I'm looking at my bookshelf right now and most are about psychology, self-help, human relationships, space exploration, Chinese ancient wisdom, and a lot of foreign language books from European to Asian languages.

If I was out I'd...
by OneDayillBeFree inwhat kinds of things would you like to do if you were out of the organization?
and if you're already out and free, what kinds of things did you do that you really wanted to do but couldn't because it was against jw beleiefs?.
recently, i overheard some of the younger crowd of jw's after a meeting talking about how they wished they could have this or do that, get tattoos, play the newest video games (you know, the ones with all the violence and realistic 'kickass' graphics and such), grow out their beards for 'no shave november" wear miniskirts and dye their hair crazy colours... etc.

... probably resort to drinking and smoking to cope with my loneliness. Said my Bible study conductor.
I'd say I'd start meeting new people and guys included, to start my love life for the first time.

The TRUTH about Jehovah's Wittnesses (from MY 22 YRS. EXPERIENCE) - A MUST READ!
by gmason972 ini have learned to stay away from all religion and jehovahs wittness doctrine (that includes the watchtower and awake magazines).
stay away from positions of ministerial servant, pioneer, aux pioneer, elder, and the like.
once you become a full fledged jehovah wittness you are doomed to be unhappy.

I agree with everything you wrote.
I felt that I had a better relationship with Him while I was still studying. I was an optimist. But, after I got baptized, my faith in God has been blurred by a lot of Watchtower doctrine. I became a pessimist and judgmental of other people. You have to be in the organization to know how it feels. And yes, I thought I was the only one feeling the emptiness and suffering in silence. I was wrong!
Thanks for your initial post and welcome to JWN.

10,000 year old spear point found in FL - man is only 6,000 years old?
by Comatose inhttp://www.cnn.com/2013/11/16/us/florida-spring-artifacts/index.html?hpt=hp_c2.
as evidence piles up, will we reach a tipping point where people begin accepting the age of humans existence?.
he described as "phenomenal" the preservation of the finds, whose location as many as 5 feet deep in oxygen-free sediment had protected them from decay.. they include a suwannee projectile point -- a spear point -- whose estimated age of 10,000 years puts it "right at the cusp of the end of the ice age," arbuthnot said.

Have you grown detached from caring about JW family and old friends?
by tootired2care inafter being out of the borg for a year and a half, weve dealt with a lot of nonsense from local elders stopping by unannounced, well-meaning do-gooders trying to encourage us.
somehow weve managed to get through this without getting dfd/dad.
for me the worst part of it all has been that much of my family has shunned me, and stopped talking to me, as soon as they heard through the grapevine that i wasnt going to meetings.

It makes me really sad just reading your stories. These things are unimaginable... I am just thankful that I am the only one in the family stuck in the "truth". For those who are still studying to become one of JWs, I hope you are able to read this and know the reality.

How Do You Generally View People and Yourself?
by minimus ini tend to look at people and situations with a little bit of humor.
i tend to feel that many view themselves as being better than they really are.
people's perceptions are often skewered.

Before I became a JW: "I need to study hard, do my best, and become successful so that I can help my family and community in the future.."
While studying to become a JW: "Yay! Why did I not know these things before?! ... And they're so loving. "
As a JW, pre-TTATT: "Gosh, these people (referring to the "worldly" ones) ... "
As a JW, after knowing TTATT: " (Thunder, lightning, ground-shaking) Dear God, why did I put blind faith in all these things?! How gullible of me.. "

philipines disaster news up on jw.org
by Captain Blithering inhttp://www.jw.org/en/news/
wouldn't it be nice if they said 'you know what, we've made millions in property sales recently, lets donate a couple million to a philipines relief fund..'
ten vans full, probably just for jw's.

We have another clone of SPFW here?
Back to the topic: I chose Red Cross and another long-time registered good-reputation charity organization . And NONE to the WBTS. They have billions of dollars at their disposal! They keep fleecing the flock and won't shell out anything from their very own pockets (I mean the Faithful and VERY discreet GB). How convenient.

Emergency relief fund for the Philippines. How will it work.
by joe134cd ini was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.
ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.
sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.

Not sure about the relief goods having been distributed November 10th--- because all roads were still not passable at the time, according to many sources.
