Does anyone know how Russell felt about the whole ' this good news of the kingdom would be preached unto all the earth' scripture? Any idea how modern international bible students would explain it. Ya know, because JWs beat their chests and say ' we are true Christians because we are fulfilling this work.

"Jehovah Knows Those Who Belong to Him"
I printed out the next study edition of the WT, which will be used this coming week. The first article starts on page 7. The article seems to focus on the Governing Body's (GB's) concern with apostasy in the modern day congregation. What is interesting about this article is that it focuses on apostasy that is not quite apparent to members of the Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) congregation.
For example, one paragraph mentions that, in Paul's day, "Certain professed Christians adopted false teachings; yet, they continued to associate with the congregation". The paragraph goes on to say that "To the casual observer, these apostates might not have been different from others in the congregation. But their apostasy presented a danger to faithful Christians".
I don't feel the need to quote a great deal of the article. One can simply read the article themselves. However, there are a few points that should be considered.
The article uses words such as "hypocritical worship", "a deceitful form of worship deliberately", "counterfeit Christians". So, it is obvious that these words are directed at some "in the congregation".
What is strange to me is that the article is quite vague. There is no reminder of what constitutes apostasy. Furthermore, It seems that the GB feels the need to warn JWs of apostates in their midsts. However, the article does not give modern examples or even confirm that this is the case. In fact, paragraph 15 directs JWs to not be suspicious.
It seems the whole article is meant to warn of apostates in the congreagation's midst. However, since Elders can easily Disfellowship (DF) members who are proven to be apostates ("Stubbornly holds to and spreads teachings" contrary to Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine), why is this necessary? Are there numerous active JWs who are rejecting recent changes, or even standard JW doctrine, and voicing this to friends and/or family?
The WT is also warning against apostates that are "allowed to remain in the congregation" So, if there are known apostates in the congregation one may wonder why they would be allowed to remain.
Have many faithful JWs voiced concerns over changed teachings? If they were guilty of spreading these teachings, they would have definitely been DF'd. However, has the quiet questioning and disagreeing over certain doctrine caused them to be labeled as having "apostate tendencies"?

I just turned 30. You know what I see with the JWs around my age? They are simply not hardcore! Most of them that is.
JW life is social for them, totally SOCIAL. They don't know ANYTHING about Bible prophecy, doctrine, etc. They are mostly born ins whos kids will likely never get baptized (this is already happening). They can't defend their beliefs!
They are too busy working, having kids, and enjoying life to care for the guilt trips. Hell, why do you think there is the 30hr/month pioneering thing now?
I'm pretty damn sure I will never go back, not even for memorial! My wife is awake but still goes sometimes for social reasons. I am keeping all bound volumes so I can blow the lid off this religion when my kids are adolesents.

Hi everyone,
So I have been doing a 90 day fast from anything JW related. Getting close to 2 months in. Went to a Baptist service this morning. I'm not 100% certain that I DO NOT want to be a JW, but have some SERIOUS problems with the ORG.
Well, my wife is completely opposite! Her problem is with the social structure. She doesn't feel a lot of love and social support for moms her age.
Anyway, she went tonight with the kids and told me she got "love bombed" (her words). Yep. Women engaging her, saying they should get dinner, and even one tearing up and saying "I just wanted me and my kids to make it into paradise...you need to be here". Well, my wife is fairly emotionally driven, especially socially driven. She sounds like it got to her. She said "I feel like anywhere we go is going to have problems". LOL! Any help as to what I should do?

anyone know what that means?.

Thanks. So, the earliest manuscript says uses "Christos"? Interesting how I never knew about this when an active JW.
