who is to blame jehovahs witnesses and the bible students believing the end was coming in 1914?
ive been reading lots of older magazines and they are so different from todays watchtower!
the current writers from the organization blame everyone except themselves for failed expectations, failed prophecy, "financial ruin and dependance on the goverment "old age social security and medicaid" on their rank-and-file members.

during one of those meetings that took place before my jc, one of the elders, who was a good friend of mine back then and used to come up with a few outlandish personal views about some teachings, attempted to counter one of my arguments like this:.
eden - "well, if the truth doesn't change, why is it that what we teach as 'truth' has changed over the years (several examples given)?
how can we dogmatically claim at any given moment that we have 'the truth' if our teachings keep changing?".
Witnesses love the mentally lazy position of putting complete trust in the magic show.
And they're good little boys and girls for trusting it too!
There are a lot of unexplained, missing pieces in the JW doctrine-creation process. The GB and Jehovah (so they say) and I guess Jesus (if they remember to invite him) slip behind a curtain together and "Presto!" come out with new doctrines out of thin air. It's a whole miraculous, hocus-pocus thing.
Everybody claps and says "Wow!" and never has to use their brain. If you question it (like interupting a magic show to point out slight-of-hand) you are just spoiling the party.
They will passionately defend it untill they are tired of you and kick you out of the show.
...
What's sad is that the WT higher-ups take full advantage of this childish level of consciousness in the followers. Now using it to expand their real estate empire. Unforgivable.
Like I've said before - if there is a judgement day - I don't want to be standing next to the "Governing Body" or any of their cronies!

a close family member just informed me what happened during their last c.o.
visit.
this occurred 3 months ago.
The new elder appointing arrangement isn't as different as the WT wants people to think. WT wants to appear to be distancing itself from the appointment process to reduce liability, but the truth is - it is business as usual. The body has to send in recommendations a month before the CO visit with written explanations. The CO sends this to the branch and has a pow-wow with his service desk about who he has the green light on and who he doesn't.
CO gets to make final call but only from those preselected by the branch. The CO is still just a puppet.
So if a bunch of elders were removed, the branch was in on it.

Current elder unfortunately. Just too damn trapped to leave yet. Taking it slow mainly for the wife. It's hard to nudge your spouse out while still going to indoctrination sessions. I am making progress though. I'll be damned if I let those bastards steal my mate.

Same ole lawyering - P.R. - Spin - BS that you see by all multi-biilion dollar corporations and politicians.
They make "admissions" to say they did - to create sound bites.
For every scrubbed-up, carefully-worded, half-baked admission of anything wrong there are literally thousands upon thousands of "listen to us or God will kill you" statements. It's laughable when you consider the contradiction. You can probably find them in the same magazine. It's deceit of raw evil proportions.
They will always make these printed statements in a vacuum. They will not allow questions, interviews, or requests for further clarification. And we know they do not allow disagreement to begin with.
If they are willing to say they alone represent the voice of almighty God on earth and allow innocent believers to die believing them, they will certainly have the balls to make up a convenient definition of what false prophecy is and then say they do not meet the definition. That's child's play in comparison.

as we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.
10 - all day long.
Started with low level stuff on youtube ended up listening to jwstruggle judicial meeting - then jwfacts, jwsurvey, and here (maybe not in that order).
I even read COC as a pdf online! The internet is lethal to the WT. It will never be the same. Truth wins. Real Truth.

this is my third year since i signed up on jwn and i wanted to do something a bit different--a slight unmasking of sorts and greet everyone face to face.
even with the help of a few notes, this is rambling, raw, and by no means the best personal experience video out there.
i expected the streaming of such a large meeting to focus on 100 years of kingdom rule.
not a single mention.
instead more drivel about insignificant things like yoga pants.
I thought it was oddly absent as well. All that hype about 100 years and then nothing.....
The way they moved on so abruptly should tell you something. It was never anything they actually had any emotion about. It was a big smokescreen and now they are done with it for the most part.
Enough celebrating the imaginary anniversary....back to the carrot/stick routine!

jesus said that "my yoke is kindly and my load is light" what did this scripture mean to you when you were mentally in?
did you feel the jw load was kindly and light?
if not, what was the point in him uttering those words?
That scripture is just used for manipulation in JW land.
The load is light - not because it actually is - but because Jesus said so. Here is the script:
....
"What do you mean you are frustrated, tired, and depressed from a bull crap life of organizational servitude?
Jesus said right here in scripture that his yoke is kindly and his load is light.
So apparently you aren't _____ enough. Apparently you aren't doing enough _____.
(Fill in the blanks with whatever guilt trip you prefer from the vast menu available from the Faithful Slave.)"

i can't remember the topic with the discussion about the talk where they suggested that sisters should only consider ministerial servants as potential marriage partners but think about the implications more.. are they trying to use the potential affections of sisters to enourage brothers to do more and work harder?.
isn't this a form of 'pimping out' the sisters by limiting their attention to the people contributing to them?.
it seems to cross a line to me but i guess it's not vastly different to "only marry another jw".. what do you think?.
Somebody needs to tell these horny wannabe-MS's that JW born-in girls (because of years of guilt/fear indoctrination) have serious guilt issues when it comes to sex.
It's fools gold.
The GB guides the girl to a MS's bed. Ok... Seems good so far... The problem is the GB never leave the room!
They will not be crawling in bed with just their new wife. All seven of the governing body members will be laying there too.
