Since I first came here last September to vent and seek emotional support until now, I've gotten more than I wished for. Simple replies and words of encouragement are always there and I am grateful for this. Now as to the debates and arguments, I just try to avoid checking the threads that I feel are not helpful or appropriate for me at this time.

Is it just me...
by Freeof1914 ini haven't been on this site for as long as many of you, but when i first started it just felt like much more supportive and constructive.
as of late though it just seems to be a very toxic and argumentative place to be.
i speak for myself and i believe others as well, when i say that some of us need a place where we can vent, speak our minds freelym and not feel attacked.

I wear my business-casual office attire to the meetings. It's only the skirts that make me go "shopping" once in a while. Never really put a lot of effort to look like a very attractive eligible (close to desperate) single sister. Guess I'm no match for the 20+ other single sisters who are always dressed to the nines...

The reason behind why the ex-JW community can never match Jehovah's Witnesses' success.
by Stand for Pure Worship inan average of five kingdom halls being constructed daily, almost 8 million brothers and sisters, dissemination of bible literature in 595 languages, 111,795 congregations worldwide, distribution of 179 million bibles available in 116 languages, 239 countries where jehovah's witnesses have a presence, etc.. need i go on?.
on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?
not exactly working out for you guys.

Because it is a well-run business with almost free capital, that is why.
The way you bash other people not worshiping the WTS is just incredible, but understandable anyway.
With almost 8 million JWs, I guess we have ONLY a few 6.2 BILLION people who are living "outside the truth". See the numbers? How can you catch up? The comparison sounds ridiculous? Yes, just like yours.

Whew. That was a delicious read. I wish I could do that tomorrow!
But I'll just fade and shun them. Slowly and quietly.

:(((((( I just feel horrible. I look forward to the time that I just get numb and give them the finger.
Back to the topic, I can imagine the writer growing horns as he/she works on the article.

Please GOD, Jehovah, YHWY, if you are out there, please put a stop to this WT non-sense already...!!!!!
How they play with people's hearts and minds and drive them to needless guilt and depression is so cruel.
I just want to cry already. And wish them to be struck by lightning!

Marriage In The New World
by Cold Steel inokay, here's the issue.
some people, even some jws, believe that in the new world they will be reunited with their spouses.
jesus, however, said that in the resurrection there would be no marriage or giving in marriage.

Mark Sanderson - Why Is the Newest GB Member Suddenly So Prominent?
by Oubliette ini've noticed something that is very odd even by wt/gb standards.
why is mark sanderson suddenly so prominent in all things wt/jw?.
others have commented on the obvious narcissism of the gb pushing themselves to the fore recently, in particular after their huge doctrinal change at proclaiming themselves and only themselves as the faithful and discreet slave.. this is clearly true as evidenced at the agm, not only throughout the agm, but also in the video that was featured as part of that meeting.

People in the congos I know are posting their old photos with Sanderson on social media.. for bragging rights, yes?
The others even set them as cover photos for FB. Quite funny and annoying.
It isn't any different from people who pose with celebs or politicians and don't hesitate to let the world about it.

JWs and pessimism
by elisaporquien inthere are people who are pessimistic, optimistic, cynical or whatever.
i've noticed that ever since my sister became a jw she's become very pessimistic about life now (present time).
i love and care about her but her pessimism sometimes brings me down (emotionally).

I am an example of an optimist-dreamer-turned-pessimist when I became a JW.
You just slowly forget dreaming about a good future (in this lifetime). In essence, there is really nothing to look forward to, except, that wonderful "new world".
I studied in one of the top universities and made good grades and did well---but after becoming a JW, I couldn't be "properly proud" about my achievements. I did not "sell" myself well because I lost ambition.
Bottomline is: humans sometimes need to share their achievements and celebrate them. But in the JW world, you can only be proud if you have a Bible study, or if your BS got baptized, or if you are given more "privileges". Of course, not everyone becomes a pioneer and so on and so forth.
How would you feel if you cannot dream big, cannot share and celebrate your achievements of the few things you can do well in this world??
