemingly unrelated issues that actually turned out to be related?

Voodo Lady so glad to here you have such help in your life right now:
The Psychiatrist currently assisting me is top of his game. He never offers an opinion but will dialogue with you and by drawing you out with questions get you to reach your own logical conclusions. Were I to attempt to ask him something along the lines of - Have you treated many JW's for depression - he would simply not answer that question -
But by the nature of his questions I can confirm that he knows a lot about JW's and even doctrine and policies. He is Jewish and about 70 years of age. Wise ol man ! Got me off deep depression in about a month after 30 months of hell.
However all 4 of us [family] have or are receiving professional assistance.
